My mother transitioned into this facility today.
From my engagement with the Care Home Manager to this transition experience i have seen nothing but caring and professionalism.
They visited my mother at home and then partnered with myself and my mothers in home carers to help create a strong transition
plan that enabled a dementia sufferer to move in dignity while being very cognisant of the emotional impact.
This i am confident is an establishment that cares for its residents and staff alike to make this feel like home.
Reply from Cameron, St Olaf Care Home at St Olaf Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to hear that your mother's transition into St Olaf felt caring, professional and dignified. Moving into care can be an emotional time, particularly for someone living with dementia, so it means a great deal to know the planning and support helped make this experience as comfortable as possible. We will share your feedback with the team, who will be delighted.

What has stood out most is how quickly the team got to know Dad as a person, understanding his individual needs and personality in a very short time.
This has given us great reassurance and confidence in the care being provided. Communication has been excellent - regular, clear and always delivered
at the right level for our family. Staff are approachable, compassionate and willing to discuss any concerns or updates promptly. It is never easy placing a loved one into care, but the support and professionalism shown by everyone at the home has made a very difficult time much easier for us all. We would definitely recommend this home to others looking for caring and professional support for a loved one.
Reply from Cameron, Auchtercrag Care Home at Auchtercrag Care Home / Auchmacoy LodgeThank you for such a thoughtful review. We are so pleased to hear that your dad has been supported as an individual and that our communication has given your family reassurance during such an important transition. We understand how difficult this decision can be, so your kind words about the team's compassion, professionalism and support mean a great deal to everyone at the home.

Caroline was extremely helpful and covered all aspects of Christine's care. She put us totally at ease and asked if we had any concerns - which we do not. She was very helpful, checking staff available on shift when we will be visiting for Christine's 90th birthday. We, as a family, are delighted with
the care Christine receives and are very grateful to all carers, nurses, kitchen staff, entertainment. Just 'thank you' all.

My husband Gordon says the overall experience was very positive. The staff and carers were pleasant, friendly, encouraging, and helpful. The activities were enthusiastically promoted and fun. Enjoyable being taken into the garden in his wheelchair. Mealtimes were varied because of his puried diet and
the conduct of various patients distrubing. Overall he enjoyed his time in Mearns House.
Reply from Kirsty Craig, Home Manager at Mearns HouseThank you for taking the time to share Gordon's feedback. We are delighted to hear that he had a positive experience at Mearns House and enjoyed the support of our friendly and encouraging team, as well as the activities and time spent in the garden. We also appreciate your comments regarding mealtimes and the dining environment. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue to improve the experience for all residents. It was a pleasure to care for Gordon, and we wish you both all the very best.

My mum moved into St Modans care home in December 2022 after having had a lengthy 9 month stay in hospital. Moving a parent into full time care from a once independent life, was a very emotional decision. But the staff here made that transition seamless and gave our family complete peace of mind.
The
nursing/care staff are exceptionally skilled, highly professional, and deeply compassionate. From the person my mum was on her initial admission (very withdrawn, lacked confidence due to the changes that had occurred to her health in hospital, both physically and mentally). To the person she is now today, is a testament and reflection of the high level of ongoing care and support she receives from all of the staff. She is once again living a very full filled life here at St Modans. Knowing my mum is safe, comfortable and recieving the best care, is an absolute blessing. All in all I would highly recommend St Modans to anyone.
Reply from Pamela Geddes, Manager at St Modans Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We moved into residential care two months ago, following some health issues. One of us had already been here for respite care. When we visited, we were impressed by the welcome and the facilities, and that we were remembered. It is set on a hill with extensive views of Arran and the Clyde Coast, built
in an L-shape on two floors, a dozen bedrooms on each wing. At the end of each corridor there is a small lounge offering splendid views, and in the middle is a larger lounge leading to a private garden or terrace. The dining rooms and cafés are in the longer arm opening onto the garden or another terrace. The corridors have natural light, softening the institutional appearance. The rooms are well-proportioned and tastefully decorated. What makes it special is the staff, working as a team. Each resident is frail to some degree, and I am amazed at the care taken to accommodate and manage this. They work hard to create a real feeling of community. Greenan Manor is outstanding.
Reply from Cameron, Greenan Manor Care Home at Greenan ManorThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and generous review. We're delighted to hear that your move into Greenan Manor has felt welcoming and reassuring, especially having already experienced the home through respite care. Your description of the home, its views, spaces and atmosphere is lovely to read, but we're especially grateful for your kind words about our team. Creating a genuine sense of community, while supporting each resident with care, dignity and understanding, is incredibly important to us. We are so relieved to have got dad into Daviot after a year spent between 2 hospitals where his condition was rapidly deteriorating, more so than the dementia. The staff at Daviot have been superb, and this has lifted some of the weight from mum. We know there are difficult times ahead, but we now feel
supported in a way we did not by the hospital staff and confident that Dad is being given the care and dignity he deserves.
