Review of Oak Lodge Care Home from Dennis C (Partner of Resident) published on 2 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My partner has been in the home since 2020. Has always been treated with respect and care and very well looked after. I doubt if there is anywhere better. She is always clean and fresh, always happy, bearing in mind her condition. The food is good nothing is too much trouble for the excellent staff.

Review of Knights' Grove Care Home from Hazel S (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our lovely Dad has found the perfect place to live. Staff go out of their way to build relationships with him, which has helped him to settle. Staff endeavour to find out about his interests and his past and engage him in conversations about these. Dad's personal care needs are addressed with high respect and dignity. Everyone, whether a resident or family member is greeted by staff with warmth . Staff are friendly and approachable and take their time to have a chat. Our Dad has certain staff who he is particularly fond of and their interactions are lovely to see. Dad is always clean and well presented. His room is light, airy and comfortable. The residents' food is lovely and there are always drinks available to keep hydrated. The journey of dementia is a long and difficult one. This is made easier by the staff at Knights Grove. My sister and I leave our regular visits to Dad happy, knowing that he is understood (even at difficult times) and being very well cared for.

Review of Knights' Grove Care Home from Lorna S (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother went in for two weeks respite and didn't want to leave. Knights Grove is different to many care homes in that firstly you can tell the staff enjoy working there, they are like a family, secondly the work that goes into activities for the residents is truly amazing and the care given to them also second to none. The food is very balanced and a high standard for a care home and most importantly my mum is happy there so I can relax knowing she is well looked after.

Reply from Megan O'Connor, Customer Service Adviser at Knights' Grove Care Home

Thank you for your kind words. We hope Knights' Grove did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. Review of Maypole Care Home from Lesley P (Wife of Resident) published on 20 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

The staff are respectful and treat my husband with dignity. Maypole has improved in lots of ways since the management has changed. New carpets and pictures have changed the first impression of the care home. New furniture and equipment also. The gardens are much impressed with hedges cut and borders replanted. The maintenance man David has been actively painting and fixing and my husband's room is always nice and clean. I am happy that Juby has actively improved conditions for all residents.

I visit Oak Lodge daily, and I must firstly say that every single staff member at whatever point of contact is friendly, polite, and always willing to help.
The cleanliness of the rooms and communal areas is always kept at very high standards.
The meals are well presented, smell amazing, and at a good eating temperature.

The residents that I come in contact with always has a smile on their faces.

Review of Freelands Croft Care Home from Tracey D (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum Jean was a resident for a short time (4 days),after a stay in hospital she was transferred to Freelands Croft. The staff were all so lovely from the cleaners, receptionist, health care assistants and nurses. The home was always clean and tidy. As was mums room.

The staff learned our names and were happy to take time to say how mum was doing. Mum had Alzheimer's so wasn't the best at communicating. The morning that mum passed away was obviously sad and unexpected.. my brother and myself had popped to see mum and were shocked to see she was unwell. The nursing staff dealt with the situation efficiently . An ambulance was called and the family decision was made for mum to spend her final days at Freelands Croft. However the days were cut short as mum passed away 3 hours later. The staff treated mum with respect and dignity. Even sending a floral tribute the the funeral. Even though mum was only there a short time the home was amazing and I would recommend .

Review of Knights' Grove Care Home from Carol A (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mother has been a resident of Knights Grove for nearly 4 years during which time she has been very happy and well looked after by the staff who greet her with a smile and her face lights up with pleasure at seeing them. They are genuinely pleased to see her and often sit with her to keep her company. They recognise that she used to like being dressed stylishly and although she can no longer recognise properly what she is wearing, they always try to achieve matching outfits complete with earrings and necklaces which, although she is not aware, we are very grateful. She is now bed chair bound but the staff are very compassionate and ensure that, where possible, she can participate in the many activities on offer and enjoy the local entertainment where she can participate. We are very grateful for the kind caring manner shown to our Mother and can relax between our visits knowing that she is receiving excellent care. Thank you Knights Grove.

Review of Knights' Grove Care Home from Yvonne G (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother has been living at Knights' Grove for four years and she loves it, the staff are so caring nothing is to much trouble. You can tell by mums face when a member of staff comes into the room her face lights up. Mum always looks nice and she has her hair set every week, the food they serve is excellent, mum needs to be spoon fed and they take their time in feeding her to make sure she has enough,. Mum can get quite agitated sometimes and they came and sit with her; they also do a lot of social activities.

Review of Knights' Grove Care Home from Sharon B (Niece of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I can't recommend this care home enough. My aunt has been a resident for 18 months and has had the most fantastic care. Staff are all so wonderful. They are caring, friendly and professional not just to residents but their families too. I have just taken a 2wk holiday (something I haven't done for many years, having been caring for my aunt) because I felt confident she would be happy and cared for in my absence. Daily updates on social media have meant I can see her enjoying herself whilst I'm away. It really is a 2nd family.

Review of Freelands Croft Care Home from Sue M (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum initially went to Freelands Croft for respite care, she had previously been to other homes for this. When it became clear she would need permanent residential care, she specifically asked to go back to Freelands which they were able to accommodate. She has been a resident for nearly 4 years now & is very happy there. She loves the staff, her room is nice & airy, overlooking the gardens & the food is really good. I have peace of mind that she is well looked after. All of the staff are wonderful & very caring. I am kept informed on her well being & consulted on any decision making. I would thoroughly recommend Freelands Croft.

Excellent staff with a genuine interest in my mother's care.
Mum's room was fine and she received her daily paper, as had been her habit before taking up residence here.
Being brought into the community space was helpful.

The staff at Freelands Croft are incredibly kind and caring. Placing a parent in a care home is an emotional time but the staff help ease the transition and adapt to my mum' changing needs. They are very accommodating and happy to help. The schedule of activities is normally quite varied - the activities team try to plan activities to include as many residents as possible and arrange occasional outings for those that are able to join.
