My partner initially went for a respite week in March but eventually stayed for 9 weeks following assessment for permanent care.
During his stay he was cared for really well. All the staff were lovely and looked after him just as I'd hoped, not just his physical needs but providing lots of activities.
My partner really enjoyed mealtimes and the meals I saw were varied and appetising. We were welcome to visit as we wished, encouraged to join in with activities when appropriate and treated with kindness by the friendly staff.
Our experience was very positive and I'd be happy to return to Willowbeck if we needed to.

Since my mum left her family home, she has she has been treated with a lack of respect from a number of care homes, and hospitals, which I will not discuss on this form:- Dearnevale Grimethorpe, my mum's last home is 100% and cares for my mum's needs. She is cared for and loved by all workers, and
mum is settled, beautifully, and has made lovely friends; nothing is too much to ask for. My mums family are very welcome.

My husband has been at Longley Park View since December 2019. He has Alzheimer's disease so communication is difficult but I am confident he is content. Any health care issues are addressed promptly, always in consultation with the family. He is encouraged to take part in appropriate activities. The
staff are caring and well trained. As a family we feel fortunate that he has such good care.

Visit quite often to see my father-in-law on any basis and can categorically say we are truly overwhelmed with the care that's provided. The staff are second to none and deserve a commendation for their skills and politeness towards him and his family. The home is very clean and all times and pleasant
odour too. A huge thank you to be given to each individual working at Dearnevale.

My husband has been in Dearnevale for 7 + years and from the moment he came he has thrived. He settled so well and slept in a bed for the first time in 3 years. So relaxed, this is down to the hard work, dedication and love from the staff. They treat everyone with dignity, love and respect its, not
a care home its a home full of family. They know my husband inside and out. I am so thankful for the love and care they show him and myself. He has been poorly lately and they have gone above and beyond. Excellent doesn't due them justice. They are "Angels"

The staff at Neville Court have always been wonderful with my father. He's always been treated with kindness and dignity and so have we as a family, which has felt very different to the home he was in previously. I feel that his needs are met at Neville Court and nothing is too much. The staff recognise
that he has a significant brain injury and how it impacts him. I really value how they care for him. Dad really enjoys the food at Neville Court. This room is exceptionally clean and most importantly, he's happy.

Extremely pleased with the care my husband receives at Willowbeck. Friends and visitors are welcomed and encouraged to take part in events provided by the activity programme staff. The food has been good although recently my husband complains that it was very 'samey'. I personally find the staff very
supportive and informative. The activities provided have been stimulating and entertaining with regular trips out. The environment is perhaps clinical but clean and practical.

Willowbeck

from Kate W (Mother of Resident) published on 31 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

Since my son has moved units, he had deteriorated rapidly from June 2024 to present December 2024.
He suffered a fractured femur and was left for over 8 hours until a care staff raised a concern at which point he was admitted to hospital. The consultant stated she had not seen a complicated fracture
as bad, so before surgery my son had to be put on traction to straighten his leg. Following a long stay in hospital and a diagnosis of cancer, and given assurances that my son would receive the care he needed, we allowed him to go back to Willowbeck.
From then and up to now my son has rapidly deteriorated, his hygiene needs are not met. He is not eating and the food offered level 6 resembles slop. We wouldn't give it to my dog. The staff not aware very recently until I expressed concerns that he had a chest infection. Staff not engaging with him but sat 10 feet away on mobile phones. Staff turnover is bad.

Reply from Jo Hemmingway, Marketing and Communications Officer at Willowbeck

Since my partner moved to the Cannon Ward, his life has opened up again.
Over the August Bank Holiday they took him to Blackpool for the weekend and he had the time of his life!
I can't thank them enough for all the care and support they have given both me and my partner.
They keep me informed regarding
possible changes to his medication and his care in general. It's a pleasure to go and see him again, now he always has a smile on his face.

My brother has been in Neville Court care home for about 13 weeks. In my opinion, he is getting the support he requires. All the staff go above and beyond. His mental and physical health has improved, he has also gained weight. Also, not only this, my own mental health as a relative has improved massively
due to the fact that I know my brother is being cared for.
