Care Homes Owned by MHA in Wiltshire

I had friendly welcome when I called in to visit my sister. It was close to tea time and she was sat at her table waiting to be served. The staff chatted in the background as they waited for the food trolleys to be brought through. They were kind and supportive but I don't think there was enough interaction with the residents. The staff knew the residents and their particular likes and dislikes, but sometimes the responses were gentler than others. It was disappointing to see some staff engaging with their phones rather than residents. Overall I think this is a good care home and I get it that working with dementia residents is not easy because of the lack of response and conversation and challenging behaviour. I would encourage staff to be more enagaged and sensitive. I would ask that 2 sitting chairs are in each bedroom to allow for 2 people to sit comfortably. One more thing, turn off the terrible music playing too loudly. Classical music would be a better option.

I apologise for the delay in sending this review but I have found the last few weeks difficult.

We also appreciated the support of the chaplain; my mother-in-law attended Sunday services, and she valued being able to as long as possible.

Although my mother was incapacitated for the majority of her time at the home, the staff did their best to make her as comfortable as possible, and for that, they have my thanks. A very professionally run facility, safe and secure. The care, sensitivity and empathy of the staff was fantastic.

A positive approach by staff from top to all levels of employees. The most noticeable feature about the surroundings the cleanliness and pleasant smell - not usual in care homes. The more challenging wing is again clean and wholesome smelling.

Fantastic caring staff. Make uou feel like you are part of a family. If they don't hear from you thry will comecand check you are ok. My husband enjoyed their company when they came in for a chat . The food was good and very good portion sizes. My husband was worried about going into a care home for the first time, but was soon put at ease.

I arrived and signed in. Access was easy and the hallway area clean and tidy. I got on to the floor to see my sister. As always a warm welcome by the staff on duty. I was in time to sit with her for lunch. After we chatted and reminisced.

From day one, the care and ethos of the home was a pleasant experience for my mum, she was treated as one of the family, and always took mums religion seriously, even during Welsh services (the chaplain was amazing).

I'm deeply grateful for the way they supported both of us through this experience. Their care gave us peace of mind and made a challenging time feel a little lighter. Thank you for going above and beyond.

My mother-in-law's stay at Fitzwarren House has been brilliant. She was clearly happy there & the staff were amazing. We felt completely reassured of her health, safety and wellbeing. They definitely go above & beyond with their care. Although mum has just passed, we will always be there to help & support the home in any way we can. We could not fault them. Excellent.

Brilliant staff fantastic food great rooms spacious staff thoughtful and caring and will listen to you all time also funny. Which helps looking to coming back again for restbite. Graham

The staff are all very professional and keep me informed if there is anything that I need to know.

I am very pleased with my husband's care. The staff are very good to him. I would recommend it to other families.

Fairways has been brilliant with our father diagnosed with vascular dementia we were struggling at home to keep him safe, clean and taking his medication properly. They are brilliant with him he is clean safe and very happy in the home.

Security not good as anyone could access the building & the lift, then could access the patient area.

The staff have been extremely attentive and caring to dad over the last 2 years. They have time to sit with him and encourage him if that is what is required. They are careful and thorough with personal hygiene and all with patience and understanding through difficult times.

Dad was happy and relaxed and enjoyed his final year of life thanks you the care provided by FW House.

My father stayed in FW nursing home for 1 year. FW is exceptional, it really is. The nurses, the carers, the cleaners, everyone - has been fantastic. Dad was really happy there and as a family we could not have asked for more.

My mum has been a resident for the past 2.5 years. She has been well cared for and very happy. It has had a new manager who has made significant changes to enhance to day to day running of the Fairways and implemented many changes in a short period of time, taking into consideration the residence's and his teams day to day activities, happiness, comfort and safety. His forward thinking & innovative leadership is refreshing especially in today's world. Relatives are kept upto date, engaged and included in everything, with feedback onborded and actioned. I take so much comfort and peace of mind from the care and support given to my mum. She is treated with dignity and respect and the team strive to make her happy and content, they are knowledgeable and professional & nothing is too much trouble. The whole team are a credit to MHA. High recommended.

My dad had respite care for 3 weeks. All the staff have a genuine love of their work and are full of kindness and respect towards my dad, who has Parkinson's. The accommodation was lovely. Varied menu choices and quality dishes. Dad thoroughly enjoyed his stay.
