My wife was discharged from hospital into palliative care, having been given only a few months to live. Her mobility was seriously impaired by her condition and she was suffering pain and a lack of appetite.
We looked at several care homes. At Fairview we were initially a bit disappointed with the
room offered but were very impressed by the friendly staff and the cheerful atmosphere. It felt like a community.
Having looked at other homes we went back to Fairview to discuss rooms. This time there was a better choice. We chose one and were helped and encouraged to make it a home from home.
At least one of us visited every day. We always found a friendly welcome.
The staff are special: genuinely caring, friendly and adaptable and bonded with my wife and family. They all worked hard to be kind and gentle and control her pain: to make her feel at home.
If you are looking for somewhere for your loved one have a good look at Fairview and talk to the lovely staff.

Mum passed away a couple of weeks ago.
She came to Fairview Court nearly 4 yrs ago, not once have we regretted our decision to choose Fairview as her home.
The kindnes and care provided by staff to both mum & us has been outstanding and we so appreciate it.
We were able to visit at our convenience,
no appointment necessary, always welcomed.
Felt like our extended family...

My dad has recently moved in following a spell in hospital after a decline in his parkinsons and dementia symptoms. We get regular updates from the home and we are warmly welcomed when we visit. My dad is getting involved with the activities and enjoyed a trip to the park which is good for his mental
and physical health. His room is a good size, with garden view and is kept clean and tidy. It is reassuring knowing any dad isn't alone for long periods at home now. I hope he will settle well and be happy here.

Both my parents are in this care home and share a double bedroom. The staff are all very friendly and I can tell by the way my parents relate to them when I visit that they are cared for and treated as individuals with humour and courtesy. The activities are excellent both in their range and adaptations
to all abilities. The food looks varied and of a very good standard. The weight of my mind knowing they are cared for and safe and worth the price.

I highly recommend the staff are not only friendly but genuinely caring, showing real empathy. They have taken the time to get to know my mum as an individual which makes a big difference in the quality of care provided. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I always feel reassured my mum is in good
hands! The maintenance man even took time to get to know her! Staff go above and beyond thank you all!

Fairview Court has a welcoming and homely feel. All the staff are brilliant. It is very clean and the facilities and food are excellent. Mum became a resident at the end of August having had a bad experience at her previous care home.
The staff are kind, caring, patient and very welcoming to the residents
and their families. Nothing is too much trouble and we are kept informed about mum's health and any concerns. Mum settled really quickly and we are secure in the knowledge that mum is safe, well looked after and receiving an excellent standard of care and support. At mum's previous home, she was actively discouraged from attempting to walk. Mum found this frustrating and upsetting. Since moving here mum is once again mobile and supported by the staff, who enable her to move freely around the home and has also been receiving physiotherapy. My family feel this is absolutely the best place for mum to be. We can't thank the staff enough for how they look after and care for her.

Our father initially came into Fairview Court for respite in March 2024. This is something which my sister and I both felt very anxious and unsure of our father settling in a care home environment. On our day of arrival, we were welcomed and greeted by a fantastic home manager and team who took their
time with us. Our father is now a permanent resident and is settling in well. Every team member at Fairview Court is kind, caring and compassionate. Making sure our father's needs are met. As we now feel we are part of the Fairview Court Family.

I went in for respite care after an operation on my hand for nine days. Since I lived locally Stanshawes was ideal. The home was clean, and staff were very competent and friendly. However, they were short-staffed (I guess that this is a universal problem). Since I like my own company, I did not partake
in any of the activities although I enjoyed chatting to the staff when time allowed. My only adverse comment is that the food could have been better (if it was, I would have given my experience five stars).

My mother-in-law is 97 years old. She went in for the first time for a week's respite. She was very frightened and had been diagnosed with vascular dementia about two months ago. She had a visitor every day. When we went to pick her up a week later she said the staff were all lovely and couldn't do
enough for her. After a few days, she got used to the routine and she said she wouldn't mind going back if required. I cannot praise all the staff there who helped her settle in.

My sister was admitted to Fairview Court on 2nd of August 2024. I had been to look at the home a couple of days earlier. My own impression of the home was really positive and when my sister arrived she was overwhelmed with the kindness of all staff and the high standard of everything in her room. She
is very happy there and never fails to tell me how well she is being treated. Her partner visits her each day and is always treated with hospitality and kindness. All staff are caring and helpful and the manager always responds promptly to any questions or concerns. Excellent place. Thank you for all that is being done for my sister.

Our mum only lasted one night and was sent by ambulance to an unknown hospital. No chance to even get settled. Don't let your loved one stay here if they have vascular dementia as it seems they are unable to cope with this type of illness. There is hardly anyone around from 6 pm so expect to wait ages
for anyone to answer the door if you are visiting.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that we did not have the opportunity to care for your mum for longer than the 24 hours. We had to do what was best for her as she was medically unwell hence why we called the ambulance. The medical staff also agreed with us that she needed to go back into an acute setting. We have an amazing team that did their best for the short time that we had your mum, we are sorry that she had to go back to the BRI hospital as agreed on the discharge letter that she needed to go back to the BRI if symptoms persisted. She was sent back to the hospital because she complained of chest pain, this is not something we can ignore as you may appreciate. Thank you once again for your feedback and I want to wish you and your mum the very best. Please do not hesitate to call me if need be, you do have my mobile number, many thanks.

Needed to find residential nursing/care home for my husband's needs. His illness had become more
advanced after a few falls. Upon visiting Stanshawes I immediately felt it was clean, comfortable and homely. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I was shown around by member of management staff who
was very helpful and explained all about the home and its care. I knew instinctively that my husband would be happy here. He has now been at the home for over a month, he settled in straight away. He is happy and smiling when we visit and staff are very caring and compassionate with him. He is well looked after. It was very difficult when he left our home I was worried about finding somewhere suitable I miss him terribly. I needn't have worried. Stanshawes is very suitable. Food is good. There is a good programme of activities for residents which is well planned and enjoyable for them. It has a nice garden and seating area outside. I can visit often and it is near our home.

Finding a suitable home for my dad to live in dignity following a life-changing fall was crucial for his own well being and that of his family, especially my mum who had to come to terms with a life without him being able to live at home.
The care, attention, friendliness and genuine desire to care
for residents speaks volumes about this home.
It is never pleasant to see a relative have to live out their life in the way my dad has to but knowing he will do so with dignity and care is a comfort. We feel lucky he has this chance.
