  • Care Homes Owned by Orchard Care Homes
Since 1984, Orchard Care Homes have provided award-winning purpose-built care accommodation, allowing older people to enjoy the very best. Those who felt isolated in their own home gain companionship; those who were struggling to cope alone receive 24-hour help and support; and others who may have felt like they were a burden can find themselves much more independent.

The group look to go beyond the ‘National Standards for Care Homes for Older People’ caring about every detail of residents’ lives including health, diet, exercise, hobbies and social activities. Their aim is to ensure that all residents continue enjoying life, receiving the very highest standard of care. The company has recently achieved the prestigious Investors in People Award in recognition of excellent staff training.

Orchard can help you choose a care home for yourself or a relative, and they also provide important information for those looking to work in care. They are delighted to accept both local authority and private funded residents.

If you are looking for a care home in Northern England why not visit one of their care homes yourself and see what they offer? Please call them to arrange a time that’s convenient for you.

Castleford Lodge Nursing Home

from Chelsea L (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 26 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
As a family we are grateful that nana got a placement as she was EOL and needed caring for, but there were issues that should not be overlooked. The night before nana passed she was in pain and discomfort. We asked for help from 3 staff members, and was given different information each time, after having
to chase for updates. Nobody seemed to know what to do. I was told false information, that nana would need a doctor to come out and this would be looked at the next day. I knew that an OOH nurse could be called and I had to do this myself as a senior staff member said they had tried 4 times and received no answer, which has never been the case when calling the OOH service. Staff appeared reluctant to make initial contact, and offered no reassurance, which is not fair for a lady in pain nearing the end of her life. Also when nana needed to use toilet facilities, a commode was wheeled in, which did not sit right with us, and regardless of cleaning does not appear hygienic or dignified.

In general, my husband seems happy and cared for in a friendly and caring environment. Staff try their best to involve him with the various activities within the home, but this can be difficult as my husband can present with challenging behaviour. I find generally the staff are caring and compassionate
and usually show a warm empathy to my husband, which makes me feel happy that he is in a safe and happy atmosphere.

My dad has been in the care home since December 2024 and all I can say is every part of the team that works in the care home treat the resident as family taking time to look after them and ask what their needs are from day to day and what food they like they also make life fun and have lots of laughter
they also help with family coming to visit helping sorting out things for the better for the residents I want to say thank you to everyone

My Father went in for respite care. The home was always welcoming. The staff do an amazing job and nothing is too much trouble. My Father has commented on how good the food is. Whilst visiting I've noticed many positive aspects to the home including the cruise entertainment, mad hatters tea party and
the nursing home dog. My Father likes the outdoors and had the weather been better the staff would have put him in the beautiful gardens.
Next time I would send both parents in for respite.

My dad spent the last 15 months of his life here, staff couldn't of been kinder, dad was a character, full of life and constantly on the go, putting him into care was the hardest decision I have ever made, one member of staff helped me with this and gradually I realised that him being in care wasn't
so bad after all. Dad was safe, well fed and entertained, he settled in very quickly telling us all that it was a "lovely hotel". Alzheimer's is cruel and staff here do there upmost to keep the residents dignity and individuality a priority.
From the bottom of my heart would like to thank you all, said I would call past one day tried and it upsets me too much, maybe in few months time) keep up the good work x

Cherry Trees Care Home

As a family it was the most important decision we ever had to make, deciding on where our precious, wonderful, loving father would reside and call his home in the latter years of his life. Getting him in to Cherrytree's was without a doubt the best decision we ever made. The management and staff not
only made our Dads stay with them a wonderful experience, they also welcomed us, his family, with open arms. Dad was treated with upmost respect, he was always so well presented, clean, stimulated and happy. The management and staff could not have been more helpful, dealing with all situations professionally and swiftly.
Dad's last days in Cherrytree's will always be a time that we will be forever grateful to everyone there in Cherrytree's for. Everyone went above and beyond their roles, allowing us to share Dads final week of life feeling totally supported and loved. An experience i will always treasure and be thankful to Sharon and all the staff for. Keep up the great work.

I find this home extremely well managed, staff are very good, I have visited at different times of the day over a 7 day period due to my work, I have never ever experienced any negatives from this home or its staff. From a medical point of view they are always spot on and take the correct action to
gain medical advice and attention for my mum. I find the negativity quite odd and sad really. I can only say I really like this home and all the staff, I feel my mum is very well cared for and kept fully up to date, I will certainly be keeping my mum in this care home. Keep up the excellent work to an amazing team and manager.

Three Bridges Nursing Home

My mum has lived at Three Bridges for nearly 18 months. As I live a 2-hour drive away and can't visit every week, it's particularly important for me to feel confident that mum is well-cared for and treated with respect. Her personal care needs seem always to be delivered with sensitivity. The staff
are kind and thoughtful and appear genuinely to enjoy interacting with the residents.
Mum's room and the communal areas, including the dining room, are clean, bright, and nicely decorated, and she is happy living here.
Reply from Whitney Sampson, Home Manager at Three Bridges Nursing Home

We are truly honoured to care for your mum here at Three Bridges and it means a great deal to us that you feel confident in the support and respect she receives. Our team is deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and your recognition of their kindness and attentiveness is incredibly encouraging. I will ensure this is passed on to the team.
