My husband of 60 years has spent the last 4 years suffering from dementia and several physical conditions. His life has been appalling because of the lack of care made available to him and I have looked after him myself. Suffice to say that I have made 4 complaints to the council, one of which was...
My husband of 60 years has spent the last 4 years suffering from dementia and several physical conditions. His life has been appalling because of the lack of care made available to him and I have looked after him myself. Suffice to say that I have made 4 complaints to the council, one of which was sent to the ombudsman and found that they had been totally negligent. I had never heard of Fernwood until it was recommended to me because of their ability to address complex conditions. Against social services wishes he has gained a placement there. This is the happiest time he has had, because every member of staff is so caring, knowledgable, and professional. Not only that; from the top management down to staff with lesser duties there is an absolute kindness from everyone, not just to their resident but also their families. My husband was very wary of a Care home place; I told him he could go home and I will take the place! We have both received outstanding care.

Our son was at Fernwood for many many months, He passed away February 2026. Whilst at Fernwood he received such wonderful care and it was his home his adopted Fernwood family he used to say. The staff were so caring, friendly and committed to their work. He was recovering so well until unfortunately he took a turn for the worse over just a few days. He would have wanted me to inform as many as possible how wonderful Fernwood is and I am doing so for him. Fernwood should be recognised for the loving caring home it is. Excellent, wonderful and compassionate.

We are so happy with the care our dad receives at Otterburn Care Home. The staff are incredibly compassionate, caring and kind, and it is clear that they genuinely care about him as a person.
As his dementia and Alzheimer's slowly progress, knowing that he is being looked after with such patience, dignity and understanding means so much to our family. The team make a real effort to involve him in activities and keep him engaged, and it is lovely to see how much affection they have for him.
We recently had a care review with the team, and it was wonderful to see how committed everyone is to making sure Dad is comfortable, happy and receiving the best possible care.
As his dementia and Alzheimer's slowly progress, knowing that he is being looked after with such patience, dignity and understanding means so much to our family. The team make a real effort to involve him in activities and keep him engaged, and it is lovely to see how much affection they have for him.

My friend has been taken care of so extremely well despite v v challenging situations. He now treats BC as home and relates to and trusts all staff on his unit.

I attended the Summer Fayre at Fernwood Care Home Knowsley. Lots of effort had been made by Activities + Nursing staff. lovey atmosphere the music was very good plus kareoke at the end.

Overall, our experience at Thames House is good. My dad expresses that he is a lot happier here than at his previous placement. Overall, our experience at Thames House is good. My dad expresses that he is a lot happier here than at his previous placement. He has 121 care, however sadly I don't think he has built a relationship with all staff. My concern is that since my dad's arrival in Jan 26 he now spends less time out of bed. This is likely to be driven by my dad but I don't believe the staff actively encourage him, on occasions his personal care could be better. On the whole the nurses are good.

Couldn't ask for better care for my dad. The most amazing staff who go above and beyond to give the best possible quality of life and independence to each resident.
My dad is often taken out by the care staff and the 2 fab entertainment team so he gets to integrate into the community. There are also lots of activities within the home with families encouraged to join in.
The catering team are also fantastic, knowing each resident and the foods they like most.

No matter what day or time I visit the home is absolutely spotless throughout, including the residents bedrooms
