Preston House

My Relative has been a resident at Preston House Nursing home for two and a half years, year on year I've seen improvement in service and care, recently a reduction in my relatives's medication in collaboration with the GP and subsequent retraining of staff has been welcomed.
All staff are friendly,
proactive, and caring and go to great lengths to care for my sister.
The 'Activity' service is exemplary, professional, respectful, giving residents encouragement, stimulation, and enjoyment.
Reception is my 'first point of contact,' in person or on the phone, always a helpful caring experience.
The financial process works effectively and I am kept well informed.
I live 400 miles from Preston House and receive a weekly report on my relative from the Management Team and the introduction of a video call with my relative is comforting.
Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Preston HouseThank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your continued trust in Preston House. We are delighted to hear that you have seen ongoing improvements in the care and support provided to your sister over the past two and a half years. It is especially encouraging to know that the collaborative approach between our team and healthcare professionals, along with our commitment to staff development, has had a positive impact. Your kind words about our care team, activities staff, reception team and management are greatly appreciated. We understand how important it is to stay connected when living at a distance, and we are pleased that our regular updates and video calls provide reassurance and comfort. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback and support.

Methven House is an excellent Care Home. Staff go above and beyond for the residents' care, and the residents are treated with dignity and respect, warmth, and understanding. The staff engage with the residents, it's comforting to know that staff are always seen and present if assistance is needed.
Staff listen to the residents and help whenever possible. My friend is seen, heard, acknowledged, and included. When I visit, it feels like my friend's home, and I know she feels the same because she tells me that. I know she is safe, secure, comfortable and well looked after, knowing this gives me tremendous peace of mind.

Fernlea House

My mum spent almost 3 years at Fernlea. She had dementia that progressed during her time there. She never wanted to be in care and although she had many good days in Fernlea, there were also times when it was a challenge for both her and the care staff. Despite that, she was always treated with care
and dignity and all the staff, carers, cleaners, office staff and workmen took time to get to know her and spend time with her. While she was able to, she enjoyed many of the actiivies and trips out. The staff obviously had to ensure she was safe, but also enabled her to be herself and do her own thing whenever they could. They all have my grateful thanks for the excellent way she was cared for in her last few days. I couldn't have wished for more. I visited my mum often, and experienced the warmth and generosity of the staff when I visited. I was always welcomed, kept well informed of my mum's care and health and treated with real kindness. Thank you all.
Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Fernlea HouseThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review of Fernlea House. It means so much to know your mum was treated with care, dignity and kindness throughout her time with us, especially in her final days.

Preston House

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Gary has been in your care 11 months, it's not been without its bumps and twists along the way. Having never needed adult health and social care support before, I didn't know what to expect. On the whole it has been a very positive experience, and the worries or concerns we've had have been dealt with
quickly and supportively. My only concerns if I still had to think of any would be things missing belonging to Gary or finding things that aren't his - not a big problem in the grand scale of things. Staffing - not always able to find someone, which concerns me that he and peers are left vulnerable for short periods of time.
Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Preston HouseThank you for taking the time to share your experience of Gary's first 11 months at Preston House. We understand that moving into adult health and social care can feel daunting, so it means a great deal to hear that, overall, your experience has been a positive one and that any concerns raised have been responded to quickly and supportively.

We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding belongings and staffing visibility. While we are pleased these issues have not had a major impact on Gary's care, we recognise how important reassurance, security and timely support are for both residents and families. Your comments have been noted and will help us continue to review and improve the experience we provide and please do not hesitate to reach out to our Service Manager should you ever wish to discuss any worries or concerns further.

Thank you again for your trust and support.

Staff are fantastic on dads floor (2) he has his favourites which is nice to see. There are plenty of activities for him to do if he wishes to do so, however he was a very quiet soul and didn't do these things before so we don't expect him to do it now if he doesn't want to but it's lovely to see photos
when he does.
I would like to see him clean shaven daily as he always was at home. He was a very smart tidy man with very high hygiene standards. I like to remember him this way. On this note I would like to see his clothing replaced when he spills food down him. Again I understand if we come down after lunch staff have not had time but when we arrive after two it's not nice to see him wandering around in clothing covered in lunch . We did leave money for dad in the office when he moved in so that he could have hair trims every 6-8 weeks where possible.
Staff are on the ball with dad's health and I trust them 100% that they have his best interests at heart. Thanks to everyone
Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Preston HouseThank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback about your dad's care at Preston House. It's lovely to hear how much you value the team on his floor and the genuine relationships they've built with him.

We're pleased that you feel confident in the care provided and that your dad is supported to take part in activities at his own pace, with those special moments captured for you to see.

Your comments are important to us, and we will share your feedback regarding your dad's presentation with the team to ensure greater consistency in supporting your dad to look and feel as he always has done.

Thank you again for your kind words and for placing your trust in us - it truly means a great deal.

From the moment you enter Roselea House you feel so welcome from the manager and all her staff. My loved one has settled so well. There are activities daily, the interaction between staff and residents is so lovely to see. When a resident has a birthday the staff put banners and balloons up and a cake
is made for them. The meals are delicious and afternoon tea is served every day. There is also armchair keep-fit and a silent disco and singers. Roselea House is a wee gem.

We have nothing but good things to say about Finavon. From our first initial visit, it was clear to see that staff have very positive and respectful relationships with residents. Since moving in, Mum has been well cared for, which is evident in her appearance and her demeanour. It's clear for us to
see that she feels comfortable and happy, which is a huge relief for us after what has been a very stressful time.

My sister has recently been admitted to Falkland View in Falkland as she no longer has capacity to care for herself. Making a decision to put a loved one into care is very challenging. From day one this lovely home has helped us make this transition as painless as possible. Falkland View is a lovely

The relief I feel at finding such a lovely home for my sister is enormous. Thank you to you all for making my sister and our family welcome.

I tend to phone the home first and check it is ok for me to visit my friend (of over 40 years) and the staff, who are incredibly courteous to me, advise if my friend
has a gp appointment, too tired to see me or other. However I think we have only missed 3 visits due to my friend not keeping well that day.
Occasionally if he is too tired then the staff make a sitting room available and provide us both with a tea or coffee or water which is very kind of them.
The care home itself is always clean and tidy, no smells (which I have noticed in other care facilities I've had to visit) and a welcoming entrance well secured and watched over by the staff.
All in all it seems a very happy and pleasant place to be if one has to stay there.

Excellent small residential care home. Caring staff and well managed. The whole home is clean, well furnished and welcoming. Large ensuite rooms. A range of activities including some with local school/nursery. Nice garden that is safe and secure. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a residential
(not nursing) home for their relative.

I've noticed a really positive change in the home since the new manager started. There seems to be a real focus on improving the environment and making sure residents feel comfortable and well cared for. The atmosphere feels more organised, communication has improved, and the staff appear more supported
and motivated.
It's clear that the new management is working hard to make positive changes, and those efforts are starting to show. Small improvements in daily routines, cleanliness, and engagement with residents have made a noticeable difference. It's reassuring to see the home moving in such a positive direction.
Overall, it's encouraging to see the progress being made, and I hope the improvements continue. Thank you to the team for the care and effort you're putting In.
I would however like to see more activities being done with my mum. I do realise her dementia has affected her mobility, but this should not exclude her. It makes me smile seeing her picture on your social media page.
Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Barrogil HouseThank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback - it means a lot to the team at Barrogil House.

It's also lovely to hear that seeing your mum on our social media brings a smile. Those moments of connection really matter.
We appreciate your feedback around activities too. We'll share this with the team to ensure we continue finding ways to involve your mum in a way that suits her needs and abilities.
Thank you again for your support and encouragement.

My mum has been a resident at Roselea House for 3-and-a-half years now. She is very happy in her new home. The manager and all the staff are very approachable, professional and have a good relationship with the residents. There are plenty of activities for my mum to do and she really enjoys the bus
trips and going out in the community. The meals are excellent, catering for all needs. This is an excellent care home who take excellent care of my mum. I have no worries or concerns about her at Roselea House.
