Review of Charnwood House from B A (Niece of Resident) published on 3 September 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My uncle arrived in Charnwood 11/8 and from the moment he became a resident he was so welcomed and made comfortable. He was smiling and happy as we were leaving. I came in today to find him looking so fresh and clean and tidy. I can go back to Ireland knowing he is in the right place and his every need will be looked after.

Review of Charnwood House from Jacquie L (Sister of Resident) published on 3 September 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

my sister (SS) has learning difficulties and dementia. SS has been through a lot of upheaval, including hospital stays and respite care, which has left her feeling frightened and confused. This made her behaviour appear to be a bit challenging, but the staff have worked with SS with kindness and patience and she is now starting to settle down. The one-to-one support has been invaluable as I am starting to see SS coming back to her old self. All of the staff are really lovely, very caring and professional. There are lots of fun social activities for residents and families. I feel very blessed to have SS in Charnwood House.

Review of Abbey Park Nursing Home from Pat K (Wife of Resident) published on 25 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Abbey Park go the extra mile. It was recently my husbands 94th birthday and we asked the home if we could use their lounge for a small gathering of friends for a cup of tea and cake. What the home did next was a complete surprise and overwhelming in their generosity. They not only decorated my husbands room but the "party room" and set out a small buffet, drinks and nibbles, which our friends found so impressive.

It is a memory which will live in our hearts. So grateful to all concerned.

Review of Charnwood House from R B (Respite Resident) published on 12 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
I had to find a very last minute unit that could offer me respite after a knee replacement. The staff at Charnwood were kind enough to help me for a week. I chose Charnwood because the husband of my cousin had been admitted several weeks before.
I found the whole experience eye opening and very positive. I was able to see my cousin's husband daily. The staff were completely amazing. I take my hat off to them as the saying goes, I was welcomed to the unit and also my visits following their very helpful week.

Thanks to all the staff.

Reply from Claire Picchi, Home Manager at Charnwood House

Thank you for your kind words, which I will pass this on to the staff team. It was a pleasure being able to support you following your surgery and look forward to you visiting us again soon.

My mothers mental and physical condition deteriorated in her previous care home. Her dementia and consequential fear appears to have stabilised in the past 12 months and she now appears to be far more relaxed and comfortable. This stabilisation is clearly attributable to the very high standard of care and the friendly, relaxed environment at the home,

I love the Abbey Park care home.
The staff are so dedicated and caring.
My mum has lived there for over four years and she is so very happy and it's peace of mind for me because I know she is getting the best possible care and love from the staff
There are always lovely activities, I always joke that my mum has more of a social life than I do.
I've never known such a friendly welcoming place

It's an absolute joy to go in and visit, it feels like my extended family.

Review of Waterside House from L H (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I moved my mum to Waterside House just under a year ago from another home where she was declining. Since then, she has been at Waterside House she is a different person. She is far happier; she smiles and laughs again. She has gained weight and generally looks, feels, and acts better than she did before she came. The love and care shown by all staff at Waterside House is superb. They make time for my mum, and the activities they offer are wonderful. I wish I had found Waterside House sooner; they are a shining example of how her care should be given.

My mother in law has recently become a resident at Charnwood. The care and professionalism from all the staff has been amazing. They have made her feel welcome from the carers, seniors, management, entertainment, catering staff and everyone at the home and this has helped immensely with the transition. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean, airy and all the amenities cater for all needs. Thank you all, as a family we are very pleased with the care she is receiving
