Fulford Care and Nursing Home

from R M (Friend of Resident) published on 30 September 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
The initial visit and assessment of my friend's needs and abilities was carried out respectfully and in a friendly fashion.
My friend makes a mess sometimes in the ensuite toilet and in his room, where he chooses to take his meals. This mess is sometimes not cleaned up by care staff immediately and
is left to the cleaning team, who may not be able to do it for several hours. I think this is a health and safety issue and it is every staff member's duty of care to just clean up any mess.
Despite this, the caring staff are, on the whole, caring, friendly and responsive.
There is usually a staff member on reception during the week to let visitors in and out. It is very frustrating, however at weekends when one has to wait some time for a carer to let you in or out. There must be a better system for visitors to go in and out safely at weekends without having to search for a member of care staff.

Gorseway Park Retirement Village

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
For 5 weeks I stayed at Gorseway Park as a transition from hospital to moving back home. I needed to gain strength and some changes needed to be made at home. Gorseway provided the ideal setting. The staff were professional, positive, patient, happy, encouraging, treated me as an individual and went
the extra mile. My room opened onto the garden which enabled me to watch wildlife and walk outside. Activities were available. Meals were tailored to my neds.

Rochester Care Home

My mum has been in this care home for about 5 months. She has always praised the staff for how hard they work and how clean it is. Mum has now settled in well. She did struggle at first, wanting to go home, but with everyone's patience and care, she is far happier now. It appears everyone is kind and
thoughtful to her, but mum has a particular connection with the manager who made her laugh, pulls her leg in humour, and makes her feel special and loved. We are very happy with her care.
Reply from Irene Kinslow, Manager at Rochester Care Home

Thank you for this lovely compliment , I will pass this on to the team. Your Mum is such a character and a pleasure to have. It was a difficult transition for her as you said however to see her know settled and happy and witty is lovely.

After leaving the hospital, my mother required full-time care. There was space at the Nightingale Care and Nursing Home, and whilst it is not the closest to where I live, it was certainly a very good decision. The staff are excellent, super friendly and helpful. Her room is very good, spacious, with
an ensuite and all newly decorated. She is able to have her personal belongings - pictures on the walls, which makes it very homely. My mum always looks smart and clean. The care is very good. Would highly recommend.

Staff were very supportive and respite care was excellent. Rooms had a lovely view, garden was nice. Food was apparently (according to resident) a bit more basic than he would like. My dad made rapid progress during his respite stay and was able to go home in much better shape. Nurses did a great job.

He appears to be enjoying the time at Waterside and appears in their social media posts, undertaking various activities with vigour. I engage with other residents
as they are keen to say 'Hello@. P.S. I cannot comment on the 'Value for Money' option. I have no idea of the costs.
