Richmond Villages have been providing prestigious retirement communities for over 25 years. Part of Bupa, their mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The most reassuring aspect of a Richmond Village is having the facilities and services all in one place to help you respond to every twist and turn life takes. Support varies at each location, but across Richmond Villages they offer residential, nursing and dementia care. In 2021, Richmond Villages opened the UK's first specialist dementia centre, Richmond Willaston, inspired by the Dutch household model, enabling residents to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

Set in the heart of each village within a bright, vibrant community, each home is beautifully presented with wide spacious corridors leading to private rooms with en-suite for residents. Alongside care delivery, their passion is to provide some wonderful on site facilities enabling you to keep as fit and healthy as you can, with many of the villages offering state-of-the-art Wellness Spas.

Richmond Villages is a special place where new beginnings start and quality memories are made.

Having started his journey with Richmond Village in Witney in an independent living flat nearly ten years ago my father is now permanently on the Care Floor. Here he has a lovely light room overlooking the gardens and is close to the shared living/dining area which means there are always staff and
other residents passing by. He moved to the Care Floor when his mobility started deteriorating and he needed medical care, as a family this gave us great peace of mind, we knew he was being looked after. The nursing and care staff are absolutely amazing, always cheerful and ready to chat whilst doing their duties. Dad is still very much involved with the activities provided by a very enthusiastic team downstairs in the hub of the village where he is able to interact with residents living in other areas of Richmond. All the staff from the maintenance team, the cleaners, the hospitality team, the lovely receptionists, carers and nurses are just wonderful, so kind and always smiling.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for taking the time to submit your review, its great that Dad has the benefit of being supported for his care needs on the care floor and still visits friends and the facilities in the wider village. Dad is such a popular person with all the residents and team at Witney. His positivity shines through
Kind Regards,
Martin

The staff could not have been friendlier or more caring, by day 2 they all knew Muns name and she felt supported all the way.
She was encouraged to join in activities and soon made friends.
24/7 there was support there when needed
Reply from Samantha Walker, Care home Manager at Richmond Villages PainswickThank you so much for your lovely feedback. Were delighted to hear how welcomed and supported Mun felt during her stay. Our team prides itself on creating a friendly, caring environment where every resident is known as an individual, so its wonderful to know that she felt at home so quickly.
Were also pleased that she enjoyed the activities and made new friendsfeeling connected and included is such an important part of what we aim to provide. And of course, having support available 24/7 is something we take very seriously, so were glad this gave her and your family peace of mind.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. It truly means a lot to the whole team.

Bede really is an exceptional place, it is decorated beautifully and has a real homely feel. But the most special thing about Bede is all the amazing staff. Everyone is friendly and cannot do enough for both dad and our family, it really is a team effort. From the carehome management, nursing staff,
carers, cleaners, activity team, hostesses, chefs, gardening team, reception team, laundry team, maintenance & driving teams. It really is a special and unique place and is first class all round.
We are so grateful for the care and support that dad receives every day from all the staff and do not hesitate in recommending the carehome.

My elderly Mum initially stayed at Richmond Villages Wood Norton for 2 weeks Respite Care on their care floor, following falls at home and subsequent hospitalisation. Following this period, she has now moved in on a permanent basis.
The care and support of all of the staff at WN has been amazing, nothing
is too much trouble and it has really helped my Mum in the transition from fiercely independent living into a new way of life. She has the security of someone always being there, 24/7, she is actively monitored to prevent further falls and is given all the assistance she needs. All in a very friendly and supportive environment. She is also able to partake in the regular activities and entertainments as and when she feels like it.
It has made a huge difference to her and to us also, relieving us of the constant worry and stress when she was on her own.
Reply from James Culley, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Wood NortonThank you so much for the lovely review of Wood Norton Care Home. We are so pleased the transition into Wood Norton has gone smoothly and we are very pleased your Mum is enjoying Wood Norton as her new home. Thanks again for the great Review.

Richmond Painswick is an exceptionally good care home. The staff are wonderful and very caring and have built up excellent relationships with my father. There are plenty of activities and a welcoming restaurant with very good food.
Residents can join in as much as they like but also have the opportunity
for private time when they wish. Their care home has been a great choice.

We're delighted to hear how happy your father is at Richmond Painswick, and it means a great deal to our whole team to know that the care, companionship, and support we provide are making a positive difference.
Our staff work hard to build meaningful relationships with every resident, so your kind comments about their warmth and attentiveness are truly appreciated. We're also pleased that the variety of activities, welcoming restaurant, and balance between engagement and privacy have all contributed to your father feeling at home.

At Richmond the nurses and carers are all so helpful and kind. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Food is very healthy, and fresh, well presented, and plentiful . My mother has settled in very well, enjoying the entertainment put on each day too.

Mum has dementia and it has worsened recently but the carers, manager and deputy manager there have been so kind, always going above and beyond for Mum as her condition has changed.
They always have suggestions to try approaching things differently with her care when her dementia means she's more
resistant sometimes.
A welcoming and very caring environment with the receptionists always greeting relatives with amazing knowledge of who they are and how Mum's been recently.
Mum's lucky to be able to be at Richmond Village at this stage of her life when she needs so much extra care and support.

Richmond Villages Witney

from Harry B (Husband of Resident) published on 10 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I'm husband to a relatively young person at Witney Richmond. My wife, Nuala, is disabled and she is in for a long-term respite stay. The experience has been so positive. She has proper care - especially lots of really kind, personal human interaction. She's made proper friends with staff and residents.
The spa facilities have been amazing, the food has been great - and, again, real personal warmth everywhere.
Nuala and I have four kids ages 10-12. So it was a huge leap for us booking into RV. But the kids visit often (and are made very welcome) and it's been easy for Nuala to make trips home as often as she wants. Nuala isn't a typical resident, but she's been made to feel really welcome and really included. Her stay here hasn't felt like a response to a crisis situation. It's been more like a period of rest and healing that she really needed. It's been a source of reassurance to me to know that my beautiful wife is being so well cared for. So thank you: the experience has been a joy.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for the positive response and I know from chatting to your dear wife that her regular stays here enhance her rest and healing. Positive to know that the team, care, property along with the wellbeing Spa facilities and constant access for you and the children supports.
Kind Regards,
Martin

when the staff are under pressure, they remain calm and considerate.

My Mum lived at Richmond for just under 2 years until she sadly passed away. From the moment Mum was shown round the home until she passed she and the family were treated with kindness, respect and understanding. The staff are a real asset from the sales team, to housekeeping, reception, maintenance
and nursing, they all had time for Mum and made her feel like she was never a bother, despite some medical challenges.
I would recommend the home to anyone especially if you are nervous about placing your loved one in a home.

A massive 'Thank you' to Victoria and the hospitality team for their excellent organisation and delivery of my father-in-laws wake. Having been a respite resident over the summer, he loved his time at Richmond, it only seemed fitting for us to have his wake here. Victoria was compassionate and understanding
of our needs, ensuring all of our wishes were taken into consideration. She gave very helpful suggestions and then took complete control, taking away any other stress we had at this difficult time.
On the day her and her staff were attentive and ensured all guests were taken care of. The buffet and drinks provided were excellent! The compliments we received were lovely to hear and reassured us that we had given my father-in-law the kind of send off he'd be proud of. We were hosted in the main Brindleys Restaurant and private dining area as we had 80 guests.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Richmond, Victoria and her team for hosting a wake. THANK YOU AGAIN!

My Mother was a resident at Bede Richmond for two weeks before she passed away. My Mother was always reluctant to go into a care home but unfortunately, due to her health, she had no option. Once she was in Bede it was clear that this was no normal care home, it was more like a 4 star hotel, the facilities,
staff, food and location were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and when I would leave in the evening, I had the peace of mind that she was genuinely being cared for. I can not say enough good about this care home and the staff

My mother lived on Dovedale, at Richmond Village for 8 years, following a stroke. She received full nursing care for the duration. Whilst her mobility was severely impaired, she was as active as possible, especially in her first few years at Richmond when she was a lot stronger. She joined many of the
great activities and had a good social circle. My mother received consistently strong care, but as a family, we are most especially grateful for the compassion and kindness showed by all the wonderful staff in the final weeks of her life, allowing her a dignified, calm passing.

I cannot fault the staff that looked after mum during her year stay in the Care Home before sadly passing away in December 2025. This is all staff, starting with the Management Team of Tina & Chanel, always available if required, the attentive Nursing Team playing close attention to mums daily needs
& health , liaising closely with GP & Hospital Services swiftly as needs occurred, the day to day Care Team all treating mum with dignity & kindness as a person, a friend & not simply as a patient, right through to the domestic team always engaging with mum with a smile on their face.
Sincere thanks all for taking such good care in mums final year it is very much appreciated.
Best regards

Richmond Villages Wood Norton

Our experience with the Wood Norton home has been very good, the meals - the service- the care and attention that the carers give also the medical service the nurses provide, all of these make my wife feel cared for, also for me when visiting my wife on a daily basis. The staff look after me. My wife
has had a stroke which has affected all of her left hand side, she cannot walk, she needs to be hoisted out of bed into a wheelchair or onto a bed pan, this makes it all the more difficult for her, but with the help of carers and all the staff at Wood Norton, she is managing very well.
