My mother lived at Aylesham Court for over 4 years. Her needs were complex and needed a high level of care. The dedication all the staff displayed, ensuring mum was cared for, comfortable and happy was second to none. Sadly, mum passed away this June. The compassion, love, dignity, and respect the staff
showed to mum and the family during her final days of life was wonderful. The family are so thankful for the guidance, support and help the staff gave to us after mum's passing too. Thank you, Aylesham Court, for being a part of mum's family'.

My father has been at the carehome now for just over 3 months and I have to say it is a wonderful carehome. The staff are all very friendly, caring and always adding a little humour. My dad is very happy there and always commenting on the good food and attentive care. They have a very well managed entertainment
schedule which is varied and encourages family participation and visits. We viewed a few carehome prior to choosing and had not seen any of this high standard, it has not disappointed since. The staff made an exceptional effort to make my father feel welcome and at ease from the outset. I also cannot compliment the staff enough for their attitudes, effort and care. Always willing to make that extra bit of effort that really makes a difference to the residents and family visitors. Exceptional care home, well done and keep up the wonderful work you all do.

Always pleased to see how well my step-mum looks and how she is well looked after. The staff are friendly and obviously have rapport with her.
The care home itself is always clean, bright and well maintained. I understand that the bedrooms are being refreshed
I would highly recommend Ashby Court

Mum has dementia and is cared for very well. Staff are professional but are very caring and patient. She is allowed to get up and go to bed as she wants. She may not always want to eat at the dedicated meal times, but she is always fed when she is ready. There is always food and drink available. She
participates in activities when she is able and enjoys the interactions.
Family are kept informed of any issues, promptly as they arise.
Notwithstanding the inherent confusion of mum's condition, she is happy and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for staff when helping mum. It's all on mum's terms, as she can cope, she is the centre of things.

My mum was at Ashby Court for 18months. I never had any concerns about her care. The nursing staff were excellent towards the end of her life.
If there was any criticism it would be that sometimes it would be difficult to find a carer.

My Mum was a resident at Ashby Court from December 2023 until her death there on 27th May 2025. During that period she was cared for wonderfully well. The staff catered for her needs diligently and well and my sister and I were able to approach staff to have questions answered whenever we needed. Mum
began her residency upstairs in the nursing unit but moved downstairs when her condition improved sufficiently and we were pleased with the way she was encouraged to take part in activities and communal mealtimes. As mum's condition worsened she was taken back upstairs in the last weeks of her life and was cared for with compassion and professionalism by the nurses and other carers. We were particularly grateful for the manner in which we were informed of mum's death and by the the care we and she received in the immediate aftermath. To conclude, we are very glad that mum spent her last months in such a caring environment.

From initial contact with the home to sort a place for mum all the staff, manager through to admin, nurses, care assistants, kitchen and laundry etc were so accommodating and helpful. Very efficient but with an individual and human touch. They cared with dignity and professionalism when required but
were always personable and easy to talk to.We were always kept informed about mums medical condition by the nursing staff and when mum passed they were so dignified and helpful. Many thanks to all.

My nanna has been in this care home for the last 8+ years. The first couple of years also spent with my grandad who has sadly passed away. They lived together in a double room on the dementia unit which was very accommodating. I would often visit them both in the living room which was lovely and inviting
and the staff were always friendly. The staff made my grandads final few days very comfortable and peaceful for him which we are very grateful for. Nanna is now in the nursing unit and she has a lovely room with bright light and lots of pictures on her wall. I have always had a great experience with all of the nursing staff who seem happy to be at work and have a lovely relationship with my nanna. She is always dressed well and clean. The food is prepared to a high standard and smells great. I will always speak highly of this care home.

My husband went into the home in November 2024 with lung problems which meant he was on oxygen 24/7. The manager said this was something the home could cope with. The nursing staff did not seem to have any experience with oxygen concentrators or NIV machines. My husband's oxygen became detached one
day and he was left with no oxygen for 7 minutes and unable to breathe, this was despite buzzing for help and shouting for help. The excuse was they were busy serving meals. They did apologise when I complained and said they would respond straight away in the future. Unfortunately, my husband was only in the home 10 days before he passed, he was seen the day before he died by the doctor but no one picked up on how poorly he was. He passed away in the early hours of the next morning and I was informed at 3am by phone that he had already died, I therefore believe no one checked on him in the night. They heard his machine bleeping went in and he was dying but no one called me until he had passed.

Overall the care home caters for my mum's needs. Issues have been resolved, ie upgrade of my mum's room, following an email from myself. Maybe internal reviews/checklists need to be established by management, to ensure the above is resolved before any complaint.
Have had mixed reviews about the standard
of food, cannot really comment as I'm not there when they receive the meals.
Would like to see some justification regarding the price increase.
Reply from Maria Ricketts, Customer Care Adviser at Ashby Court Care Home

We are sorry that the decorating and upgrade of mum's room was reactive. Once the issues were raised, the home responded to and completed the work in a very short space of time. There is a programme of redecoration and renewal in the home to ensure the environment is well decorated in all areas. Our Head Chef takes feedback from the residents on menu choices and implements these according to the feedback. There is a Residents' Committee that meet every month to ensure the residents' voices are heard where things like food choices and activities are concerned. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your mums stay as comfortable as possible.
