I came away feeling the utmost respect for all those involved in my care and behind the scenes. They knew without being told what I needed and were always cheerful.
I have one item which it might help to address - the top of the chest of drawers in room 19 was flaking away at the front and anyone whose
sight is impaired might hurt themselves on its rough edges.
Reply from Anna Gillon, Home Manager at Priceholme

Thank you so much for your lovely words. We are very proud of our little home and all of our wonderful staff. It's nice for the staff to get the recognition they deserve. I appreciate you bringing the flaky drawers to our attention and be assured, these have been removed and replaced. I'm so pleased you had an enjoyable experience with us at Priceholme, and we hope to see you again in the future.

My Mother has now been a resident for around 8 years, and the fact that she is still in the health that she is in is a testament to the quality of service that she has received throughout her time as a resident.
Staff are caring, professional and efficient, and all the family are very comfortable
with the environment of the care home and we have absolute confidence in the management and the carers.
Facilities are generally well maintained and ongoing investment has seen some additions such as the summer house. The bedrooms could benefit from a little freshening up.
Activities are also arranged on an ongoing basis.
The food, which is all prepared fresh, has improved since the new chef has been employed and is first-rate.
Overall a well-run homely environment where my mother is well cared for and happy.

The care and support is excellent. The people working and living there have become almost like an extended family to me in looking after my mother. There is always a friendly welcome, and swift and ready support for queries from myself, my mother, or other family and friends who visit. As visitors,
we are welcome at any time of day. We can join in activities and offer suggestions. The staff all work so hard to help and support the residents. The rooms do need redecorating, and I know management are working to achieve this.

Mum has been a resident at Priceholme since 2021. The home is light, bright, clean and very welcoming - all of the staff are friendly and very caring, nothing is too much trouble. Mum has had occasional bouts of being unwell and during these times the staff are very attentive and keep me well informed.
My trust in the staff and the care mum receives is 100%

My mum and my aunt are being looked after at priceholme. I am very happy with their care. The staff are all really friendly and go to great lengths to support residents and families. The atmosphere in the home is warm and welcoming and it feels like a nice place to be. The staff put a great range of
activities on and also do all they can to facilitate anything the residents would like to do.

Mum has lived in priceholme for about 8 years, the care and support given to her and me through difficult times has been exceptional, mum is looked after with dignity, friendship and always with the best possible care. The team understands her needs and are very supportive. She is a very nervous, anxious
lady but she feels safe and happy around them. Certainly has some close bonds with some team. The management of the home are second to none, what an amazing job they do to help to create the home that is priceholme. Nothing ever too much trouble, great for a chat, consider them friends now which is a credit to them. Priceholme is an exceptional home. 5 star in all they do.

Priceholme care home in Scarborough is fabulous. My mother moved there about 3 months ago and the staff have done everything to make her feel comfortable, happy and welcome. From the management, admin, care staff, cooks, chefs, entertainment, maintenance, pastoral and laundry staff, everyone is very
helpful. The entertainment is varied and good fun for the residents to enjoy having just done a music week full of different activities and some groups coming in to also join in the entertainment. The menu is excellent and varied with different choices each day. My mother joins in with some activities such as art club, gardening and chair excercises and there is also a hairdressing day on a Wednesday. Thank you!

My husband has had the best care in Berwick Grange.
The carers are wonderful people and work so hard to make sure everyone is comfortable and well looked after.
They know each resident well and will approach them knowing how they will usually react in each circumstance and are, therefore, prepared
for difficult behaviour.
The home is well led and all the staff know the relatives well and will help in any way they can.
Advice is offered and given whenever appropriate.

This care home is wonderful. Dad has only been in three days and wow, so caring. The staff are wonderful,l the best in Scarborough. I would say, cleanliness is second to none. I'm so happy Dad is cared for so well. Thank you, Priceholme Scarborough. Can't praise you all so much. Don't worry if your
loved one needs care, then this is the care home.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We, as a team, love our little home and each and every person who passes through our doors becomes an extension to our family, yourself included. Hearing how pleased you are, makes us very happy. Dad is a brilliant character and has made us all laugh and smile with his humour and stories of days gone by. My father moved to Priceholme in May 2024 under quite difficult circumstances. We were so lucky to find a place in this care home. All of the staff have been amazing - patient, kind and empathetic in their approach. His room is comfortable and bright and always incredibly clean. And to top it off, there
is a full-time events coordinator to organise activities! I honestly cannot recommend Priceholme highly enough. Thank you to everyone who works there.

My father moved into Berwick Grange in July 2024 and we have been more than happy with his care. The staff are what makes this home. They genuinely care for the residents. They take them out on trips and on individual walks (or wheelchair) onto The Stray regularly. The secure outdoor area is pleasant
and laid out so that residents can easily do a bit of gardening or sit in the sun/shade. They cook the food on site and it always looks and smells appealing. You are welcome to eat with your relative, if you wish to.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to give you peace of mind that your relative is safe and being cared for - certainly better than we could ever have managed at home.
Reply from Steve Edgar, Home Manager at Berwick Grange

It is both pleasing and reassuring to know that you are having a positive experience of the home. The feedback we receive helps us maintain high standards, identify areas for further development and ensure we provide a quality person-centred service to our residents. We are really quite happy with the care my uncle gets at Berwick Grange. The staff are all great and when we attended the "Christmas party" recently, they pulled out all the stops and the residents, staff and visitors all had an excellent time.
Back to reality, I think the staff are amazing as the
job they do must prove difficult at times but despite the difficulties, they always manage to smile and have a few words with us when we visit. My uncle has definitely improved since he became a resident at Berwick Grange and he likes all the staff there but he does have a favourite and it shows in her demeanour.
The manager at Berwick Grange is very approachable and I am sure he would be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have. All in all, a caring and professional approach to services offered here.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. All the feedback we receive is useful, as it helps us to maintain and improve our standards of care based on residents' and visitors' views. Your kind words are appreciated and I am pleased to know that you have had a positive experience of our home. As well as a confirmation for myself and the team that we are meeting your uncle's needs, the review will help other people looking for a care home and considering Berwick Grange as one of their choices.

Berwick Grange

My sister has been a resident for about twelve years. She suffers from dementia. In all that time she has been looked after very well. Always clean - always attended to when she has needed something. In that time, she has had a few falls and broken hips. Each time I have made sure she returned to Berwick
Grange as soon as possible. The doctors believe she is reaching the end of her life but I have asked that if possible she can spend her last days at Berwick where she is known and loved rather than a hospice or hospital. This has been agreed. Obviously, in that twelve years there have been many changes but my sister has always been the benefit of the best care - and that continues now. I am so grateful that she is so well-loved and looked after. Thank you all at Berwick Grange.
Reply from Steve Edgar, Home Manager at Berwick Grange

I appreciate you taking time to leave a review. Your feedback is important to us, as it helps us to reflect on the care we deliver, maintaining areas of good practice whilst identifying any areas for improvement. Thank you for your kind and considerate words, which are welcome. It is reassuring for myself and my colleagues to know that we continue to meet your sister's needs and I am pleased to know that you have had a consistently positive experience of the home throughout her time here. Your review will help other people who may be considering Berwick Grange for themselves or a relative or friend.

My 89-year-old mum is currently convalescing at this beautiful residential care home following an accident at home which resulted in Mum having surgery and having her leg put in plaster to help repair her badly broken ankle. From the moment Mum arrived, all the staff greeted her and welcomed her. The
care and attention from all the staff Mum has received during her stay is ongoing and is far beyond our expectations. It is simply excellent! We as a family are so grateful to each and every member of staff, from the lovely carers (all of them are so attentive and caring), kitchen staff (superb food being cooked), cleaners (rooms are spotless), maintenance staff who keep the building and grounds ship shape, management/admin staff (this team is such a professional team and nothing is too much trouble for them). Mum means the world to all our family and we can all sleep on a night knowing Mum is safe and is in a friendly, happy place being so well looked after day and night. The place is so good that I am considering getting a room for myself!

My late mother was a resident in Priceholme for a year and a half until she sadly passed away at the end of last year. All the staff, including the management, carers, the Chaplain and the support staff, showed unfailing empathy and kindness to my mother, who was in a frail and vulnerable state. They
made my mum feel safe and supported during her last months of life. There were regular activities, including weekly religious services, that my mum enjoyed and provided an interest in her life. Mum was encouraged to socialise with the other residents, but her wishes were always respected and she could have her meals in her room if she chose. On Mum's funeral day, the cortège went past Priceholme and all the staff came out to pay their respects, with several attending the Thanksgiving service afterwards. Priceholme is a warm and caring home and I think the staff there are all doing their very best to care for the residents.
