Amber Wood

Mum has been at Amberwood since March.
She went in completely bed ridden not being able to walk since early November.
The following day I walked in to see that Mum wasn't in bed so I went looking for her. Well I broke into tears of happiness as mum sat in an arm chair in the lounge.
Still not
able to walk and has her wheelchair She has adjusted well. She now joins in with activities. No longer alone in her bedroom anymore.
The Staff are lovely.
If we have any concerns we just go to see Stacie the Manager or Paula the Deputy.
They have arranged various appointments and working out a care plan that suits mums needs.
Amberwood has given myself a chance to become a daughter again and enjoy my visits always taking a cake to share with her and a cup of tea and Chat.
Thank you.
Reply from Lacey Patterson, Registered Manager at Amber WoodThank you for your kind words. We love having mum, the dogs, and the wider family here each day. Will share this lovely feedback with the team.

Hamble Heights Care Home

My Nan recently moved into Hamble Heights and the experience has been wonderful from the very beginning. From our first contact with Rachel and Alice, through to Nan settling in, everyone has been warm, kind and incredibly supportive. Any questions we have had have been answered quickly and openly,
making the whole process feel reassuring and well managed.
A special mention goes to Meenu, who always greets residents and families with a smile and treats everyone with genuine dignity, kindness and respect. Yvonne, the Activities Coordinator, brings such positivity and joy to the home and is clearly passionate about enriching residents' lives.
Moving a loved one into care is never an easy decision, but the team at Hamble Heights have given our family real peace of mind. We are so grateful for the care, compassion and support they have shown Nan and our family.

Visited my brother's wife, and her home is beautiful. Everyone's so friendly, they made me tea and gave me biscuits, and even ice cream because it was super hot. They had a singer during lunch, great vibe and atmosphere. I even stayed longer than I planned, it just felt nice there. Well done Hamble,
I'll be visiting more often .

My husband came in here for 2 weeks respite care. He was very well looked after and all the staff were very friendly to him. He was very happy there. All his needs were seen to and I was kept up to date with any changes. I really can't fault anything about the care home. The manager was very attentive
and very supportive.

My mother in law came to Vale View Heights for palliative nursing care on a two week respite period, but after only four days decided that it was perfect for her and is now a permanent resident. The nurses, carers and all the staff are so friendly, compassionate and welcoming. The management of the
home is excellent and we now have peace of mind that my mother in law's health issues will be addressed quickly and she will be given 24 hour care. The home is set in peaceful surroundings, giving a calm and relaxing atmosphere. It's clean and bright and residents are able to bring their own furniture and personal belongings into their room to give a homely and comforting feel. We are very happy that she has settled in so well and so quickly.

From the front door all the way through the home is caring and smiling people. A smile helps when you are having a hard time with your loved one. I have seen great respect for my mother ,my father and myself from all staff. People who stop their work to check if carers are ok and others help my mum
to settle in. Clean and tidy rooms and clothes cleaning very good and kind people who work there. Offered advice about name labels and gave me a leaflet when we looked around ,extremely helpful.

My father moved into the home to convalesce following a hip replacement. This was an urgent request as my father was not receiving good care in another care home. The care home staff were so responsive, helpful and caring and within 24 hours my father was welcomed into the home. Whilst the surroundings
were a little more basic , it was very clean and comfortable. The staff were absolutely amazing, professional , and considerate. Dad never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for his bell to be answered. Care was taken to ensure Dad had all the equipment he needed including a pressure relieving mattress. Staff were fully on board with Dads rehabilitation programme and were proactive with encouraging him to do his physio and go for assisted walks. The food was lovely and the care staff listened to any requests and made sure Dad had access to ice for his drinks. Family were made so welcome and we were always offered refreshments. Highly recommend this care home.

Churchill House is very good. My husband is cared for very well, he's been in there for 2 years now. All of the staff are very friendly, and check on my husband often, encouraging him to drink more, and bring or change food if he'd like something different. There's a happy atmosphere in there and the
staff seem to get on very well together. I always recommend it to other people.

I have complex need that need a lot of specialise care and support . The home have provided me with excellent 1 to 1 support workers 24 hours a day. I have spent lots of hours having therapy from the resident dog Jarvis. I have nurse attending every seizure which can be up to 30 a day. There is excellent
entertainment and we recently had a visit from farm animal on wheels.
Without this home I would be lost and alone.

Hamble Heights Care Home

from Margaret B (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 June 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Prior to our father's admission to Hamble Heights, the manager visited him in hospital to meet him and also to speak to the nursing staff on the ward to assess his medical needs.
My sister and myself also visited Hamble Heights. We were shown the bedroom ensuite that our father would be staying in.
The residents' lounge, dining area and kitchen for that floor. It was explained that there was 24 hour access to visit, and when visiting, we could make ourselves a hot drink anytime.
Our father's stay at Hamble Heights was from September to December 2025. He very much liked the room that he was staying in. It had a large window and he could easily see outside. He was bedbound and receiving end-of-life care. He had a ripple mattress and was turned approximately every 2 hours, and in between these times, he was checked by a member of the care staff. His medical and care needs were very well taken care of by the nursing and care staff and visiting members of the local GP practice.
The cleaning staff came into his room every day and everywhere was kept very clean and tidy. The laundry staff delivered his laundered items back to his room. There were food choices on the menu that covered the needs of all the residents. It was good to see the manager walking about and doing regular checks, and maintenance was always readily available if required.
My sister and myself were always made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was of a bright, friendly, happy and caring home.
We thoroughly recommend.

Although my Mum has only been a resident at Oakdale for a few weeks, we are astounded by the improvements in her wellbeing. She is so happy here and this gives us such peace of mind. Everything about this home is first class and we have found ALL staff so very caring to both Mum and ourselves as a family.
This really makes all the difference. What I have seen is that residents are treated as individuals and also treated with dignity and respect. Oakdale is like a 5* hotel. THANKYOU for making Mum shine again!!!
Reply from Lesley Brock, General Manager at Oakdale Care HomeThank you so very much for taking the time to share such beautiful feedback regarding your mother's stay with us at Oakdale. Reading your kind words has brought an immense amount of joy to our entire team.
Moving a loved one into care can be a time of great transition, so hearing that your mum is so happy and that you have peace of mind means the world to us. Our core mission is to ensure every resident is treated as an individual, with the utmost dignity and respect, so it is incredibly rewarding to know this shines through in our daily care.
I will be absolutely delighted to pass your wonderful comments along to ALL the staff here. Knowing they have made such a positive difference and helped your mum "shine again" is the highest praise they could possibly receive.
Thank you again for your kind words and for being such a wonderful part of our Oakdale family.

Somerleigh Court Nursing Home

My Uncle was a resident for almost 2 years and he passed away in the home in March 2026, having been put in End of Life care by his GP. The last few days of my Uncle's life were traumatic because there was a delay in the home collecting the prescription from the pharmacy causing unnecessary suffering.
As
we live locally and visited very regularly, we were able to see at first hand the decline in standards and lack of staff since Welford Healthcare took over.
Management failed to act on several requests to move the TV in our Uncle's room to a place where he could see it, especially as he was totally deaf. No restrictions were put on another resident who was sometimes aggressive from entering out Uncle's room whenever she wanted.
We received no condolences until we mentioned the fact to a member of staff.
The final bill included 7 days notice that contradicts advice given by the Competitions and Markets Authority, and we had that changed.
