I am extremely pleased with the care my Mother is receiving at Madelayne Court. The staff are attentive and are always putting on activities. They keep me informed of any changes with Mum's health which is reassuring. Another great touch is they take them on outings which my Mum enjoys. Thank you to
everyone at the home.

Everything at Humfrey Lodge is excellent. The staff is so kind and caring, and nothing seems too much trouble. The manager is lovely and always has time for a chat, whether it be about things in general or a specific concern. She is always helpful. The staff are always available when Mum needs help
in personal care or to get a cup of tea. It's just one big family. Thank you.

Since mum came to Windmill House she has been cared for brilliantly and treated exceptionally well.
Despite her complex needs linked to her Alzheimer's the staff have been amazing.
They care, they treat her with respect and every need is met.
The communication and support for families is brilliant
and it has been the best thing I could ask for for mum.
She is now safe and I can relax in the knowledge she is in the best place possible. A shared thank you to the staff team is nowhere near enough to express my gratitude!
Reply from Maria Paranal, Manager at Windmill House

Thank you for your kind words and hope mom continues to settle. Your appreciation will be shared to all the staff team.

I am happy with my wifes general and the programme of planned activities. The accommodation is very good, purpose light clean and functional. Less happy with carers do not seem interested, seem to just sit with mobiles on. Very little interaction with residents do not sit with them or engage in conversation.
Do not speak to me on visits apart from one lady.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad was a resident at St Michael's for a year, he settled quite quickly as there was plenty of room for him to walk about and spacious and clean bedrooms. Unfortunately my dad was placed on end of life care in June, I can honestly say the support and care my dad received was outstanding, he was treated
with such dignity and respect and supported us as a family with so much care. I can't thank them enough for making dad's final days as comfortable as possible. One staff member in particular was amazing, a truly lovely, kind carer with a heart of gold. Thank you from us all.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My assessment is based on my 2 visits per week. I have always found the staff very approachable and helpful. Although my mother does not take advantage, the activities and facilities at the home are excellent.
My mother's views are not totally reliable but she does complain quite regularly about the
night staff and a perceived lack of care. For myself, my only criticism is with my mum's room. The layout of the room means that she is unable to get to the window to pull the curtains and her carpet badly needs replacing or hard flooring installed.

Windle Court

from Kim H (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Mum was in Windle Court SWF for 7 months and in that time had a number of falls. She was not stimulated and the lack of this and not going outside had a profound effect on her body clock . Items would go missing - her handbag, purse, hearing aids, glasses. Which were never found which meant she could
not see properly and could not hear so she retreated into herself. She was often not included in outings and the regular walks that took place. I complained about these and other concerns with no response.
She had falls which needed hospital admissions and being unsteady on her feet was part of her vascular dementia. She was often dirty with food down her and one day was covered all down her in tea. It was left to just dry on her. she was normally sat in.the lounge with her back to the tv with little or no stimulation. She had a fall out of bed and I found she was bleeding laying on the floor all alone..social.care are investigating.
We feel guilty for sending Mum there. Don't do it!

Broomhills

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Choosing a care home for my loved one, is one of the hardest tasks I've undertaken but I needn't have worried. I can't believe the difference in mums wellbeing since joining Broomhills. The staff have bought out the very best in her and she enjoys the weekly trips out, craft activities and the coffee
and quiz mornings.
Nothing is too much trouble for the new manager and her remarkable team. They are very kind and caring but more importantly, they know their residents and meet their needs. The home is currently going through refurbishment and it looks amazing. The gardens and grounds are incredible and are a beautiful place to sit whilst visiting your loved ones.
A weekly visit from the hairdresser means mum feels pampered, a doctor's service is available should she need it and the monthly chiropody appointment keeps her feet in check. The access to a NHS dentist who also visits, has been a welcomed addition. Thank you for caring for mum so wonderfully, I really appreciate you all.
