Stowford House

from Fiona S (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My Mum stayed at Stowford House for a respite break in July '25. She was kept safe and comfortable during her stay, which happened at a time of hot weather which must have been challenging for everyone in the home, and her time was enriched by the opportunity to go out on a trip with other residents.
The manager and deputy-manager were both very approachable, and worked quickly to resolve any questions I had as they arose. The staff were lovely, incredibly kind and caring, and It felt like they cared about Mum and her experience, even though she was only with there for a short time. Another strength was the activities programme, which offered lots of opportunities for people to get involved in wellbeing activities. I would have liked to see a bit more time and attention given to Mum's food and her skin care, where she has some challenging specific issues, but overall I felt this was a good respite break, would use again, and I was very touched by the kindness and atmosphere of the home

Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential Home

from Mark N (Son of Resident) published on 18 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother stayed at Oaken Holt for a 2 week respite stay whilst we were able to have some holidays.
The overall standard of care was excellent, the staff attentive and caring.
The food was plentiful, and all cooked onsite using fresh ingredients, with a choice of plates at all sittings, and, over
the 2 week stay, no meals were repeated.
My mother felt very comfortable, and was made to feel very included by the staff, as she does like to talk to people.
On checking out of the home, I was asked to complete a nomination form to select a member of staff that had stood out as going above and beyond the high standards. I was unable to single out any one member of staff, as they had all, in their own way, performed above any of our expectations, and it would be unfair to name one individual.
Highly rcommended, and my mother is looking forward to her next stay.

Mum had a wonderful two week respite stay at Oaken Holt and she loved every second! In the stunning surroundings and grounds at Oaken Holt she had a beautifully appointed room and the care, attention and dedication of the staff was absolutely first class. She was so well looked after with each and

Both my parents became residents at Stowford House at the beginning of June.
I can't speak highly enough of the team of staff working there.
It was a difficult transition period for both my parents and myself, the communication and reassurance from the home has helped immensely and my parents are
settling into their new stage of life.
It is great to have the weekly activities emailed to me, many of which my parents are participating in and enjoying. I enjoy reading the monthly newsletter updates too!
I feel their needs are being met as much as possible.
I am very grateful to all the staff involved.

After longing to go on holiday Stowford House made this possible for me to put my mum in to respite. From the moment I enquired everything was dealt with in a professional manner, and with ease.
Meeting my mum and I at home as an introduction to make my mother feel comfortable, even with the difficulty
of mum having dementia.
All the staff at Stowford House made Mum feel so welcome and looked after, she did have her bad days when my daughter visited, but she was contacted by the staff and reassured with texts and photos.
Couldn't recommend this care home enough, the staff are all super friendly and kind, and the home is to a high standard of cleanliness.
Thank you very much.

We are so pleased with the care our grandmother receives at Huntercombe. There is always a wide variety of activities and entertainment to keep her engaged! Everything from music sessions and crafts to quizzes and themed events. She is always telling us how much fun she is having, and it's clear the

We have as a family been so impressed since our mother entered Abbeycrest. She has become so much happier having people to mix with and the nutritious food has made a huge difference to her health. My mother became a resident in April 2025. She is settling in very well. The home is very peaceful and the setting and environment very good. Care has been excellent and the staff are all wonderful. I would not hesitate in recommending Abbeycrest Nursing Home to anyone looking for a Nursing Home for themselves or a loved one. The standard of care is second to none. The quality of care is outstanding and the facilities and food 5 Star. But most importantly every member of staff, no matter in
what capacity, is a professional and they truly care for their residents and about the experience they receive.
The staff are respectful, compassionate and understanding. These qualities were shown not only towards my Mother but towards our family too.
