Review of Lydgate Lodge from D H (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mum initially went to Lydgate Lodge for respite care due to the progression of Alzheimers greatly affecting her safety at home. Every aspect of mums stay has been a positive one. Each and every member of the team are just wonderful and do an amazing job. They are warm friendly and approachable. They know my mum so well, she loves to have a cheeky chat with them! I am confident & happy that mums needs are met with care, compassion & dignity. The wellbeing of families & loved ones are also met with thoughtfulness. The management deal with any issues promptly & professionally. Each event is extremely well managed. The effort to make them special is amazing. My particular favourite was Mother's Day. It was such a lovely day. The decision to make mum a permanent resident was the toughest thing I have ever had to do. A year on, I know it was the best and right & only option for both mum & myself. A massive THANK YoU team Lydgate. You're all stars in my eyes.

Review of Colton Lodges Care Home from S W (Friend of Resident) published on 23 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
AVOID, AVOID
Appeared very nice on first impressions however after my friend moved in we noticed it wasn't as good as it appeared.
Upon visiting my friend we noticed he had declined massively in health and on numerous occasions told staff about this whom kept saying " they would keep an eye on him and let the dr review him in a few days. After visiting my friend on consecutive days we told the staff he needed a dr and that we noticed colour change in his fingers the dr was only rung the day after because the concerns were taken to the manager.
After dr visited the decision was taken to ring an ambulance.
Paramedics arrive and blood sugars were dangerously low even after we was told my friend had been eating and drinking which was false information.
My friend was taken to hospital where it was shown he had sepsis and an infection.
With deep sadness my friend passed away 10 days.

No compassion.

Review of Lydgate Lodge from Jon C (Son of Resident) published on 30 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Having spent almost 3 years in Lydgate Lodge Care Home mum sadly passed away on the 29 May 2026. It was so lovely to see both staff and other residents at mum's funeral yesterday. The care that she received at Lydgate Lodge was fantastic. Many of the carers became her friends and she looked forwards to the daily and often cheeky interactions that took place from both sides. As mum finally started to slip away they treated her with sensitivity, dignity, respect and a deep sense of compassion. Many of the staff were as distressed by her passing, as our family was. Those staff who cared for mum, throughout her stay at Lydgate Lodge, should be so proud of themselves for the care that they gave her, which was filled with love and selflessness. They were all a credit to their profession. Thank you. x

Review of Lydgate Lodge from Sally R (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The whole staff team have been extremely kind and supportive to Dad throughout his respite/rehabilitation stay at Lydgate Lodge. It was a great relief to have this period between hospital and returning home, enabling him to regain some mobility and confidence whilst in a safe and pleasant environment.
The staff were all very friendly, genuine, and visibly happy in their roles; providing kind support to the residents.
They strived to help Dad engage socially whilst respecting his sometimes need for his own quiet space.

Thank you to all.

Terry came to the care home with some trepidation because we have always been together for nearly 52 years. He settled in very well for his 2 weeks of respite care. The staff have been very well. He doesn't say much, probably due to his dementia but I know he has enjoyed his stay there. Thank you very much.
