My Mother moved into Tallington Lodge earlier this year after a spell in hospital following a Stroke. The facilities and staff at Tallington are superb. Mum always comments on how well looked after she is and how she feels like royalty. The staff are excellent; they are so caring and nothing is ever
to much trouble for them. Her room is lovely, really spacious with a small patio area outside her back door. The food is amazing, such good quality. Mum hasn't looked as well as she does since moving to Tallington in years.
I can't recommend Tallington highly enough.

It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make to have to put both my parents into permanent care. The events of December 15th 2024 made it crucial that I acted fast and with the help of our Adult Care Manager she swiftly found them both rooms at St John's. I cannot praise them for their support,
help and kindness is getting Mum and Dad accepted within 24 hours. Lately the Senior Nurse has stepped up to Manager and the care and consistency of the Team has been amazing!! All of them, Chefs and kitchen staff, carers. One staff member in particular is a dream! Dads Bestie! They had 2 years of living in their own home with carers 4 times a day, but My biggest worry was night times, although they both had fall alarm detectors and good friends close by they needed more and have truly found it at St John's. I can now sleep at night living 80 miles away. You are all Fantastic thank you so much..

I would appreciate it if my father's glasses were cleaned regularly and that his shirts were pressed apart from that he is well cared for and would like cabbage in his lunchtime menu. He is happy on his room watching television or listening to the radio.

I really cannot understand how they get the high quality reviews they do. The facilities appear towards the top end and the "sell in" appeared so positive however the reality of care was something very different to be observed and experienced. Promises of involvement and communication proved empty handed,
care and compassion was clearly lacking with repetitive oversights despite raising concerns and not once, despite raising these concerns could they follow their own complaints process - not even the manager!
It is pretty obvious that senior management has been promoted through longevity not ability or skill set - something that then fed down.
Due to his fragile state of health we had to think long and hard about moving dad elsewhere but thank goodness we did as from the moment he arrived at his new home they were exceptional from beginning to end.
Make sure you look through the gloss

Mum has been in Ashwood now for a couple of months. The staff are all approachable and will have a chat with you about any concerns or information that you require. Nothing seems to much for them. My father spent two week here whilst waiting for care package at home. The staff welcomed Dad with open arms, he felt safe, cared for and had people to talk too. He was eating and drinking, given medication on time. I cannot expressed how much we wish he could stay or maybe one day return here. He also
wishes he could stay, he already misses everyone.

My mother has been here for nearly a year. Every time I see her she says how she is so well looked after and how nice everyone is. She's happy! So I am! My mother has been a resident at Tallington Lodge for over four years. This is a well-designed home, with spacious public spaces and comfortable rooms for each resident. The food is good, the laundry is done carefully and to a high standard and her room is kept clean on a daily basis. This is a very
friendly place.
Although my mother is very frail and rarely leaves her room, the carers are always keen to help her with daily needs. This also applies to the other staff - cleaners, catering, front of house, laundry and activities - who all take an active interest in the residents.
Senior carers and management are always ready to discuss issues and health matters when required. The home liaises well with the local GP practice and other NHS services.
I have always thought Tallington Lodge to be a good care home, but with the arrival of the new manager earlier this year, I now consider it to be excellent.

My Mother was a resident for 2 years and was always treated with respect and kindness. Her room was always clean and smelt fresh. She especially enjoyed the food and we were impressed that the chef knew all her favourite dishes. Having extra living space and an in-house cafe was a marvellous as it meant
visitors didn't have to sit in her bedroom. The outside garden and courtyard are excellent spaces that we all enjoyed. I would certainly recommend.

Activities staff have taken a nose dive since Mum first moved here Oct 23. Used to be a fun place to be, with music playing in the back ground, now its a sad place. Staff are very caring and work very hard but activities staff need sorting - more activities staff needed. Also not everyone likes crafts!
my Mum needs more stimulation, so much so that I now pay for a private carer 2hrs a week to take her out. (not good considering the amount of fees paid). I am hoping her private caring does not go against her receiving her share of activity.
Mum used to like going to The Ark - there used to be enough staff to take 3 or more people there, just to get away from the home, now seemingly only 1 person can be taken, only 1 member of staff available to do it. The activity sheet states The Ark trip on Friday which portrays there is a trip of a few people - I find out today that its only for 1 person!!? Is the sheet just a paper exercise? disappointing for Mum. More staff needed please.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review for Neale Court Care Home. We are sorry to hear that you feel there's been a decline in the activities since your mum moved in. We completely understand how important it is for our residents to feel stimulated, engaged, and part of a lively, happy home, and we're taking your feedback on board. We're currently reviewing our activities provision and have recently advertised for additional activity staff to help us bring more variety and energy back to the home. We understand how important this is, and we are committed to making improvements. We are also looking at how we communicate trips like The Ark to ensure plans reflect what's realistically possible and avoid confusion. Please be assured that any private support arranged for your mum will not affect her access to group activities-we want all residents to enjoy a full and stimulating lifestyle.
