My mum entered Aughton Park in February after a period of hospitalisation and being unable to return to her apartment. This was a big move for mum and us as a family, and mum has been made really welcome. Despite having further hospital stays, every member of the Aughton Park team treats residents with dignity, really helps residents feel at home and really looks after mum. It is a beautiful well-led home.

I thought that there would be a lot of rules and regulations, but no, you are expected to conduct yourself in a proper manner which I think most patients conform to this ideal.

Reply from Tish McKee, Home Manager at Aughton Park

Overall Experience

Mum lived at Heather Grange, in the Garden Suite, for eighteen months up to 1 May when she passed away there, in her own room, aged 97.

Mum's move to Heather Grange made the final phase of her life more positive than I could have possibly imagined. She quickly settled in and made lots of friends amongst both the residents and the staff. It was a joy to see her enthusiastically join in the many activities that are on offer.

The accommodations are first class and the care team first class plus. They are so positive and friendly, and the quality of leadership is very reassuring. I always left after a visit feeling very upbeat and positive.

After a short spell in hospital, mum returned to Heather Grange to end her days. The care and attention provided at the end of mum's life was exceptional. She couldn't have been anywhere better.

The resident Chaplain, Nat, rounded off this final phase of mum's life by presiding over the funeral, making it a very personal and special occasion.

My mum has been resident at Pennystone Court for over 12 months. The care she has received has been outstanding. The staff are all professional, kind, supportive, and so engaging with mun. They keep her occupied, and she looks healthy, and any changes that occur in her presentation are reported to me immediately. This gives me confidence in their capabilities, and I am now able to be 'daughter again', a complete change from being an 'exhausted carer' when she was at home.

We, as a family, have found Pennystone Court the most friendly and caring place mum could ever be. Nothing is too much trouble and mum is completely happy and cared for. Thank you for everything you do.

My mum was a resident at Pennystone Court for 3 yrs up to her passing away in March 2026 and, during her time there, I was extremely happy with all aspects of her care. Indeed, in hindsight, asking them to care for my mum was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The staff are simply marvellous, nothing is too much trouble which was reflected in the care and compassion they showed when looking after my mum during her final days. Nothing but praise

Mum moved in the middle of the month and has settled really well. Due to the warm welcome from staff who have ensured mum is well cared for in a kind and considerate and professional manner. Nothing is too much trouble for mum or visiting family. The home is kept clean and tidy, and a warm welcome for residents and visitors.

Review of Aughton Park from David E (Husband of Resident) published on 23 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After viewing several Care Homes, Aughton Park shone above them all. It was the place my wife, who has Altzheimers, would be going without a doubt when the day came.
Well the day came, and from that first day, the staff and I mean ALL the staff, made the transition a lot easier than I thought.
My wife is so well looked after I feel like moving in myself. Everything is just so nice and welcoming. Her bedroom and en-suite are cleaned and tidied every day, the food in the restaurant is brilliant. Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, with Apple Crumble and custard for pud. All homemade, no brought in on a plate ding meals here. Even spoke to the chef.
Some visits are tough, but staff are always on hand to distract my wife as I leave, usually to the lounge where daily activities abound and all residents encouraged to join in. Be it singing, dancing or outside in the garden which is fantastic and well kept.

My mind is at ease knowing she cannot be in a better place. Thank you.

Reply from Louise Culshaw, Administration Manager at Aughton Park

Thank you so much for your lovely words. We love to see you and your lovely furry friend when you come for visits. It gives us great pleasure to hear that you feel happy and reassured with the care delivered and the great variety of home cooked food. Here's to many more happy visits.

My father became a resident at Aughton Park at the end of January, so he is approximately six weeks into his time in the home. The home have been excellent in helping him settle in, patient and caring. He has had several health complications, and whilst not a nursing home have looked after him.

We all hope he continues to settle. We understand that the management team is under-resourced at the moment. Our experience is that this has not affected his care.

Reply from Louise Culshaw, Administration Manager at Aughton Park

Thank you do your very kind words. I am happy to report that we are back to a full house within the management team but I am so glad that the absences did not affect the care that our residents continued to receive.

Review of Aughton Park from Samantha F (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum has recently moved into Aughton Park. We cannot thank Caren and Louise enough for the support they have shown me, my family especially my mum through this really difficult decision to support mum into 24 hour care. Mum has early onset Alzheimer's and so pleased to have found a home which is homely, friendly and activities on offer each day. Which mum enjoys.
The support for my dad has been incredible through this massive decision and transition for him and mum. The entire family get a friendly welcome from managers, carers and every staff member we meet on visits or speak to on the phone. We know mum is well cared for, safe and as happy as can be. Which is all we can ask.

We are reassured that we have definitely found the perfect home for mum and highly recommend Aughton Park to others.

Reply from Louise Culshaw, Administration Manager at Aughton Park

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I will share your lovely words amongst the team. Your mum is a joy to be around and we've found many connections within the home to her profession. We are so happy to hear that we could help and support more than just your mum on this difficult journey.

Review of Pennystone Court from Patricia F (Sister of Resident) published on 3 March 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

What a difference a year makes! This time last year I was desperate to find a loving care home for my sister. After many searches within the local area we found Pennystone Court. In this last year my sister has been given the best care possible, delivered by the most loving people you could ever meet. My sister is now very settled in a loving home from home. All her needs are delivered in comfortable, safe and secure conditions. She is able to enjoy a range of activities, or if so desired, spend quiet moments to reflect. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
