When my father arrived at Barton he was immediately assessed and placed into a private room with ensuite. His care throughout has been exemplary, the care staff and nurses are very caring and kind with plenty of time to talk. The cleanliness and hygiene standards are second to none (brilliant) and the
food very good. Thank you to all of team for the care and compassion shown to my father.

Rotherlea

from Nicola W (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Having had an awful experience at a previous care home, we transferred my Mum to Rotherlea and the positive impact was immediate. She improved physically and mentally due to the supportive, caring attitude of the staff at Rotherlea. They regularly keep in touch and go over and above to support my
Mum. They have celebrated her 'wins' by phoning me and, despite her declining health, she is treated with respect and kindness at all times. The staff at Rotherlea see their job as a vocation and nothing is too much trouble.

Reply from Daniel Rees, Home Manager at Rotherlea

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We are truly heartened to hear about the positive difference Rotherlea has made for your mum. It means a great deal to our team to know that her physical and mental wellbeing have improved since coming to us.Our staff are deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and it's lovely to hear that their efforts have been felt so strongly. We're especially pleased that you feel kept informed and supported - family involvement is incredibly important to us.We will be sure to pass on your comments to the whole team, who will be touched to know their work is so appreciated.

Sycamore Lodge

from Christine G (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Dad entered sycamore in Dec 22. His health had declined since his diagnosis of dementia. Initially he was admitted for 6 wks rehab but due to complications his recovery to walk was not to be. He fairly quickly settled in to his new surroundings. We as a family on the other hand found it hard to accept
that our once active, music loving outdoors dad would end his days in a nursing home. We visited dad most days, taking his wife of 69 years twice a week.
Gradually we got to know the staff as a 2nd family & through us showing them photos and videos of dad in his younger days they got to know the man.
The highlight of his week was the "music man" & fish & chips. We remember the day we walked into the day room.Dad was sat with residents and staff and was laughing. It made our hearts feel good that he now considered it home.
We would like to praise the staff at sycamore in their challenging daily roles & we take comfort knowing that dads final days were in comfortable caring surroundings

Reply from Barry ODriscoll, Home Manager at Sycamore Lodge

Thank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt and moving reflection on your father's time at Sycamore. We are truly honoured to have had the opportunity to care for him and to get to know him - not just as a resident, but as the vibrant, music-loving man you so lovingly introduced us to through your stories, photos, and videos. It warms our hearts to know that he found comfort, companionship, and joy here - particularly in moments like the music sessions and enjoying his fish and chips. We are especially touched by your memory of him laughing with fellow residents and staff, feeling at home in the day room. These are the moments that mean the most to us.

Our mother has been a resident for 10 months now. On admission she was very confused, resisting any help from everyone including her children but within a very short space of time and with the care and attention shown by each and every member of staff, she has adapted very well and now joins in with
a lot of things. The team are fantastic, whether they are care staff, laundry staff, kitchen staff or admin, everyone goes out of their way to make the residents feel cared for and their families and friends feel welcome.

Reply from Holly Callis, Home Manager at Abbott House

Since my mother gained her residential placement in Glebe House I've visited her three times, I also telephone her everyday. I've always found my mother to be happy and content. I've also found all the staff to be warm, considerate, kind and helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, everybody is
very friendly and the prevailing atmosphere in Glebe House I feel is very family orientated and I would happily recommend it to everybody looking for a placement.

I had to leave mum at Elizabeth House while I had a hip replacement and couldn't drive. It is light and airy, and the staff are really helpful and caring. When her 6 weeks were up, she didn't want to go home. She enjoys having company and making friends. She's a bit forgetful now, and for us, it is
such a relief to know she is safe. It really is a lovely place to live.

Thorndale

from Sandra W (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum had lived alone following my Dads passing away in March 2018. In August last year she had a couple of falls at home and a hospital and rehabilitation stay followed. Mum no longer felt safe staying at home alone. Mum went into Thorndale on October 7th initially for 2 weeks respite care whilst I was
on holiday. After my return from holiday Mum was due to go home with a care package. We were lucky enough to be told just before my return that Mum qualified for 24 hour care and was able if she wanted to stay at Thorndale. Mum said yes without hesitation. She has made some good friends with fellow residents, joins in with the activities, and loves having her hair done weekly in the on site salon. We are made to feel very welcome when we go into visit Mum, we're invited to join in with the activities and if tea and coffee are made we are offered 1 too. Thank you Thorndale for looking after Mum so well.

Reply from Heidi Brown, Home Manager at Thorndale

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled in so well at Thorndale and is enjoying both the company of fellow residents and the activities on offer, especially her regular visits to the salon! It's wonderful to know that you and your family feel welcomed during your visits and that the care and support we provide give you peace of mind. We are honoured to have your mum with us and will continue to ensure she feels comfortable, safe, and valued.Thank you again for your kind words, and we look forward to continuing to care for your mum.

I consider my father very fortunate to be a resident at Rotherlea. He is elderly, frail and a little muddled, but has found happiness and a sense of safety since he arrived.
I consider all the members of the care team to be exemplary in their consideration and kindness when interacting with my father.
Also, I am always informed if there has been an incident that I should know about, such as a little accident.
I feel reassured that my father could not be in a better place.
