Swan House Care Home

from T G (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 2 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Moving a family member in to a Care Home is a worrying time - what if we choose the wrong place? In the 2 years she's been a resident, that question has never crossed our minds, and it's a even better Home since Lee became the manager, with an excellent locally based senior team. It's a clean and friendly
place with very attentive staff, always popping their head in to offer a cup of tea or a few minutes chat. It's well run and the team seem to enjoy working there, with very few changes over the years or agency staff, which is reassuring for the residents. There is always a wide range of planned activities, encouraging even my M in Law to join in! There is a lovely garden area and plenty of communal space. I've been told she loves being there, loves the team and especially the 'boss man'! I would highly recommend Swan Home - professionally run by people who really care about the residents.

I am very happy with the care that my mum has received. The physical environment, lounge, dining area and room are very pleasing. It has a warm feel about the place. My mum loves sitting in the lovely garden when sunny. The activity staff are amazing as well as the nurses who all try to encourage my
mum to take part.

My mother has just passed away at Paternoster after over six years of living there. I can honestly say I have never ever regretted putting her there, she has had six years of being well looked after and loved. The carers and nurses are angels, the admin staff efficient and kind. I would recommend it
as a caring, fun, homely place to put your loved ones. Thank you Paternoster.
Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Paternoster HouseThank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words. We are deeply sorry for your loss and extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. It has been a privilege to care for your mother over the past six years, and we are truly grateful for the trust you placed in us. Your appreciation means the world to our carers, nurses, and administrative team, who are dedicated to providing a loving, respectful, and homely environment. The staff are very welcoming and extremely hard working. The care that they provided was outstanding. Although the room was basic it was regularly cleaned and tidied. The food was good and nourishing.
I was impressed with the communication between carers and relatives and the quick response to any

Edgehill Care Home

from Sue H (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
To say that Edgehill is Excellent is an understatement.
It is not only the day to day care, support, love and kindness shown by all towards the residents & their families but the regular activities & outings designed to keep residents engaged & active that make Edgehill such a wonderful place for all.
Staff
are always doing that extra to make special days so special.
The last 2yrs my parents have so enjoyed being there & we are always amazed by the way staff are not only there for residents during their work hours, but regularly attend voluntarily to help them celebrate a special day or assist with days out. For them its not just a job but a love of people.
Recently losing my father of 94 staff were truly wonderful. From the teary eyed staff honour guard as he left, to the extra love, care & attention shown to my mother in her anguish after 70 years together, nothing was too much for them when caring for a resident.
Sadly 5 STARS is all that we can give and they deserve so much more
Reply from Lisa Edwards, Manager at Edgehill Care HomeThank you so very much for such a wonderful review of our home. Fulford Care and Nursing Home

from R M (Friend of Resident) published on 14 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
I have 4-5 months experience of visiting my friend in the dementia unit of the care home. The reception staff were warm and friendly. Most of the care staff and seniors were kind and caring and most were patient . It is a large home (70 residents) and most staff work in all the units of the home and
have to understand the needs of a great many people. My experience was that occasionally there was a breakdown of communication between staff and with me as friend and attorney. The care plans were inaccurate and not updated as my friend deteriorated and I wasn't convinced that staff were reading and following them. My friend needed help to manage eating and this wasn't immediately recognised and spilled food wasn't cleared promptly. Efforts were made by management to address my concerns but in the end I was unhappy with the consistency of care. However, my friend became ill and end of life care was provided in a manner that was sensitive to his needs and to mine as his friend and advocate

My mum is now a resident at Chalgrove and has been for the last 6 weeks. Sadly after fracturing her hip twice and several hospital admissions mum's needs couldn't be managed at home any longer as she now needed 24 hour care. Mum has settled in really well and says she feels safe and happy at Chalgrove.
All the staff are friendly, supportive to mum's needs and for us as a family it gives us a piece of mind she is being well looked after.

My mother in law has settled in really well, it was very hard for her son to have to put her into a home, but is happy with where she is, everything is really positive, she is always clean + tidy, the food is really good, all staff have always been so nice to us offering us a chair + cup of tea. Her
