Review of Oaklands Care Home from Bernice W (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother became a permanent resident , about 6 weeks ago. Prior to this she had respite care for a few weeks and was then able to transition to permanent care .
This was made so much easier for her , as she and I have found all the Team to be so helpful and caring( including behind the scenes staff ) Everyone has been so kind in helping her settle into her new room , which she loves.
Her care is outstanding and the Carers are very thoughtful and attentive .
The activities available are interesting with family/ friends invited to afternoon teas etc.

I'm glad to say that we are both very happy with Oaklands .

Very good home and caring staff. On Easter day they (the carers) sang along with me whilst I was listening to the church service on the radio. I enjoyed my meals. My family were invited to share Sunday lunch with me whilst I was there. Nothing was to much trouble the staff charged my phone and phoned my family who were on holiday when I missed the call so I could speak to them. Staff helped me to eat my meals

Mum came to Eversley Lodge for respite care whilst I was going on holiday. I needed to know that she was being cared for and safe while I wasn't around. She loved it so much she decided she didn't want to go back home. she has made so many new friends, residents and carers alike, and I can honestly say she is so very happy.
Knowing that she is safe in your hands has removed so much pressure from me. I really can't thank you all enough for all that you do for our mum.

Bless you all. xxx

Review of Downham Grange Nursing Home from M M (Sister of Resident) published on 27 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The Grange is very good. I feel that a introduction pack is required for the family ie like being told about changing doctor for the resident. Leaving a list when toiletries are required. Also clothing with room number on. What food can be taken in. When resident needs feet or haircut, also told about these costs at the start. Meet the manager at least once a year and being introduce to them.

Reply from Kelly Bermingham, Home Manager at Downham Grange Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind review and positive feedback about The Grange. We really appreciate your suggestions regarding a welcome pack for families, including information about GP registration, toiletries, clothing labelling, food items, and additional services such as hairdressing and foot care...

Review of St Mary's Care Home from Jane S (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
An outing was arranged to Caister Lifeboat Station and I joined my family as they got off the minibus. They were cheerfully and safely helped off the bus. We were welcomed at the cafe and assistance was given in helping to use their lift. Drinks and treats were soon provided and we all had the chance to view the lifeboat from above. We all then headed out towards the beach and could see the sea. This prompted lots of memories.
Both Lauren and Jane were on hand to help, chat, take photos, encourage and engage the residents and make sure everyone was warm enough, blankets were taken. All enjoyed it and were safe and supported.
We had a lovely time and it also prompted several conversations and memories about times gone by.
Thank you St Mary's for organising the trips which really cheer the residents and their families.

This all goes towards the real care and love that is given to residents and their families

Review of Oaklands Care Home from G T (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
All the staff at Oaklands are friendly and helpful. The staff are well briefed on the medical and care needs of my mum.

There are a wide range of activities that residents can choose to take part in, and frequent events for the families to enjoy and mix with the families of other residents. The food is a very good standard of nutritious with healthy options, fresh fruit etc. readily available. Recently they made extra efforts to make sure her birthday felt special.

Kings Court is very special. The care my partner received was 5 stars. You have an amazing nursing team and he wanted for nothing - every need was met. My friend had to vacate the home after 2and half years ,after it was taken over .she was 100 and had dementia but the reason given was they could not meet her needs any more , the staff when they were allowed were very kind to her ,but management on a whole were never access able, short of caring staff, they always looked tired , but did there best I just hope this new company address the issues raised, and they treat the residents with as much care as they have the new furnishings ..it was such a horrendous day moving my friend from familiar surroundings and people she recognized , every day I moaned about something ,I'm 78 and on most visits I ended up taking her to the loo ,because no one about xx rant over

My Mother was evicted at the age of 100 years old due to the fact we complained to the CQC about regular falls with her having regular bruises on her face and all over her body also fractured back and stitches in her head.
There is not enough staff to look after the people in there was no activities for the people some good staff there but not many.

My Mother has now been moved to another home, hopefully she will getter better care there.

Review of Brooke House Care Home from Val F (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I never thought I would have to face putting my dad into residential care, but from my first visit to Brooke House, I knew it was the right place for him. The welcome I received was so warm and loving, with everybody saying hello and smiling. The residents who were already there were obviously very happy and pleased to say hello, and I just knew that this was a place where dad would be safe and supported. And I wasn't wrong. He has been there a month now, and has made friends with staff and residents alike. Nothing is too much trouble, and there is always someone to ask, no matter how big or little the issue. I genuinely can't thank Brooke House enough, and dad has asked to stay - the best recommendation you can get.

Review of Brooke House Care Home from Sue L (Sister of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our sister moved permanently into Brooke House after spending a few weeks there for respite care. It was an anxious and emotional time for all of us, but it soon became clear that Brooke House was exactly where she needed to be. From the very beginning, the wonderful team showed such kindness, understanding and compassion that she quickly became part of the Brooke House family. Their care and dedication have made an enormous difference to her life. It has been a huge relief for us to know that she is safe, well cared for and that all her needs are being met. She looks happier and healthier and enjoys taking part in the activities. We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Brooke House for the exceptional care, support and friendship they have given our sister.

Review of Brooke House Care Home from Hannah H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My grandad came to Brooke house for respite after a lengthy hospital stay and has decided to stay as long term resident. The minute we, as a family, came to Brooke House for a look round we knew his needs would be met. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and everyone smiled. Grandad has been at Brooke house for a month now and has taken part in activities (some we never thought he would do) and has thoroughly enjoyed them all. His favourite is the exercise class. He was also taken for a day trip which he really enjoyed. Brooke house have been so accommodating and have allowed Granddads dog to visit him each week which always makes him smile. We cannot thank the staff enough for the excellent care they provide and the way they have made us a family feel comforted that his needs are being met.

Review of Brooke House Care Home from I W (Wife of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My husband moved into Brooke House in June. I was very concerned that he would not enjoy his move to residential care but he has settled in very quickly. He is very happy there. The atmosphere is very friendly and does feel like home. The staff are attentive and caring.
The rooms are comfortable and kept clean and tidy.
The meals are tasty and care is given to make them healthy and appealing with plenty of choice. I have to mention the delicious home made cakes too! The staff are aware of the importance of hydration and do all they can to persuade reluctant residents to drink plenty by always offering a good variety of hot and cold drinks.

When ever I go to visit there seems to be something going on from seated exercises, visits from mothers with young children, interesting talks, crafts, games and visits out into the community. It's great! I'm just so pleased my husband lives there now it's the best thing that could have happened for both of us. Thank you to all staff!

Simply the best . My 94 year old father was able to be admitted at short notice for a weeks respite . ( he has been in earlier in the year for a week ). The building is immaculate , being purpose built its light and airy , all rooms and lounges ( which there are 5 ) are very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. All meals are prepared on site to a very high standard . But most importantly ALL the staff are amazing , very professional, yet so friendly , it's like a home from home , with the added benefits of daily activities. Even tho my father is no longer with us , I still call in from time to time , to say hi and thank them again for everything they did for him (and me ). Highly recommend
