My mum was in for respite for 7 weeks following a long hospital stay. She was really well looked after despite having quite a number of medical issues. She commented on some of the staff being so caring and helpful. When we visited the welcome was always good and the rooms and communal areas very clean
and tidy. We were kept very well informed and the assessment from hospital to Ruby Lodge was well organised. Although I wish mum had made greater use of facilities we were happy that we felt she was always safe and secure. Mum said the food was exceptionally good and there were always options. She liked the fact there were a good number of vegetarian options too. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Ruby Lodge.

My dad has been in respite care at Ruby Lodge Care Home since January 2026. He is settled and happy in the home. The staff are so welcoming and made him comfortable from day one. He enjoys the company of the carers and other residents and the activities which help him to socialise. The support he has
is excellent, and I can relax knowing that he is safe and happy.

Mum is benefitting from the genuine care provided by the team at Ruby Lodge. She is enabled to be as independent as she can, the support steps up when she needs more help. When mum was poorly, the help was amazing. I can't thank them enough.

My dad has been living at Ruby Lodge Care Home since my mum died earlier this year.
He is settled and happy in the home. The staff are so welcoming and made him comfortable from day one. He enjoys the company of the carers and other residents and the activities which help him to socialise.
The support
he has is excellent and I can relax knowing that he is safe and happy.

My friend came for respite at Ruby Lodge. It is a truly amazing place where she had the best care ever. Friends and relatives were treated absolutely amazing. Coffee was a lovely gesture and the price was brilliant. Always someone to greet you on arrival. Would definitely recommend you.

Ruby Lodge was welcoming to My Mum and made her feel settled in, The staff were very kind and looked after Mum with her various needs, including getting her favourite newspaper!

All the Staff were very warm and friendly especially the Receptionist. Lovely Home, Good atmosphere. Very Clean. The overall experience was better than I expected. Facilities are very good. Coffee was very good.

My husband spent 10 nights at Ruby Lodge for respite. From the first visit to the discharge process I could not fault anything.
Time was taken to get to know my husband's needs along with his likes and dislikes. Communication was excellent and all members of the team were very friendly.
Ruby Lodge itself
is beautiful and extremely clean. I don't think there is anything to compare with it in this area.
We will definitely be using it again for future respite periods and look forward to
joining a coffee morning soon.

My relative first went to Ruby Lodge for respite after several falls and a spell in hospital. He has thrived in the short time he has lived there. He has put on weight and looks better than he has for the last two years. Every time we visit we find him playing a game or chatting to other residents.
His mental health and quality of life has improved and he is once again enjoying life. Really impressed with the staff who are very kind, know everyone's name and always know where we can find him. The facilities really contribute to his wellbeing.He benefits from being able to access different spaces around the building, whether that is scrabble in the pub, a coffee in the cafe, painting in the activity room or a quiet chat in a lounge.

My father has been at Somerset House Care & Nursing Home for several months, and the care has been great. The staff are kind, patient, and genuinely caring, always going the extra mile to make him comfortable and keep us informed.


The home is warm, clean, and welcoming, even though there are on

going improvements, with engaging activities that help residents stay active and happy. The nursing care is good - attentive, professional, and reassuring. It's clear the team truly care about every resident.


I'm deeply grateful for the compassion and dedication they show every day. Somerset House really does feel like a home for both residents and their families.

From the moment we walked through the door of Ruby Lodge Care Home, mum was made to feel welcome. It is a friendly, professional home with efficient, caring staff, management, reception, carers and entertainment. spacious and immaculate in all areas. Nothing is too much trouble if mum has needs or requests.

The staff at Somerset are a caring, kind and an attentive top down team. They are friendly,
open and welcoming each time I visit. They are interested in each of the residents and ask great questions to find the best ways of supporting people.... they even made welsh cakes for my mother on discovering
she was welsh and liked them... huge thank you for that.


Whilst there are areas of Somerset which might look a little tired, they are going through a huge programme of updating. My mums room is one of the new ones and it is fabulous, light and airy with an en suite bathroom which is perfect for her needs.


They have been very supportive of my mum, as it has taken a while for her to settle in the new environment and they understand the needs and challenges of people with dementia.

We would like to say how great full we are for the care and support all the staff provide at Somerset Nursing Care home for our 98 yr old Mum/Gran. I was very nervous and apprehensive of going into a care home for respite care. My fear was soon overcome when I arrived at the beautiful Ruby Lodge Care Home. The wonderful staff made my stay so enjoyable they couldn't do enough for me. I enjoyed the company, food and the excellent care I was given.
am returning shortly for respite care again this time I am happy and looking forward to meeting everyone again.
