Kippingtons Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the moment we walked into reception and were given directions to find my sister (room 20). We were greeted by smiling and happy staff. My sister's room was spacious and with many personal items. Lots of family photographs. Every area was spotlessly clean. My sister seems happy and contented, she's
93 and recently became a resident.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Divisional Marketing Manager at Kippingtons Nursing HomeThanks so much for this lovely review! We really appreciate you taking the time to share how happy you are with the care your sister is receiving in our home. It's particularly lovely to hear about how happy and friendly you find the staff, and how you find the home to be spotlessly clean. It's a pleasure to have your sister with us.

Mum has lived at Firtree for just over a year and a half now. I have lived abroad for some of this time during which the manager has been exceptional. Always keeping me informed on mum and any health issues she has had. My mum is extremely happy and contented, loves each day and so looks forward to
the activities - i cannot think of a more home from home than Firtree.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf with the team at Firtree House Nursing HomeThank you for sharing your experience. It was a very difficult decision to place my dear mum into Firtree House and I had always assured her this wouldn't happen, but sadly after my dad passed away last year her health deteriorated and wasn't safe for her to be at home. I am fairly pleased with her care, sadly she's not happy with her new
room as she has no bathroom and has to use a commode. I have spoken to staff about this but unfortunately at the moment there isn't a room available with a bathroom.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Firtree House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate how difficult this decision must have been for you and understand your concerns about your mum's room and bathroom facilities in the original part of the house. Please be assured that the team will continue to support her with dignity and comfort. Your feedback is valued, and we're grateful for your trust during such a challenging time.

My grandmother has expressed on more than one occasion how happy she is with the care she is receiving & how kind & helpful everyone is.

My own interaction with all staff has always been very pleasant & all are happy to help & deliver their service with a smile. This includes all phone calls & personal

interaction.

The home is clean & calm & all communal spaces are well maintained. My grandmothers private room is a good size with an en-suite bathroom & 2 windows looking out onto the grounds.

It's comforting to see a relative content & comfortable. Thank you to all the staff.

This really is a wonderful home. Yes the building is old, but the staff? OMG, they are so caring.
I'm an infrequent visitor to my ex husband who lives here.
ALL the staff I encounter on my way through corridors, ask me how I am and remember me. I'm always astonished.
The care for Alan has been
exemplary. (He's been, I've got to say, brought back from 'near death', through their nursing care). Unbelievable care.
No money could provide more..
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Firtree House Nursing HomeThank you for sharing such a powerful and thoughtful review. My dad was discharged to Kippingtons from hospital with dementia, Parkinson's, cancer among other things. At every stage, the staff in the home were very kind, warm, welcoming and friendly, very caring, responsive and hard-working. Every time we visited, we felt very welcome and could see that it was
a happy place to live and work. Many of the staff have worked there for years. It has a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming, flexible and putting the needs of the residents first. They are very capable to care for the needs of a wide range of people from light needs to very heavy duty needs. The home is very well managed and well lead. The food is excellent. My dad ate much better there than he had for years at home. They do their best to keep the residents stimulated with activities. It's a lovely physical environment, very homely and has a beautiful garden. They were very responsive to the needs of my dad as they arose. I thoroughly recommend the home.

When first walking into the reception at Kippingtons, my children and I had a really good feeling about it. The reception staff are warm and welcoming, offering us refreshments. We walked into the lounge where some residents were playing a game. They seemed relaxed and happy. The care staff and nurses
are so lovely and seem to have lots of patience and understanding. The rooms are lovely. The dining room is bright and relaxed and the food is great. The grounds/garden is pretty. We wanted my husband to be looked after by this kind and caring home.

My friend has been staying at Kippingtons for a few weeks now. She was transferred from hospital after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The care and staff have been excellent with her. The staff, carers and nurses are very good, and you can tell that they really care - it's not just a job for them. The nurses, in particular, are excellent with their support and help.
