I was in Mapplewell Manor today and I was so impressed with the staff in the home, a long time resident had died this morning. The staff all treated mum and I with compassion and love. Mum had lived across from this person and had come to know her very well. The ambience in the home today was dignified,
respectful and somber. I have witnessed the outstanding care this lady received. She was always comfortable and happy despite being bed bound for many months. The staff at Mapplewell Manor go above and beyond for all residents their care is outstanding and they deserve this review.
Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell ManorThank you for your review and your kind words, especially at this difficult time. I am delighted that you found our team respectful and that your experience was that we treated your mum and you with compassion and love. I will share your kind review with the team.

Mapplewell Manor has a wonderful atmosphere, the care is excellent, but most of all, the staff are amazing. The admission team couldn't work harder if they tried; they put in over and above, and it is all filled with knowledge and compassion. Can't thank them enough, thank you xxx

My mum has received excellent care at the home, and I am extremely grateful for the support, kindness and professionalism shown by the entire team. The facilities are superb and always clean, welcoming and well-maintained. Every member of staff has treated my mum with genuine dignity and respect, and
it gives me great peace of mind knowing she is safe and well-cared-for at all times.
The food and drink are of a very high standard, and the staff are always happy to accommodate individual preferences. My mum enjoys the friendly atmosphere, and the activities offered help create a warm sense of community. The management team are approachable, proactive and clearly dedicated to maintaining excellent standards throughout the home.
Her room is comfortable, spotless and feels like a personal, homely space. Considering the level of care, the environment and the support provided, I feel the home offers exceptional value for money.
Overall, I am truly appreciative of the care my mum receives.
Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell ManorThank you so much for your very kind comments, it is an absolute pleasure to care your mum.

I am happy with the overall care my father receives as a resident and I am confident he is safe and looked after at all times. I do however feel that the frequency of bathing/showering should be reviewed, as he often requests this, and has to wait for several days before he gets a shower. My father
has an excellent relationship with all members of your team, and he enjoys the fun and banter they have together. The food is of a good standard, and any requests are catered for. Mapplewell Manor is a very friendly, relaxed clean and welcoming home for both residents and family.
Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell ManorThank your for you kind comments, I will look into your concerns regarding bathing/showering.

All care homes should provide the care and surroundings Mapplewell Manor offers. My sister has enjoyed her 2 weeks respite here. She would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for the care and reassurance we had while having a holiday break.

My husband was transferred into Mapplewell Manor from hospital following treatment for a chest infection. Although suffering from advanced Alzheimer's he had never previously experienced care other than at his own home and from me, his wife. Consequently he was a reluctant and often uncooperative resident.
To make matters worse, the four months he spent there were punctuated by visits to A&E and hospital stays, all of which made it even more difficult for him to settle. The amazing staff recognised and responded to the situation, never faltering in their attempts to integrate him into the community and establishing strong personal bonds. The standard of care was exceptional. It was also genuine. These wonderful people not only care for their residents they also care about them, making it a warm and safe environment.
Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell ManorThank you so much for your kind words. I will pass this on to our team.

Mum has been a resident of Sandygate Care Home for around 6 months. On admission her behaviour could sometimes be quite challenging however Jodi and her team reassured me that they would work with the other medical health teams to balance mum's medication and things would settle down. To be honest I
was sceptical as I felt dementia had taken mum away from myself and my family. However Jodi was right. They have a personal approach, tailoring treatment to the needs of each resident. I can't praise the team highly enough. There are times I can see my mum as I remember her and she remembers me as a loving daughter . We still have some challenging moments however these are now minimal. Mum enjoys the outings and is proving to be quite a character with her singing. Thank you to the everyone at Sandygate Care Home who are looking after mum so well.

Mum had to go into Sandygate due to having dementia. She has now been in approximately 5 years and looks so much better than when she first went in. She appears healthier and happier now.
Really well looked after by an amazing team that work there.

Due to a culmination of circumstances my mom went into Sandygate Care Home in 2021 at short notice in that her dementia had progressed to the point whereby my father could not care for her and he had been admitted to hospital. From my very first conversation I had with staff at Sandygate they have been
outstanding on all levels. Mom has remained there ever since. Being 2hrs drive away I needed to be sure mom was getting the very best of care. I can honestly say each time I have visited mom she has looked lovely. Her room has always been immaculate. Any incident involving mom has been reported to me immediately and I've been kept fully informed. Every time I've been there has been interactive entertainment.
Overall I have to say a benchmark level of care.

My sister has been in Mapplewell Manor for more than a year. She seems to be entirely content with the facilities and the care provided. She enjoys the meals and has a good appetite. She does not participate much in the activities offered but I think this is due to her dementia. She is certainly much
better and safer than when she was living alone and looking after herself.
Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell ManorThank you for your review. We are delighted that your sister seems content and that you feel she is much better and safer now.
