Cedar View Care Centre

from M R (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My father was in Cedar View for nearly 4 months until he passed away at the end of Jan 2026. From the first day, when the manager accepted him at short notice, the staff were incredible supportive and helpful to both him and me. I visited often twice a day and got to know many of them well.
It is a
challenging role dealing with so many residents with complex needs, but they keep to a tight routine and treat all of them as individuals and with respect. Both the managers are excellent and always available if you have any concerns. The manager goes round each day to the rooms to see how the residents are. She very much knows what is going on which is a real asset and very reassuring. The carers and duty nurses work very hard, there are some excellent ones that stand out but all do their best and are courteous and helpful.
So despite it being an emotional time for both myself and my father, their support and care allowed me to have some extra time with him and I would recommend their home.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Divisional Marketing Manager at Cedar View Care CentreThank you very much for your kind words - they mean so much to the whole team. We're so sorry for your loss, but it was a privilege to care for your father at Cedar View. We're happy to hear that you were so pleased with the care your father received and the supportive management. If there's ever anything more we can do to support you, please don't hesitate to ask.

My husband was taken into the care of Cedar View staff for nearly 5 months from hospital before his peaceful passing in February 2026. From the positive, reassuring Manager, to all the Admin and Care staff we met during that time, they were always very approachable, respectful, and clearly strive hard
to work as a team. Care work is such a difficult job, but the friendly and professional way always shone through.
Our family will be forever grateful for their endless patience during a very difficult and emotional time for us.

My mother has been treated with such dignity, politeness, friendliness and a warm welcome not only for her but me and my wife too and our family. Getting to know the staff on the first floor and in reception we were most struck by the dedication and care to the residents. Gradually my mum was encouraged
to get involved in some of the activities but always at her own pace. Her wishes were always respected. Full respect and gratitude to all involved in her care. I couldn't recommend this care home more highly!

Here, visitors are made welcome and valued in their support of the resident. We notice that people are smiling when we come into the home, and we were particularly impressed and touched by the staff coming into Mary's room to sing Happy Birthday on her 80th. They also laid on a delicious buffet tea
for the guests. Many seem happy in this home and appreciate the cheerful members of staff who pop into her room to care for her or have a chat.

Bourne House

from R C (Friend of Resident) published on 3 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife and I have known the resident for over 55 years - he was one of her university friends. He moved into Bourne House after a mental health crisis arising from a combination of long untreated schizophrenia and more recent Alzheimer's. For the first time in his life, the illness is being properly
medicated. This and the loving care with which he is treated at BH has resulted in the appearance of a side to his personality which I have never seen before. He now asks me how I am, how did I get on fixing the car and so on. His relationship with his long-term partner when she visits has also improved back to how it was 20 or 30 years ago. For this I am beyond grateful to the staff and management at BH. They are always friendly and welcoming when we visit, and clearly treat the place as the residents' home rather than just a workplace - as the motto in the hallway proclaims. The vibe of a place like this always comes down from the top and it's a genuine tribute to their manager.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Bourne HouseThank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. I was so impressed by my friend Roger's peace of mind when I recently visited him that I went into the manager's office before leaving. I spoke to Ben and told him that when I had asked Roger how he felt in the home he said that he felt 'safe'. It is a wonderful thing when an older vulnerable person
feels secure and comfortable and well looked after.
Thank you Bourne House team, I am always impressed by the kindness and professional care that you give Roger, whenever I come in and see him. This is clearly how you are all the time.

Hi there, to all views of acacia care home, I am the son of Josefina and I would just like to say since my mother has been at this care home. She has responded very very well before she went into the care home. She was not responding to anyone talking or engaging with everyone, but since she has been
there, she has been talking. She has a smile on her face. She's very relaxed and as far as I'm concerned, she's looking much more better and more. Healthier and now she's engaging in activities and exercise which is much better for her health and well-being. She seems to enjoy everything there and the staff are very friendly with her and make her feel comfortable and being more like at home. I rate this a five star rating and review for this care home. It seems to me that the staff care for their patients there and I'm very friendly with them and every time I go to see my mother they welcome me. So yes this is A very calming and welcoming care home. I'll leave a five star rating
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia Care CentreThank you so much for your heartfelt review and for sharing your mother's wonderful progress since joining Acacia Care Centre. my father has been at Bourn house for over 2 years, the staff are friendly and seem well trained, I am in care myself so I take a very serious interest. When I did have a problem (not with the care) it was delt with promptly.
They have a lot of activities for residents and do day trips, to garden centres
and alike. There are things going on in the garden in the nice weather. They always celebrate birthdays and they make their own caked which are delicious. The home is clean and well kept and there is no smell in there, the food is cooked on site and looks lovely and my dad has a cooked breakfast each day which he loves.
He is monitored and his health is good, he has dementia and bed bound he is clean and he is checked regularly for pressure sores, and if there treated quickly. I would recommend to anybody looking for a nursing home for a loved one.
