When my mum was taken into hospital over a year ago, we were told she she couldn't return home as my dad couldn't take care of her needs any longer. She was put in an assessment home but it was awful. So chaotic, with residence with concerning needs and the Home itself was in a state of disrepair..
I feared for my Mum In that Home. When we said we didn't want her to stay in there, we were told we had to find our own home so my brother and I went out to find that Home and came across Abbey Grange. We were welcomed into the home by the lady on reception and was shown round by another lovely lady who unfortunately is no longer with us. We were made to feel very welcome and the Home itself felt incredibly welcoming. We decided that that's where we wanted my mum to go, but unfortunately the Home is so popular it's taken us a long time to finally get her in there but now she's there we are quite happy with the Home. The (Carers) seem to be very attentive and the home itself seems comfortable.
Reply from Kerry Peach, Home Manager at Abbey Grange Care & Nursing HomeWe're really pleased that your mum is now settled at Abbey Grange and that you're happy with the care and comfort she receives. It's lovely to hear you felt welcomed from your first visit, and we're grateful you chose us to care for your mum.

Mum was made to feel welcome right from the start.
She is looked after with care and dignity, nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
The staff are all friendly and approachable and will answer any questions or queries
Abbey Grange itself is a beautiful building and the inside is very welcoming,
warm,clean and tidy.
The security is also excellent in my opinion.
I am very confident to recommend this care home to anyone.

My father in-law had the misfortune to experience this care home. I wont go into great detail, i've seen replies to other negative reviews where the management suggest contacting them to discuss the issues. I discussed the issues while my father-in-law was in the home, repeatedly and they were not
addressed. These carers who we are expected to put on a pedestal fir their efforts ( at this home st least) manage to sit outside 2 sometimes 3 times an hour for a cigarette. When it came to caring gir my father in-law I can only say in my opinion that the staff were happy to convince you they had heard your requests but never once acted upon them. The nurse who was sent to answer our medical concerns did not have good enough english language skills to explain how much fluid he had drank. If she didn't like the question she rolled her eyes and pretended not to understand. I could go on and on but the gist of this feedback is, please find another facility for your loved one.
Reply from Kerry Peach, Home Manager at Abbey Grange Care & Nursing HomeWe appreciate your feedback and take your concerns very seriously, and we are very sorry to hear that your father-in-laws experience did not meet expectations. The well-being and dignity of our residents are always our top priority, and we take concerns such as yours extremely seriously. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you so we can fully understand your concerns and take appropriate action. Please contact our home directly should you wish to discuss this further.

My dad has only been here a short while as he was here for short term assessment. He has been cared for really well. We have found all the staff to be very friendly & helpful. He is being transferred to another nursing home for location reasons. We have no complaints regarding the care he has received.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who have been involved with his care.

I have my mum and dad in Belmont House Care & Nursing Home and all the time they have been there, they are treated with utmost respect and care by the staff. The staff always seem on hand and never far away to assist any of the residents with their daily requirements. Family and friends visiting are
always welcomed, even if you turn up at a busy period such as meal times. The bedroom and living areas always appear very clean and tidy. It's nice to see the elderly residents are well looked after and thought about during their latter years of life.

My Mum moved into Belmont House almost two years ago. She has had Alzheimer's for nine years and as the disease progressed she needed to go into full-time care. Before Mum moved into care she was not eating and was on protein drinks prescribed by her GP. She was losing weight and wasting away before
our very eyes. She was also refusing to take her medication and threw her tablets across the room. As a consequence, she was feeling very ill.
When Mum moved into Belmont House she started eating again. She is given food that she can eat with her fingers as she now struggles to use a knife and fork. She now has a good appetite and has gained weight. Her medication is given covertly so she is no longer getting the symptoms she had due to not taking her tablets. All of the staff there are wonderful. They treat Mum with dignity and she is very settled and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I am always kept in the loop if there is a problem. I could not be happier with Mum's care.

My father moved to Belmont in January 2023. The staff have been nothing short of amazing on what has been an emotional roller-coaster.
Dad had a real dip last Autumn and staff were fundamental in resourcing physiotherapy, tests, advice from the medical profession plus guidance and emotional support
to myself. I felt so guilty for dad agreeing to move into Belmont and it has taken me a long time to process that guilt, however, it was the best decision I have ever made for my dad and I can never thank them enough.

Resident admitted at short notice. No pre-admission assessment. Diagnosis of quadriplegia not noticed. Patient hoisted on straps. Staff generally friendly and helpful but much misunderstanding and misinformation.
Two hourly turns from spinal unit request changed by management to four hourly - and
longer. Resident now has large bed sore on lower spine, now being dressed 3 times daily. High-dose antibiotics causing mouth ulcers. Is on morphine patches.
Two hourly turns now being administered but physio to prevent spasticity not recommended.
Resident now very frail, almost back in foetal position, under palliative care, very depressed. Refusing food and drink. Deteriorating rapidly.
