My wife had expressly instructed that I needed a short (few yards) walk along the corridor twice a day to keep my leg strength active. This was not done so I arrived home after 3 weeks with no mobility. There didn't appear to be any communication between the staff.
Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at Norewood Lodge Care HomeThank you for the review. It was a pleasure having you stay for a short time. I'm sorry that your mobility has deteriorated since returning home. We take pride in offering a person centred approach for all our residents ensuring all have their choices respected and their wishes met while in our care.

Reception staff, Debbie, is friendly and helpful. We have not had any dealings with anyone from the offices. On the whole all the staff appear very kind and caring, except our relative says the night time carers can forget to take the hearing aids out. And can be a bit rough. It's a shame our relative
never has a very strong cup of tea, their preference, hence they rarely drink it. The activities coordinator is extremely friendly and proactive in encouraging our relative to join in. She always has time to talk to our relative and us.
We are told the food is not always very good, according to our relative. They have trouble eating some of it due to their dexterity. We hope they are offered spoons or help with cutting things up.
The current bedroom is poorly laid out.The floor has always got food and crumbs on it. Numerous glasses usually on table when we visit, not sure which is clean one. Their chair has bare wires coming from remote control used to raise it. Wash room always clean.

Staff always professional and caring. Sometimes the communication wasn't always clear and sometimes difficult to get through to nursing staff.
Activities varied and enjoyable for residents. Warm and comfy room and nice lounge and garden for both residents and visitors. Coffee machine a godsend!
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Elm View Care HomeThank you for your comments. We will discuss your feedback regarding communication with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service.

My mother has been in this care home for 18 months now. She has been well looked after. The staff are excellent, very caring and patient. The home is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment so the rooms will decorated. The garden has had a major upgrade and is now a lovely space for the residents to
enjoy when the weather improves.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Norewood Lodge Care HomeThank you for your feedback. It is lovely to hear you describe our staff as very caring and patient. We also look forward to all our residents being able to fully enjoy the new upgraded garden once the weather improves.

Mum has been a resident at Elm View for just over 12 months.
She really enjoys all the activities and being able to mix with other residents during the mornings and afternoons. From chair exercises to painting and listening to music - the weekday programme is excellent for maintaining physical and
mental well-being.
Breakfast is served in her room and Mum appreciates having her lunch in the company of other residents in the dining room. Supper is served in her room which works well with TV or radio for entertainment.
Laundry is of a high quality as is house keeping in Mum's room and all the communal areas.
The choices of food are good and varied and certainly the Christmas lunch that we were able to join Mum for was excellent.
The staff are caring, knowledgeable and helpful across all the teams, housekeeping, catering, office, maintenance and of course care and nursing.
There are good connections with the local GP practice and pharmacy which provide additional reassurance
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Elm View Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are happy to hear that you find the activity programme and food provision to be excellent and all our staff to be caring and helpful. We hope to continue providing your Mum with the best possible care.

A lovely care home, superb management.
Chris, as a manager, is excellent. We are sad to see her go.
The only thing that we had problems with was keeping mum's hearing aid working with new batteries; sadly, that problem is no longer an issue.

My dad has a facial cancerous tumour which is growing rapidly, it's very visible & has an awful odour, but the nursing staff & carers have been really wonderful with him from day one - making him feel welcomed & included. We have been particularly impressed with the dressings the nurses have skillfully
managed to apply to his face (not an easy area to dress). As a family, we have also felt supported & know that the door is always open should we have any need to talk.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Norewood Lodge Care HomeIt's always encouraging to read reviews like this. My mother spent her last few weeks here in November last year. The staff were very kind and had high standards of care and cleanliness. They were also very welcoming towards my brother and I and we felt comfortable spending time there. We couldn't have asked for better care at such a traumatic time.
Despite the sad circumstances my final memories of my mother in such beautiful surroundings, gradually drifting away from us are very positive.

We were so impressed by the home manager at the residents/relatives meeting. She explained things well, making sure everyone could hear. She listened and gave people time and then she thought of ways to resolve any issues. We were also happy to hear that when Mum had a little fall, the staff were there
within seconds. Thank you all. Your smiling happy faces make us feel welcome and reassured that Mum is in the best place she could be.

As a family we can not speak highly enough of the care that my father received in the last days of his life. He was treated with tenderness & dignity by every single member of staff. That same level of care was extended to the whole family as we visited our father during this time. An uplifting and
reassuring experience in the most distressing of circumstances. Thank you.

Elm View were marvelous when we had to arrange emergency respite care for my father.
They were so kind and caring to all of us on arrival, showing real understanding of a very difficult situation.
My father seems to be settling well, and the quality of food, cake etc is a great hit with him. Thank
you all at Elm View for your ongoing care especially the manager, but also all the wonderful staff and admin.

We needed to get an assessment sorted to see if mum could get a chair supplied that would enable her to spend time out of bed safely and would also mean we could move her out of her room to the lounge, so that she could enjoy the activities. Mum has deteriorating needs so it needed to be assessed professionally.
We initially thought this would take weeks or even months for a referral, but it was quickly sorted out for us and mum only waited a couple of weeks. She now has a chair suitable for her needs and that will definitely enhance her quality of life. Thank you to the managers in the home for sorting this so quickly.
Reply from Maria Ricketts, Customer Care Adviser at Elm View Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We are glad to have helped mum receiving her new chair. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make mum's stay as comfortable as possible.

What kind people who looked after my wife. Thank you so much. What impressed me and my family who visited the home on many occasions was so helpful. The nurses and general assistants were caring for her in her last days. We shall all. Fondly remember theses difficult times where kindness does especially,
count.
