My mother lives at Oaken Holt Care Home
It is set in an amazing location with spacious rooms with a beautiful view some with direct access to the garden and would suit those residents looking for a more countryside location. The carers are very kind and caring to the residents. The whole team provide
a homely environment for the residents and my mother enjoys living here. It is also reassuring that there are nurses on site every day. The team have also been very supportive of the families. The food is very good. The permanent staff are very good but sometimes there are agency staff and a little lack of continuity. The activities I am not so sure because my mother is not interested in them but this is not the fault of the care home.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential HomeThank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're so pleased your mother is happy at Oaken Holt and that you value the caring team, beautiful setting and nursing support. We appreciate your comments about staffing continuity and will continue striving to provide the best possible experience for residents and families.

Mum is so much happier here than she was at her first care home.
Her room is lovely, in a beautiful place in a gorgeous, tranquil setting with views of Farmoor Reservoir through the trees. The care is outstanding. The permanent staff in all departments - nursing, caring, domestic, catering, entertainment,
ancillary, and management - are lovely, genuinely caring people. Communications are excellent, including the direct contacts between Oaken Holt and GPs and other NHS services.
I strongly recommend that you go for a visit and an initial meeting

We have been so relieved and delighted to have found Tall Trees for our elderly mum. We looked at various homes in the area and it was the kind, understanding nature of the manager and all the staff that convinced me that this would be the best fit for her post hospital respite care, after initially
wanting to be back at home, mum has come to her own conclusion that life at Tall Trees is much more pleasant and now wants to stay permanently. This is amazing and down to the level of support, service and kindness received.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We recently had to find a long term nursing home for my elderly mother in law following a fall and time in hospital. Abbeycrest was by far the best in the area. We as a family are extremely impressed with the level of care and compassion shown to not just her but us as a family. Her deterioration has
been swift and at times challenging, we have been involved in every care decision made, being given full information and compassion for what is not an easy situation.
The home itself is purpose built, beautifully set out, spotlessly clean. The staff are amazing, always friendly, nothing is too much bother, all acting with respect and professionalism
Reply from Rowen Campbell, on behalf of the team at Abbeycrest Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write us a review - we do appreciate it. Many thanks yet again to the Manager and Deputy Manager at Stowford House for their continued concern and care for both my parents over the course of a difficult month for them both. Yet again, hospital transport booked for my mother's crucial appointment today didn't arrive.
Yet again, the Management

Abbeycrest provides an excellent environment for all those needing care - and particularly for residents living with dementia. All the staff I've interacted with come across as compassionate, patient, and highly professional. They take the time to understand each resident's individual needs. They
treat everyone with dignity and respect and this creates a calm and welcoming environment.

The home itself is clean and comfortable with a warm atmosphere that helps residents feel safe and settled. The food is great!

Communication with families is clear and supportive and this gives us real peace of mind.

I would highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking a reliable, caring, and well-managed environment, especially for those requiring dementia care.

My husband, Graham, has been staying at Huntercombe Hall Care Home for the past months, and I am very happy and grateful for the level of care he receives. The staff are always kind, patient, and attentive to his needs.
They communicate with me regarding keeping me informed about his health and daily

The home is clean, well organised, and has a warm atmosphere. I especially appreciate how the team encourages residents to take part in activities, which has had a positive impact on his mood and wellbeing overall. My husband entered Huntercombe Hall for end of life care at the end of October 2025. He died on 16th December. I visited him everday and the care he received was wonderful. I was happy to leave him every day knowing he would be looked after with kindness and professionalism. He had a lovely room which
we were encouraged to personalise with pictures and plants, etc. Efforts were made to try to encourage him to eat the things he particularly liked, and his pain management was very good.

My sister was in hospital for over 4 months with complex care needs ,she was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and began to deteriorate rapidly. Then we found Wytham house the answer to our many searches and thanks to the deputy manager she was accepted in spite of her high level of need and
at times robust use of language.
The level of care is outstanding , every health professional involved with her treat her with kindness ,respect and humour and this extends to the other residents as well.
As all our family live some distance away we cannot visit very often , so it's very reassuring for us to know she is in safe hands.
She doesn't realise that she is in a beautiful and tranquil location ,so good for stressed visitors but she doesn't demand to go home anymore , I think she knows it's her forever home.
So thank you so much Wytham house.

My father recently moved into this nursing home, and I couldn't be happier with how smoothly he has settled in. From the very beginning, the staff have shown exceptional care and kindness, making him feel comfortable and at home. What has impressed me most is not only the attention they give to my
dad, but also the way they include us as his family. They always take the time to chat with us, keep us updated, and share thoughtful feedback about how he is doing and offer proactive suggestions about how to best manage his increasing care needs. Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. It's wonderful to hear how warmly your mum has been welcomed at Acacia Lodge and that the team have helped put your mind at ease during what can be an emotional transition. Knowing you feel reassured and confident in the care she's receiving means a great deal to everyone here. Your recommendation is sincerely appreciated.
