My mum has been here just over a week and has been welcomed into the home with open arms.
The management and all staff cannot do enough for my mum and also reassured me that she will be fine as you can imagine I was very upset that mum was having to go into a residential home .
Acacia Lodge is such
a happy and friendly place and I would highly recommend to anyone who is in the same situation that I was in .
I feel so much better now knowing mum is being looked after 24/7 in such a beautiful home and by amazing management and staff . I am so pleased I chose this home for mum I cannot thank them enough the way they are looking after my mum.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. I cannot speak highly enough again for the staff at Stowford; looking after my mother in another difficult situation and resolving the problems that she was facing. The thought and care shown by everyone involved is very reassuring to our family.
They constantly show how they listen and meet my parents
individual needs, which have been numerous and various since they moved into the Home in June.
I also really appreciate how after just a few months, every visit I am welcomed by the staff and I feel part of the Stowford family. Each member of staff I speak to has a good understanding of my parents and I do like to hear all their updates.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Stowford HouseThank you for taking the time to write such a considered review. It's clear how much you value the way the team at Stowford House respond to your parents' changing needs, and we're glad their thoughtful approach has offered real reassurance during some challenging moments. Hearing that you now feel part of the Stowford House community, and that staff know your parents well enough to share meaningful updates, is especially appreciated. Your feedback will mean a great deal to the whole team.

My Dad has been at Stowford for six months now. I chose Stowford because Shamek the deputy manager actually took the time to visit my Dad and assess his needs - he was in hospital in Marlborough. Other care home made a phone call.
The care has been very good and personal to my Dad's needs.
I also
like the fact that upstairs is for people with milder dementia and downstairs is for residents with more advanced care needs.
I highly recommend Shamek and the home.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Stowford HouseThank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback. I am very impressed with the care, dignity and warmth my mother has received over the last year. She has settled in so well and loves the position of her room in the corner as she has plenty to see from her window.
She often talks about the excellent care she receives from the staff, and we have also
observed this. The home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, and recently there has been an upgrade of the lounges, kitchens and some rooms with a lot of thought gone into displaying a homely feel. We know Mother is well cared for here. A great choice!! Thank you.

My father was a resident at Huntercombe for two years up until his passing. The kindness, care and attention he received was exemplary. With such a wonderful building, decor and surroundings it provides a lovely atmosphere. The family enjoyed visiting and and seeing him well cared for. It's very humbling

From our initial meeting at Oaken Holt, we as a family are so happy our uncle, who was struggling at home, needing more care, moved there.
Nothing was or is too much trouble. In less than a year my uncle has become less frail, less anxious, put on weight and loves the food, activities and the staff.
Oaken Holt is so open to visitors with Adrian on the desk being a face so welcoming. But beyond that. All staff are so lovely and accommodating to family members also. I am kept up to date with weekly emails. Also invited to events held there! It's a family. In short my uncle is well, checked by nursing staff, doctors and so many more services offered. But more importantly he is thriving! He's happy, laughs, tells me stories of his days as they've been so great with entertainment being laid on all the time. It's a respectful, clean and homely home for those lucky enough to live there.

My father in law moved in to Tall Trees in September and we have been blown away by the experience that we have all had there so far. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff and there is constant care and attention on offer. We are lucky enough to be able to visit almost daily and feel welcome
and comfortable when we do so. There is a private lounge area if you come with a bigger group and we have even enjoyed the private dining room for a Sunday lunch together with all of our family. What is really striking though is the commitment to the individual and an understanding that every resident has a unique character and different needs - this is extremely well catered for. The management and administration team are responsive and helpful, especially at first when everything is new and confusing. When we were first considering Tall Trees I sent an email enquiry at 6pm one evening and received a callback that same evening, which surprised me. All in all its been a brilliant start.

This was dad's third stay for respite care at Oaken Holt. He has previously had respite care in a different county, and so is familiar with being in a care home.
He said that he settled immediately into Oaken Holt, and felt very at home there. He described all the staff as very lovely. He enjoyed
all the meals he had there, and enjoyed taking part in the different activities on offer.
I did not have to worry about dad at all whilst he was there as I knew he was being very well cared for.
A big thank you to all the staff there.

Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Husband moved into Oaken Holt on 02 August 2025 - having been treated in hospital for 12 days, following a massive seizure, which sadly has left him with immobility, incontinence and progression of his illness, Glioblastoma Brain Cancer Stage 4.
The last 2 months have been a difficult time for us
all to adjust to him being in a nursing home - but what a lovely place to be, he enjoys the care staff interacting with him, they are so kind, they understand his sense of humour.
The food is great - it seems the residents are continually eating, Breakfast, mid morning snack, 3 course lunch, afternoon tea and cake, 3 course supper and a late night snack if required.
They even feed me when I am visiting over one of these periods of time.
Our little dog Rae is a daily visitor with me and they all love her too.
Just one 'downside' for us is they do not have a 'Bath' - my husband loved a bath at home, he is showered and washed with great care, but he often says 'Can I have a bath at home soon'
Reply from Nicole Howarth, on behalf of the team at Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review! We appreciate how challenging the past few months have been for you and your family, and we're grateful that you feel your husband is receiving such great care at Oaken Holt. It's lovely to hear that he enjoys the interactions with our team and that both you and Rae feel so welcome during your visits. Regarding the bath, we completely understand how much this means to your husband. While Oaken Holt doesn't have an assisted bath on-site, we're pleased to share that Wytham House, part of the Oaken Holt Estate, does have this facility. We've arranged for our care team to accompany him there, so he can enjoy a relaxing bath. Your wonderful comments have been passed on to the team, who will be delighted to hear your feedback.

As a family, we carefully reviewed the three care homes in Henley. One proved too expensive, and the other two, Acacia Lodge, was a clear winner. The management and staff were well established and projected a warm and very caring ambience. My wife has enjoyed well appointed bedroom, and a sound array
of facilities together with an admirably varied and tasty choice of food (far better than I was able to provide at home!).

I am very impresses with the care and compation that they give to client and family.
They truely helped me through a very traumatic time having to put my husband in care as i could no longer health issues and body strength cope and do things for him.
After 50 years of marriage this was and still
is hard mentaly.
One of the best things is i can go any time of day, as i only live 15 minutes walk away this is a godsend.

Kindness is the greatest gift that anyone can have. I moved into Acacia Lodge a week ago today, and the kindness I have received and am still receiving is heartwarming and quite wonderful. I'm in my nineties and have happily lived independently for over 50 years. I have crippling arthritis. Last Monday
I fell on my back - the worst pain. Time to go into a care home. Acacia Lodge said that I could move in. I love my new forever home - the best ever.

My Mother in law was with you for dementia care, she was happy there, the staff were all very kind and very fond of her, we visited on a regular basis she was always dressed smartly and looked well cared for.
she enjoyed her coffee and cakes and ate her meals well, sometimes she had two breakfasts.
she
had a good relationship with the nurses and carers and other staff, she had a good sense of humor and staff interacted well with her.
she loved to sit and look out into the gardens and walk around inside the house to get her exercise.
she liked to sit near the reception area as she enjoyed being with people.
The staff were very patient with her and calmed her when she became agitated.
We found Huntercombe to be a very homely care home and a wonderful building.
It was always good to see the residence and staff when they joined in and dressed up for events, she enjoyed the music and activities.
As a family we were cared with her when she was passing.
