I have always felt the warmth of staff on my visits and my wife speaks very highly of them all. On each of my visits any questions or concerns I have, have been answered in a friendly and satisfying manner. I have been invited to join in any event taking place and my wife enjoys every one she has attended.
I was so upset that my wife had to be admitted but since she has been here she seems so happy and content and her photos on the website have given us all so much pleasure and satisfaction and all the family know we have made the right decision.

Abbey Park Nursing Home

From the moment I entered Abbey Park I was made welcome. The staff were friendly and easy to get on with. So I chose to spend 3 weeks of respite care at Abbey Park following a hip operation. It was the right decision. I needed some personal care - help with dressing and showering: it was always prompt,
willing, and effective. The food was excellent, especially in terms of variety. I welcomed the chance to join other residents for lunch in the communal area - though many chose to eat in their rooms. My stay included the run up to Christmas, so there was a lively Christmas Fayre and several carol concerts including one led by a Salvation Army band. Otherwise, there would have been organised activity sessions. My accommodation was spacious, consisting of bedroom, lounge, and wet room. The lounge was ideal and convenient for entertaining visitors. I could not have wished for a more caring and supportive environment in which to quietly recuperate. My thanks to all the staff and management.
Reply from Tina Thompson, Home Manager at Abbey Park Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words Peter. We really enjoyed meeting you and as discussed I hope you feel able to come back and have a cup of coffee or lunch with us one day. I hope you continue to make good progress following your operation

My father was resident at Abbey Park nursing home during the last period of his life. The service he received was of a very high standard throughout. He had his own personal flat with ensuite which was kept scrupulously clean. Food was provided either in the dining room downstairs or brought up to him
in his flat if he ever preferred to stay upstairs. The food was of high quality, and plentiful. Carers were at all times attentive and truly caring towards my father. He would tell us of his lovely chats with carers, cleaning staff, cooks, and the chaplain. We found the level of service to be very high and it was particularly reassuring that Dad really liked his carers, and it was obviously that they really cared for him as well. In the last weeks of his life, they also supported us and kept us informed throughout. It will always be difficult to find a suitable and caring nursing home for a relative, but we definitely felt that we had made the right choice in Abbey Park. Thank you!

I think everyone is nervous when a parent goes into a care home, even though it often becomes a necessity at some point in life. We had other friends who had stayed at Abbey Park and feedback from their families and online reviews gave us the confidence that it was the place for Dad to move to when
the time came.
In all his time at Abbey Park, our Dad was genuinely cared for rather than just looked after, and it gave us all a peace of mind to know that he was in such good hands. His room was always clean, the staff looked after him with dignity, the food was excellent, and he was always clean and well dressed when we went to visit him.
Thank you to all the team, particularly in Sherbourne, where Dad stayed, who made Dad's final few years as comfortable as they did - all the family appreciate your efforts.

My dad was a resident of Abbey Park Care home in his final years. He had a lovely room (flat) that was kept spotlessly clean at all times and was always nice and warm. The staff were excellent - really committed to first class care and very warm, caring and efficient. Dad was very fond of them all.
We could not pick out names as from the carers to the cleaning staff, they all had the same warmth and commitment to giving the residents the best possible experience. There is also a lovely chaplain who regularly visits the residents.
The food is excellent - dad never complained about this apart from to say there was too much of it! Really good quality.
There is a nice garden at the back which dad liked to sit out in with visitors, and a nice dining area with a library of books.
The staff really went above and beyond for him, especially in his final weeks, making sure he was comfortable and we were kept informed at all times. We are so grateful for all everyone did for him, as was he.

Waterside House is clean and welcoming. The staff are kind caring and friendly. We feel part of a family where staff always have time for a chat. Also, if we need anything for our mom, the staff is always there to help. This included the kitchen staff, domestic staff, senior staff, cares, hairdresser
and Pastor. We also have a family meeting monthly.

Going into Charnwood House has been an extremely positive experience for my mother. Mum has always maintained that she would not go in an home. She settled in quickly enjoying the interaction between staff and other residents and is very happy.
From the onset staff have been welcoming and helpful. Personal
care has been excellent. When I felt mum needed further medication, staff listened to my concerns and called the GP. After visiting several potential homes as soon as I entered Charnwood I felt mum would be happy there.

My mum has been here since February 2024.
The staff are lovely, always engaging with mum. Lots of smiles.
Management are always available, often just for a chat.
The food throughout the day is very good quality and varied.
Residents rooms have en-suite w/c and shower. Each unit has its own lounge
area and kitchen/dining area. There is a much larger communal lounge used for group activities.
Mum's room has her own furniture and pictures on the walls and her treasured ornaments.
There is a residents family and friends group TWIRL (Together we improve residents lives) who meet every month to put forward ideas and offer to help with the many activities.
I was told from the first day to feel at home and treat Charnwood house as mum's home. Mum's fellow residents and carers are like a family.
Mum is happy, and I'm happy that mum is being very well cared for.

My dad stayed at Charnwood for the last 9 months of his life. He had dementia & had mostly lost the ability to walk. As a family we were reluctant to move my dad into permanent residential care but we could no longer provide the care that he needed. We needn't have worried. Within days of him moving
in we knew he was safe & well looked after. He was always clean & well presented when we visited. The staff were always very friendly & welcoming & it was obvious from their interactions with my dad & the other residents that they genuinely cared & treated everyone with the utmost respect.
My dad became very ill very quickly while I was visiting him. The staff were outstanding in their response to an emergency situation. My dad was taken to hospital within 20 mins but he died 4 days later. I cannot praise the staff enough for how they handled a very serious situation, being both professional, calm & caring.
I will always be grateful to Charnwood for looking after my dad so well.
Reply from Claire Picchi, Home Manager at Charnwood HouseThank you for such a lovely review, your words will mean so much to all of the staff. My dad has been in Abbey park since December 2024.
Dad is always clean, well shaved and in clean clothes every day.
His meals look absolutely delicious and he is eating better now than has done in the last few years.
My dad has come on so well in the months he has been here and that's down to the
excellent care he receives, nothing is to much trouble.
The carers as very passionate regarding their jobs ,my dad is treated with respect and dignity at all times.
The activity program in place for the residents and for visitors to join in too is excellent ,painting, sing alongs , craft making , visits to pubs and so much more.
The activities coordinator goes above and beyond to help keep the residents busy and minds active.
We as a family are very happy with the care dad receives at Abbey park.

The care my Mother-in-law received at Charnwood House was first class. She was treated respectfully at all times and the staff seemed genuinely concerned for her well being at all times. The end of care treatment she received was exemplary. The staff were always available and helpful to visitors, in

Where to start?! My mum went into Charnwood House November 2023, I was very apprehensive about her moving into a care home but I know I couldn't look after her anymore. However, I can safely say that immediately mum was made to feel at home, her photos were put on the wall on the same day as she moved
in, and I was assured they would look after mum for me. This is exactly what they did do. So very kind and caring and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. I was welcomed in to be part of the Charnwood family. Amazing staff, from management to care workers so supportive in all aspects even after mum passed away. Thank you.

Staff are very kind and treat guests with respect. The visits are very nice. Residential apartments are unique in having private lounge area/kitchenette. Guests are very well cared for.
Concern- when lift was out of order (10 days), there was no alternative for guests to leave the room if on 1st floor
as stairlift does not work. What would happen in case of fire? Would be good if staff checked weekly for out-of-date produce as part of cleaning routine.
Reply from Tina Thompson, Home Manager at Abbey Park Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review, I am pleased to hear that our staff are kind and treat guests with respect and that you enjoy your visits to Abbey Park. With regards to the lift unfortunately the works required were not predicted therefore we were unable to provide an alternative at that time. However, in the event of a fire we practice horizontal evacuations as you cannot use a lift in a fire situation.Nevertheless, you raise a valid point, and we have recommissioned our stair lift so in the event of a future breakdown there will be an alternative means of mobility between floors.Once again thank you for your review
