Care Homes Owned by St Philips Care Group in Scottish Borders

My dad has been in care at Lennel House since April due to Alzheimer's. Since day one he has been cared for and made to feel at home. The staff led by Katie have been professional, approachable and supportive. I'm very happy with the level of care and the quality of the surroundings that is provided at Lennel.

My dad has been here just over a year now and I cannot fault the care he receives. The care staff and nursing team demonstrate kindness and respect towards residents as well as appropriate training in meeting the needs of dementia patients. Staff appear to know my dad well and are always able to tell me when I arrive how he has been earlier in the day or earlier that week. He is always clean and well dressed when I visit and his room is always clean and tidy. Management are very approachable and show good knowledge of my dad's condition, his needs and his medication. The nursing staff or management always contact me with any changes or other significant information. His dietary needs are personalised and management open to suggestions / ideas. The activities co-ordinator tries to tailor activities to individual interests. Security is as it should be for a facility where many residents have dementia. I feel that my Dad is safe and well cared for at Knowesouth.

Dad has been in St Margaret's since February this year. He settled in well mainly due to the care and compassion shown by staff. He enjoyed chatting with others in the sitting room and dining room. Laterally as his health deteriorated he has spent much more time in his bedroom. Staff frequently pop in to check on him/have a chat/encourage him to eat or drink. I like that we , his family, are kept up to date with any changes in his health. Staff are always very welcoming and have time just to tell us how his day is going. Any appointments are dealt with efficiently and again we are given support as needed. We are relieved dad has 24 hour care thank you.

Found the staff very approachable and reassuring when asking questions relating to my aunt moving into the care home. When visiting, they made me feel very welcome and updated me with my aunts Wellbeing.

Dad passed away in June 2025 and the staff were fantastic supporting Mum and helping myself and my 2 brothers sort things out. Mum has been on her own since then and they have always kept us informed of any health issues Mum has had. Katie the Manager, Josh the assitant manager and the Senior careers in particular have been extremly helpful. Although we have had limited experiance with any other care homes we did in the past have experiance with one other care home which has made us realise how good Lennel house is. Also dealing wirh the finance team at St Philips head office has been very easy.

I can't praise the carers enough for what they do. You can hear so many horror stories in the media about care homes, but not enough about the really good ones. The carers communicate really well with my Sister & I about our Mum & they also accommodate anything we ask for on our Mum's behalf. Food is delicious too!

My Gran was admited to Lennel House in March when unable to live at home alone, we are happy with the care that is provided, my gran lived alone so it's lovely that she has lots of friends she can talk to, we have peace of mind knowing she is cared for 24 hours a day

During her final days, which were very difficult for us, the staff were incredibly generous with their time; prepared to go the extra mile for us. We can't thank them enough.

The staff at Bonchester have been great, mum now feels at home there and is very well looked after and safe.

We placed my uncle into Lennel House in October 2025 following concerns at home. He is loving life, he gets on with all the staff so well and his care needs are met with dignity and respect. Since admission he has been moved to a room with an ensuite which is so much better for him. All in all, brill staff and management

Lennel is brilliant, from the staff to the atmosphere and service. They have taken my uncle George in and treat him as their own. the senior careers in particular are exceptional they go above and beyond to take care of George. Lovely clean location aswell

Our family are delighted with the excellent care of my father in law since admission last summer . The Staff are extremely welcoming friendly and attentive and my father in law is very happy and settled in Whim Hall. He has a lovely homely room , enjoys the activities, food and company of others . The Home is always clean , tidy and nicely decorated . Such a lovely homely setting in the country which has been an excellent choice .

My Aunt has been in Whim Hall Care Home for over 5 years and I would like to thank the Staff and Management for the care that was provided for my Aunt. Staff were always approachable. Nothing was too much trouble and anything that was asked of the Carers was promptly attended to. My Aunt was treated with respect and dignity at all times and she was always at ease when Staff were interacting with her. She enjoyed the musical entertainment, church services and visits from Holly the dog. I was always welcomed when I visited and informed of how my Aunt was getting on, as things were not always easy due to her condition. Visiting was always a pleasure and cups of tea readily available. Thank you everyone at Whim Hall.

My family and I reside overseas and we are my brother's only relatives. While he has excellent friends who have supported him with his dementia journey, Whim has been his rescue. We visited during the month of November and whilst my brother had only been living there for 6 weeks, his friends noted a change in his well being. He is enjoying the engagement with staff members, he remarks on the food as being very good and plenty of it. He loves that his clothes return washed to him every day. Whilst he is unhappy with his medical condition he says he feels happy at Whim and feels he is being well cared for. On my visits to Whim I could witness some very lovely caring being offered to other residents. Aged care is not an easy job and in many ways under appreciated, I hope the staff at Whim know we fully appreciate their high level of professionalism.

My Aunt has been a resident at the Whim Hall since 2020 unfortunately she was put in there due to the covid pandemic as there was no other place due to the pandemic . Our family are open minded so we hoped that her stay would be comfortable and pleasant . As time went on we found this to be a totally different senario although the staff then were able to supply entertainment and communication to the residents this changed over a peiod of time as staff left , after continuous visits we found residents being left in chairs with no one around , lack of staff to answer the door and a couldnt care attitude when residents became upset . The lack of one to one support is non existant and we witnessed a resident leaving through a alarmed door onto a snow laden staircase and it took 20 mins for staff to become aware of this incident . The encouragement of keeping up fluids due to the heat in the place is sorely lacking and the staff try their best . The place should be closed.

Mum is really happy in this care home. Staff are very good with the residents and friendly to visitors. The room and common areas all smell clean and fresh, mum's personal care is good and mum enjoys the food provided. We checked out care homes in our area before placing mum here, and we're happy that we have made the right choice and that mum is being well cared for.
