Review of Claybourne from Sue L (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our Dad recently passed away after living at Claybourne for 14 months.

As a family, we were initially apprehensive about him moving into care, but we need not have worried. The care that he received was second to none. Claybourne is a community for its residents, and their families, full of warmth and love. Despite being in the later stages of dementia Dad always seemed to be content and happy to be there, and was very well cared for and involved, as much as his condition allowed, in the many activities on offer.

During his final few days, when Dad was on palliative care, the staff looked after him with the utmost compassion and tenderness, and this was extended to the family, too. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they enabled us to stay with him night and day.

Words cannot express our gratitude and appreciation of the management and staff of Claybourne, and we would not hesitate to recommend the home to others.

Reply from Mark Gratton, Home Manager at Claybourne

Review of Claybourne from Susie E (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 15 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Having experienced another care home and some weeks in hospital, it has been a relief to settle my mother-in-law into her lovely room at Claybourne. The transfer itself was really encouraging as staff gave us confidence and during our visit we could feel an amazing sense of calm. We have not been disappointed. The staff smile consistently and nothing is too much for them. M-I-L is always dressed well with hair tended to. There is real sense of putting the residents wishes first and a wide variety of activities available, three or more each day! The choice of food at the table is excellent and staff eat with residents meaning relationships are formed and residents encouraged to eat. The airy light building, and gardens which surround, give residents plenty of space and there is no feeling of being trapped. M-in-Law's birthday was only a couple of weeks after arrival and she was already becoming settled despite being unsettled elsewhere. M-in-L has had times when anxious but these have been managed really well. We, the family, feel wonderfully looked after too. Thank you Team Claybourne.

My mother has been in Briar Hill for 6 1/2 years. She has always been well cared for.

Lately I feel that things are not quite the same as they used to be and maybe the MHA could do with making some improvements.

Overall Experience

Our Aunt moved into Claybourne care home last month. After visiting other local homes we realised straight away that this was the place where our aunt would be well cared for. We haven't been disappointed. All the staff are approachable, friendly & most importantly, caring. Our aunt hasn't found it easy to settle into her new home but everyone is so supportive and kind that she is slowly accepting her new surroundings. The home is well laid out and maintained, with residents in each corridor having their own little community but the freedom to visit all parts of the building, as well as the gardens. There are a lot of activities, from music therapy, art and craft, quizzes and lots more and family and friends are always welcome to take part too. It is never an easy decision to put your loved ones into a care home but when you find somewhere as good as Claybourne, you know that you have made the right decision.

Reply from Mark Gratton, Home Manager at Claybourne

On behalf of everyone at Claybourne, we want to say a heartfelt thank you for your kind words and trust in us. We understand how difficult the decision can be to move a loved one into care, and we're so pleased to hear that your aunt is beginning to feel more settled. Our team works hard to create...

Review of Claybourne from Karen B (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 October 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum has been a resident of Claybourne since February 2025. I am bowled over each and every day I visit her with the standard of care, love and respect that all of the staff show to all of the residents. Within a very short time all of the carers, cleaners and kitchen staff all knew my Mum's name. The home has a lovely atmosphere and the Activity Leader soon knows what each resident likes and dislikes. She organises a fabulous entertainment programme including music activities, art and crafts and arm chair exercuse. The Chaplain takes time to get to know all the residents and her twice weekly fellowships are a delight. Thanks to each and everyone of you who make Claybourne a special place.

Since our friend came to permanently live at Claybourne we, as friends of the resident an only praise the care and love we see around all residents. The atmosphere is amazing and we are all treated the same, visitors & residents. The staff work so hard to, from the domestic staff, chef and his staff, management team and of couse the carers themselves. We admire & thank you all for everything you do.

Although this is the most difficult time for us as a family. Without the care and kindness of the staff, we would not cope.
The staff have shown a true kindness, warmth and compassion I never knew possible.

Special humans that we as family could not do without. Our dad is in safe, kind, caring hands.

Review of Weston House from V G (Niece of Resident) published on 31 January 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My aunt was a resident here for over 4 years and passed away recently. Under the helm of the manager and deputy manager she was cared for with love and respect. Every member of staff is part of a jigsaw puzzle there which fits without a piece missing. This includes management, nurses, care assistants, activity coordinators, laundry, housekeeping, the two lovely staff members in administration, the Chaplain, and the head chef and his team in the kitchen department. My aunt was always clean, well looked after, and certainly enjoyed the nourishing, tasty food she was served. When staff approached her, her eyes lit up and she loved them, a response that can't be faked with dementia. Be proud Weston House of the difference you make, in what is probably the worst time in anyone's life if they sadly succumb to Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia. And always be aware of the impact of acts of love and kindness towards residents and their families has on them. God bless.

Reply from Ruth Hazeldine, Home Manager at Weston House

Thank you for such a lovely review, it is wonderful to hear that you have had such a positive experience with the team and care at Weston House. Review of Claybourne from Sue S (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Claybourne is an outstanding home, the person- centred care is very obvious. The staff are approachable and listen to your comments and wishes. The home has an inclusive, community feel. Standards from furnishings to food are high, it is spotless and well maintained.
There are many enriching activities on offer , from fellowship services, armchair exercises, music therapy. The activities coordinator is full of ideas for varied and interesting things for all to join in.
My dad recently celebrated a milestone birthday,we were given a room for family to spend the day with him and the home provided a fantastic buffet.
The staff all genuinely care about the residents well being and have become like extended family, nothing is too much trouble, they all have such a positive attitude.

It's an excellent, well managed, well staffed home from home, it's a big step to entrust your loved ones into residential care but it's been a great decision. I cannot thank the manager and her team enough.
