My Aunt has been in the Care home for around 2.5 months initially for 10 Days respite and due to her health we've needed to keep extending her stay. As a family, we know she is safe in the care home, is well looked after physically and there's a great program of enriching activities for her to join
if she would like to. The care team are fantastic and from the moment we arrived at the care home (7pm on a cold dark rainy evening) my Aunt and all family members always receive a warm welcome. It's a lovely care home where the carers really do care for their residents, thank you for all you do.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care Homethankyou so much for your kind words. Your Aunt is a breath of fresh air and is welcome to stay as long has she wants. Can i just say you all has a family are amazing and so supportive and not only have you took your time to write this review you also tell us face to face when you visit how appreciative you all all. Once again thankyou and i will be sure to let all the staff know.

I have been here since early December 25 and was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived from hospital. There are activities available if I want to go to them. Sometimes at breakfast time, they seem short of staff, and I have to wait for my breakfast. The menu for meals isn't always as advertised.
But on the whole, I am highly satisfied.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThankyou for your kinds words. Your a breath of fresh air and your Barnsley banter is second to none, which we love about you. I will be sure to pass on your appreciation on to all the staff, but if you feel you ever need anything please don't hesitate to pop in the office and have a chat. From a lady who was only originally coming in for a few weeks respite prior to Christmas to extending your stays it surely says we are doing something right.

My Dad has been a resident at St James's Court for just over 18 months and I could not be happier with his care. Dad has gone from having two children look out for him to having many more, as the staff treat everyone like their own. Dad is in a safe and understanding environment, so much so that he
doesn't want to leave. I cannot praise the staff enough, they treat him with respect and kindness. I live abroad and I never worry when I leave him for several weeks at a time. We made the most amazing memories over the Christmas period thanks to the staff at the home - a chance I never thought we'd get again due to his dementia.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThankyou for your lovely review, Not only have you taken your time to write this review but also when you visit you express how grateful you all are and i cant tell you how much it means to us all. I am so happy you had a lovely Christmas with your dad making memories. Once again thankyou and i will be sure to let all the staff know your appreciation.

The care home has provided my mum with the care she needs and as her daughter has given me reassurance that she is being well looked after.
All staff I have had contact with have shown a high level of competence and have a friendly, caring and nurturing nature. They always make time to talk and provide
updates about my mum.,
When I raised a concern the management team were extremely supportive and acted quickly to put a solution in place.
The catering is fabulous with a wide variety of food available. They even provide my dad with lunch which is such a thoughtful gesture.
All staff are wonderful but a few individuals have really stood out. I would like to thank Dean, Jackie, Mandy, Nicola and the carer who looks after dad and even made him a chip butty when we wasn't feeling too well, sorry I can't remember her name.
I would highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking compassionate care for both residents and their families.
Reply from Dean Jenkinson, registered Manager at Richmond Care HomeThank you for providing such a kind review of our service. Its been such a pleasure getting to know mum and yourselves over the last few months.

My mum has been in The Royal three months now. We wasn't t sure what to expect at first and it was quite overwhelming, but I can't tell you just how pleased me and my family are. It is like one big family. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble, day or night. The home is run really
well and there is always somebody around to chat to. It has honestly give me peace of mind knowing that mum is being looked after, kept clean, and eating very well-she loves her food! Activities are great if you want to participate and she loves having her hair and nails done. Thank you to everyone.

Mum was only here for 5 yours before she became v aggressive with staff and residents,, the manager was very professional and was able to calm her and realised that she needed specialist medical care that had not been assessed or addressed at her previous home. The care home rang for an ambulance
and she was admitted to hospital.
Our family are very grateful for the understanding care and professional, non judgemental attitude of the care home manager and staff, and would like,e to praise the home for their management of mums condition , it was their swift intervention in getting mum into hospital where she was assessed ,which led to her ultimately being placed in a home that could safely manage her complex needs.
Reply from Tracey Oliver, Home Manager at St James Court Care HomeThankyou so much, can i just say it was a pleasure meeting you all and getting to know you all in such a short amount of time, i just wish things could have turned out a little different for you all, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. I'm glad your mum was able to receive the care she deserved. And has a family we want to wish you all the best in the future. If your ever passing please don't hesitate to pop in for a cuppa and a chat. I will be sure to pass on your gratitude to all the staff.

This care home is just so welcoming! My mum stayed in June and was well cared for. We have since visited events held here and mum has enjoyed going along. There is lots of activities, singers, fund raiser days and a balance of quiet areas for those who require it. All staff very helpful and you see
a true dedication to clients.

Our Mum arrived at St James in July 2025 and stayed with them until she passed away in November 2025.
The care she received was excellent in every respect.
The care home was well maintained and was clean and didn't smell.
The meals were amazing, with lots of choice. There was also access to a kitchen
area where we could make a drink for Mum, which made it feel more of a normal visit to be able to share a cuppa like we did at home.
There were activities during the day and evening.
Mum was well looked after, she was washed every day and showered every couple of days at her choosing. She was changed out of night ware and in to clean day clothes every day.
The staff interacted well with her, taking the time to chat and inquire about her life, they had fun and there was lots of laughter. They also treated her with dignity and respect and kept her safe.
The care at the end of Mums life was amazing. Regular checking in on Mum, but also us, to make sure we were coping. Thankyou to staff

Highgrove and its staff are amazing and genuinely care. I could not wish for anywhere better for my mother to be. She is cared for and looked after so well. It is a daunting thing to happen when a relative goes into care, but I shouldn't have worried. My mother, who had become a 'bag of bones' & unkempt,
has put 1 stone on, looks well, and so cared for. Thanks to all at Highgrove.
PS The entertainment & games are excellent.
