My dad was ill with a chest infection and ended up having 3 falls in as many days. The doctor requested a chest X-ray, and he ended up being kept in hospital for physio. We noticed a rapid deterioration in his health and mood and I tried desperately to get him back to St James. Thankfully they agreed
late in the day to accept my dad back requiring more assistance than the hospitals goal for him. Had St James not agreed to accept dad back needing assistance of 2 whilst ill we believe he would not be here now. In essence they saved his life.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThank you so much for your kind work, I particularly remember the day you have spoken about and I agree 100% he needed to be home with us asap. And what a transformation his mood lifted almost straight away and he was just generally happy to be back with us. All of you as a family are the most warmest and thankful family and state every time you visit how appreciated you all are. thankyou once again.

My nan was admitted to Highgrove due to her advancing dementia.
The staff took her in, showed her kindness and dignity in our family's hour of need. They were amazing with her, eased her distress and treated her as if she were their own family. They made this hard situation easy. We felt safe and content
she was in good hands. Cannot thank you enough. Amazing all around.

I spent around three weeks in the Cedars wing of Buckingham Care Home following a hospital visit for a broken hip and I couldn't be more positive about the care I received during my rehabilitation.
The carers, the nursing staff, and the physiotherapists I saw were all as helpful and supportive as I
could have asked for. I was well looked after and was helped to recover to a level where I felt able to go back home, without any sense of rush or pressure.
The food was good, cups of tea were regular and coming from a hospital ward the peace and quiet of my own room was a godsend.
Reply from Marie Wood, Home Manager at Buckingham Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We're delighted to hear that your stay in Cedars Wing was such a positive one following your hospital visit. Supporting residents through rehabilitation and helping them regain confidence and independence is something our whole team is deeply committed to, so it's wonderful to know you felt well cared for and never rushed during your recovery.
Your kind words about our carers and the NHS nursing staff, and physiotherapy team will mean a great deal to them. We're also pleased that you were comfortable in your room and able to enjoy a peaceful environment, along with the little things like regular cups of tea and good food that can make such a difference.
It was a pleasure to support you during your recovery, and we wish you continued health and happiness at home.

My mum and her close friend have both been resident at Clarence House Care Home for 6 months, they are both completely happy and have no complaints whatsoever. The home and rooms are kept spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The food is outstanding. They both constantly tell me they want for nothing.
All the staff deserve a big pat on the back, their professionalism, kindness and care go above and beyond. I have no hesitation in giving 5 stars and recommending Clarence House to anyone who might have any doubts.

This home offers passionate, genuine care - staff are so nice and take time to see how you are as well as the resident. There's lots of stimulating activities and the home welcomes family to come along and be involved. The rooms are kept very clean and the home is tastefully decorated - it is ideally
situated on a bus route as well as having parking and the residents enjoy looking out and watching the busy street, school children and passers by from the cozy lounge.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThankyou so much for your lovely review. This really does mean a lot. I'm so glad you have mentioned our activities team as they are thriving and going from strength to strength. Please continue to keep an eye out for all the plans we have made for throughout the year.. I will off course pass on your kind words to all staff. Kind words do go along way and the staff do thoroughly deserve the recognition they receive. Once again thankyou and take care.

My mum has been in St James since December 2025 initially for respite care after an unsafe discharge from hospital. Not knowing where to turn to, St James was recommended by a friend. The management team visited mum at home and made my decision a lot easier, reassuring me I was doing the right thing
and mum would be safe and well looked after.
The whole team are friendly, helpful, accommodating and very caring with mum, despite her numerous requests for baths and different menu items.
Since December we have seen mum improve and is becoming more confident and joining in with the activities St James organise.
Thank you all for looking after mum and helping me, your support has been much appreciated and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend St James Court.

Mum came in for 2 days, day care in March and was really pleased with her time there. Loads of activities to do and attentive staff. One of her requests was to have a bath during her time in the home, as she only has a shower at home. The staff were very understanding of this and assisted with her needs.

Utterly let down by this 'care' home.
Failed my mam, unsupportive of her needs, challenging her when she is sun downing! Totally escalating the issue rather than being professional, calm and caring.
They say they are very experienced with alzheimers and sun downing - not.
Karen is a fabulous, caring,
kind but other managers are childish, unprofessional and uncaring.
Have received threat after threat from management re fees and the threat of a 28 day notice which they are now about to issue!
Dont get old, infirm, the future is diabolical
Heartbroken for my poor mam
Reply from Angela Moore, Manager at Highgrove Residential HomeWe are very sorry to read your review about your experience and to hear how upset you are about your mum's experience. This is not the standard of care we aim to provide, and we take concerns like this extremely seriously.

We are proud of our team and the care they provide in sometimes challenging circumstances. We would want to fully understand what has happened here.
Supporting residents living with Alzheimer's, including during periods of sundowning, requires patience, understanding and specialist care, and we are sorry to hear that this has not been your experience. We also understand how distressing conversations around fees and notices can be, during an already difficult time, we are sorry if this has added to your worry.

Please could we ask you to contact us directly so we can fully investigate your concerns and work towards resolving this for you. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to ensuring all residents receive the care & dignity they deserve.

My Aunt has been in the Care home for around 2.5 months initially for 10 Days respite and due to her health we've needed to keep extending her stay. As a family, we know she is safe in the care home, is well looked after physically and there's a great program of enriching activities for her to join
if she would like to. The care team are fantastic and from the moment we arrived at the care home (7pm on a cold dark rainy evening) my Aunt and all family members always receive a warm welcome. It's a lovely care home where the carers really do care for their residents, thank you for all you do.

I have been here since early December 25 and was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived from hospital. There are activities available if I want to go to them. Sometimes at breakfast time, they seem short of staff, and I have to wait for my breakfast. The menu for meals isn't always as advertised.
But on the whole, I am highly satisfied.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThankyou for your kinds words. Your a breath of fresh air and your Barnsley banter is second to none, which we love about you.
I will be sure to pass on your appreciation on to all the staff, but if you feel you ever need anything please don't hesitate to pop in the office and have a chat. From a lady who was only originally coming in for a few weeks respite prior to Christmas to extending your stays it surely says we are doing something right.

My Dad has been a resident at St James's Court for just over 18 months and I could not be happier with his care. Dad has gone from having two children look out for him to having many more, as the staff treat everyone like their own. Dad is in a safe and understanding environment, so much so that he
doesn't want to leave. I cannot praise the staff enough, they treat him with respect and kindness. I live abroad and I never worry when I leave him for several weeks at a time. We made the most amazing memories over the Christmas period thanks to the staff at the home - a chance I never thought we'd get again due to his dementia.

The care home has provided my mum with the care she needs and as her daughter has given me reassurance that she is being well looked after.
All staff I have had contact with have shown a high level of competence and have a friendly, caring and nurturing nature. They always make time to talk and provide
updates about my mum.,
When I raised a concern the management team were extremely supportive and acted quickly to put a solution in place.
The catering is fabulous with a wide variety of food available. They even provide my dad with lunch which is such a thoughtful gesture.
All staff are wonderful but a few individuals have really stood out. I would like to thank Dean, Jackie, Mandy, Nicola and the carer who looks after dad and even made him a chip butty when we wasn't feeling too well, sorry I can't remember her name.
I would highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking compassionate care for both residents and their families.
