My bother was being care for by staff in the above home and the care was very good. The staff were excellent to the many family members who spent many hours with my brother before he died. We were extremely grateful to them all.

My friend was transferred for nursing care from a previous care home that couldn't cater for his health needs. His health has improved to such an extent in the hands of the excellent nursing staff at Hollie Hill, that he feels confident to return home now. What he does not realise, however, is that
he'll no longer get a cooked breakfast and 3-course lunch if he were to go home, even with home carers! Hollie Hill staff are friendly and caring. I find it quite relaxing when I go to visit and am able to make us both a cuppa in the little kitchen there. Many thanks Hollie Hill for doing an excellent job!

Mam was given a place at Hollie Hill after a worrying hospital stay, and it couldn't have worked out better. Not only did she get good care, she thrived there.
Another review mentioned the food, and from what we saw it was good, but also frequent, to the point where Mam gained all the weight lost
in hospital and more!
She found a new community, with the staff being caring, supportive and encouraging, and an activity programme with plenty to do if people choose. Bingo, arts/crafts, Owl sanctuary visits, cocktails/pool party in the garden are just some of the things Mam took part in, and residents had trips out to the coast etc.
As a very sociable lady, Mam had a wonderful time at Hollie Hill; we couldn't have hoped for better.

Mum has been a resident on the nursing wing for a couple of months now. The care and respect shown to her by all staff is brilliant. Any suggestions made by myself and other family members are considered and tried and it feels that nothing is too much trouble.

Although mum is not very outgoing, the

staff all try to get her involved in any activities which are going on, rather than letting her stagnate in her room, again much appreciated by the rest of the family as we can not be with her all the time.

Mum has been particularly impressed with the speed and efficiency of the laundry service. This may not resonate with many, but mum has always been smartly dressed and having clean pressed clothes is important to her.

Reply from Louise Porter, Reviews Team at Hollie Hill Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience. We are delighted to hear that your mum is receiving such brilliant care and respect from our trustworthy staff. We appreciate your feedback, we will continue to support her involvement in activities while maintaining the quality of service she values.

My Dad was fast tracked into Brockwell Court Care Home. We were met by the manager Paula who was helpful & kind from the start. During my Dad's stay he received the care that as a family we all hoped for. The nurses & care staff were outstanding, nothing was ever a problem & were always very approachable.
They didn't just look after my Dad but looked after the whole family when visiting him.
A special shout out to Deb's & Debra who were a great comfort to our family when my Dad passed away. They both showed compassion & respect, we can't thank you both enough for your kindness & hugs. Will definitely recommend this outstanding Care Home.

My mam has lived in Holly Hill for just over a year. She's very happy and content. She admits she eats far too much because the food is delicious, she is very happy with all the staff, and often goes out for trips. Her room is small, but all her own pictures are on the walls, and she feels at home.
This makes me feel very happy knowing she is loved and looked after.

As a physiotherapist working for 30 years with the NHS, I have seen the consequences of prolonged bed rest involving the elderly. Skin breakdown—especially over pressure areas, and low mood are common. With these issues in mind, I want to congratulate Michelle and her fabulous team for their exemplary
care. After 3 months of continuous bed rest, my mother-in-law is in excellent spirits due to the kindness and interaction of staff. Furthermore, her skin is in perfect condition due to first class care. Big thanks to the cleaners, too. You are all outstanding! Thank you

Everyone at the care home cares so much about the residents, looking after them very well. My mam really enjoys being a resident at Hollie Hill, and I am happy as I have no worries over her care. The activities provided have really improved over the last few months with a new coordinator in charge.
I feel it is very important that the residents need/get stimulation.

This care home I would recommend as being the best care home in Stanley. All the staff are excellent on the clinical section, both day and night staff. There should be more chairs in each room for visitors/family members. When patients are being treated and the doors are closed, chairs in hall way would
be helpful. Meals could be hotter when served. A swimming pool would be nice or the use of one to assist in exercise movement. It would be nice if management would introduce themselves to patients individually.

Brockwell Court needs some updating, furniture in residents room is tired, curtains were soiled, we have supplied our own curtains now .
The bedroom window is drafty.
On approach the entrance has cigarette ends scattered around, often residents and visitors are smoking at the entrance, causing other
visitors to walk through plumes of smoke, there is a large tin situated on a bistro table at the entrance where cigarette ends are put in, however, many are scattered around.
Staff do use a memorial seat away from the entrance to smoke- I have witnessed, however, a member of staff vaping at the entrance .
There is often agency staff on which does not give continuous care to residents as they do not know them or their needs.
Staff are pleasant and helpful.
Reply from Louise Porter, Business Development Manager at Brockwell Court Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
We're sorry to hear about the concerns raised regarding the room. We are currently redecorating the home room by room are now refurbishing our dementia community and will continue improving all areas. Your comments about furnishings, curtains, and the window will be followed up.
We do recognise the issues at the entrance. As residents and visitors often gather there, we are exploring options for a more suitable outdoor space and reinforcing expectations around smoking. Our use of agency staff has reduced significantly, though at times it is necessary to ensure safe staffing levels. We are actively recruiting to provide consistent care, and we do have two regular bank staff who are sometimes mistaken for agency.
We're pleased to hear our staff are seen a are seen as pleasant and helpful. If you would like to discuss anything further, Paula the Home Manager is always available.

We recently moved our mum into this care home, and we couldn't be happier with the decision. From the very beginning, the staff have been incredibly kind, welcoming, and supportive-not just to our mum, but to our whole family during what was a big transition.

The level of care she receives is excellent.

The team are attentive, patient, and genuinely compassionate, always taking the time to make sure she feels comfortable, safe, and valued. It's clear they really get to know each resident as an individual, which has made such a difference in helping her settle in.

The home itself is warm, clean, with a lovely atmosphere that feels like a community. There are always activities going on, and it's reassuring to see our mum encouraged to stay engaged.

Don't really know where to start. My poorly nana was admitted to hospital for 4 weeks. After it was took out of our hands about bringing nana home for her safety on the stairs we were offered a place in Abigail Lodge. We always said we would keep nana at home but it wasn't safe anymore. At first we were
so worried about her going in, but how wrong were we. She has been in just 4 weeks now and she absolutely loves it. She has a-lot more company with people popping in and out to see her. She is eating better, and the main thing is she feels safe, with nana being nearly blind this is a massive thing for her. The staff we have dealt with up to now have been wonderful. If nana is happy we are happy. She get took out on trips and loves the entertainment in the home.
We are really happy that nana has settled and thats down to the staff at Abigail. Thank you to all

I would just like to thank the Manager and her team for taking such good care of my mam. We are 18 months into a dreadful disease and have been in two other care homes and hospice care and I have to say the level of care and compassion we have received has been outstanding.
When you are going through
such an awful time, prompt and quick care is so necessary and The manager has certainly gone out of her way to make sure this has happened. The nurses and carers cannot help you enough. I realise that things take time as they have so many residents to take care of, but they always get to mam and treat her with respect and professionalism. Thank you Brockwell team you are literally amazing.
