Review of Montpellier Manor from Donna S (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My beloved Mum recently passed away after living and been cared for at Montpellier for just short of 8 years. Mum was one of the original residents at the home when it opened. As soon as we visited both she and us, her family knew it was the place for her. When mum moved in she was in the early stages of Alzheimer's dementia. From day one Mum was treated with respect and dignity and her personal wishes to engage in activities or have quiet time in her room were adhered to. Mum made friends with with other residents and staff and was content in her "home from home"

Over the years staff have come and gone but I have always found that the care and assistance given to their residents has always been first class. As Mum's dementia progressed and her needs became greater, these were met by moving to the third floor. At every stage I felt consulted and informed. Mum's final years were content and safe and I cannot thank all at Montpellier enough. A first class care home for, your loved ones

We were very pleased with the care received by my parents at such short notice. Mum and Dad stayed here for 2 weeks while we were on holiday. All the staff were lovely, kind and caring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Montpellier Manor. I only wish my parents were staying permanently, as I know they would be looked after. Mum loved the decor, purple is her favourite colour! Mum just wished there were a few more residents on the ground floor who were able to hold a conversation with her, as Mum's brain is still working perfectly! We all loved her garden room, and Dad loved his sunny and very warm room. I only hope Mum and Dad are able to return if they need to. Thank you for looking after them.

The staff are amazing, it's a breath of fresh air coming here. From the moment we walk in reception people are so happy greeting us, to the care my dad receives. Absolutely fantastic.

My mum has been living at Montpellier Manor for almost a year now. She is on the first floor of the building.
As a regular visitor, I have been impressed by the hard work and dedication of the staff. The carers are observant, patient and try to cater for the needs of each individual. Alongside my mothers physical care, her emotional and spiritual needs are met.

As soon as you walk into Montpellier Manor you will be made to feel welcome.

The Montpellier care home in Middlesbrough is an amazing care home. The standard of care given to my father was outstanding in every single aspect.
The staff were second to none. From the reception staff, the maintenance team the care team, the catering and the management team all exceptional in there duties, to make this the best ran care home ive had experience of.
The engagement with the family was everything we could wish for at a very worrying time for us. We felt safe leaving dad in there care.
We would like to thank them fore there care and attention to detail in every thing they done for my father during his stay.
Everyone was an ambassador for the home

Thank you again

Steve

My mum has been loved and cared for by a wonderful bunch of carers over the last 3 years. Although she had sever dementia throughout this time she was treated with great respect and dignity at all times. Thank you.The care and contact with me in her final few days was excellent and supportive.

My dad came into Reuben Manor in February 2025 due to having dementia and not looking after himself properly. Unfortunately the home carers we had were useless. He never wanted to be in a home as liked his freedom. The best thing we did was getting him into Reuben Manor, they cared for him fed him and he looked like the proud man he used to be. They looked after him for the last few months of his life, he was clean and healthy, infact he hadn't looked so good in years!

I can't thank the staff enough for the care he was given.

My husband was a resident from March 2025 -September 2025 approximately six months before he sadly passed away and the care that he was given was wonderful from the day he arrived and the staff gave him help with everything he did and they were very understanding and supportive when he was feeling ill or down. I myself was made very welcome also our daughter and son.

So on behalf of my family I would like to thank everyone for all the care, love , support and attention given to him and us,once again a big thank you to you all.

Mum has been in Reuben Manor since November last year. We hated the idea of 'putting her in ' a care home but the decision had to be made as she was literacy dying in her assisted living facility, spending hours sleeping in bed and not eating. They couldn't provide the care she needed anymore. ( They were amazing but mum's needs changed). Moving her broke my heart but it was definitely the right decision. At first we lacked trust which is understandable after the care mum had had before but Reuben Manor soon gained it. The day after mum moved in she was up and dressed. The first time in 7 months. They gradually introduced her into the communal room and to activities. The staff have been just incredible with her and us. The chaplain Fiona was amazing with my family and I as we had been mum's main carers and had to let this go. We found it so difficult to let others do our job. She sat and talked us so many times. The staff have become friends and Mum is thriving. We know she is loved

My mam loves living at the Home. I feel as a family we find so much comfort in the kindness of the staff. Love the activities and seeing the posts on social media.

I would recommend the home to any family with absolute confidence that you will look after their family member.

My father came to Reuban Manor in January 2025, he was welcomed and made to feel part of this very special community from his first day. I phone him daily and ask how his day has been and his response is that he has had a marvellous day with the activities, talking to staff and in general just being in such a caring environment. The pastoral care is exceptional and it is such a relief for the family that he is happy, safe and well.

I normally visit my wife four to five times each week and have found absolutely nothing to complain about, regarding the care and constant attention she receives. Reuben Manor is a very happy place, managed by a very competent and professional team at all levels. After visiting for over six years, they have always treated me like one of the family, for which I will always be grateful.

My Mum first came in for respite in June and is now a permanent resident. She seems to have settled in well. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only problem I have is parking when visiting her. The car park is very small for the size of the care home.

Reply from Julie Peyton, Home Manager at Reuben Manor

For the last 10 years this care home has been a wonderful home for my grandmother. The staff treated her with incredible dignity and respect, creating a genuinely caring and compassionate environment. Yes, it was a care home but it was also her home.

Mum and Dad moved to Montpellier for two weeks respite a year and a half ago. We quickly realised it was the best and safest place to be. Dad was terminally ill; mum has dementia and we were exhausted trying to look after them at home. Dad passed away peacefully with the upmost care, compassion and respect. He was loved and cared for. Mum is cared for, respected and encouraged to live her best. There are activities she can join in with if she wants to. The spiritual care and support is wonderful, it's very much appreciated. The friendliness of the staff and their support of one another helps create a family atmosphere. We are grateful to have found such a special place for mum.

Montpellier is clean and spotless too which is wonderful.

Mum is very well looked after by your excellent caring staff, all her needs are catered for in a lovely happy caring atmosphere a home from home. There are plenty of activities to keep her busy and active. She enjoys her meals, she's always had a good appetite! As a family we are happy to so Mum settled and safe in her new home.

I asked my aunt for scores and she has put good on all points. In her eyes I don't think she would ever day excellent but I would certainly say that her care has been second to none. It is a beautifully kept care home with the best of furnishings. Food has been very good and the staff have all been exceptional. The managers in charge have been very helpful. (I live in Scotland so we have had quite a bit of contact by phone and they have been very understanding). Wish there were more care homes this around the country!

Probably the best decision me and mam have ever made It's made a massive difference to my mam's life - and ours. It's like a 5-star resort: excellent food, excellent entertainment, and absolutely immaculate.

My mam was reluctant to leave her flat at first. We had to make up an excuse, telling her that me and my brother had accidentally booked a holiday that crossed over leaving her alone. But after just five hours of mam staying there, she asked to stay for good.

And that's when we got our mam back. No longer the lady who was wasting away with dementia, not caring, sleeping all day, or going to bed and not getting up. The change has been incredible.

Highly recommended.
