Waverley Grange Care Home

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Generally good, in some aspects very good indeed. Staff were brilliant. Creditable attempts to keep patients entertained. The welcome given to visitors a big plus. I noticed, with admiration, the support given to those patients who were struggling (not me!). Very efficient management, comfortable rooms.
If I have to be negative, I would say the food was not outstanding. Quite often bland, study or just unappetising, but puddings were good! Occasional glasses of wine were much appreciaed. A breakfast menu would have been useful.

On the 4th Feb, I had arranged a booking for the family room - it was my first visit there and a happy meeting for my dear brother, myself and two of his friends. The care staff and chef had everything set up for us. The room was warm and cosy. We were cared for like family, and we had a few happy hours.
I knew my brother would not remember the next day - but it was so lovely to see him so happy and laughing. Thanks so very, very much for making happy memories.

Sutton Lodge Care Home

from Linda P (Partner of Resident) published on 19 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My partner has stayed at Sutton Lodge for respite care several times over the past few months and I can't speak highly enough of the care he receives or of the good-humoured kindness, understanding and warmth of all the team at the home. The atmosphere is genuinely homely and friendly and, on each of
his respite stays, my partner and I have been welcomed back as one of the family. Unlike many homes that rely heavily on agency staff who are completely unfamiliar with the residents or their needs, all the staff at Sutton Lodge are permanent employees, many having been there for years, so they really get to know their residents and are fully invested in their wellbeing and happiness. I'm so grateful for their first class caring, understanding and support.

My brother has been at Sutton Lodge forr the past 7 months and we are extremely happy with the care he is receiving. We chose Sutton Lodge based on the homely atmoshere and warm reception we received when we first reviewed the home and we have not been disappointed. It has been very hard for my brother
to adjust to his new life as he has always been very independant so it is a great comfort knowing that the team at Sutton Lodge understand this and provide such kindness and support not only for him but also for me and my family. The food is good too and that is a great positive coming from my brother!
Thank you to everyone.

My brother was admitted to Arbrook House in September until November 2025 as an end-of-life resident. The care, medical attention, and services bestowed upon him for the duration of his stay were second to none. The professional but personal approach by all management and staff made both my brother
and family feel reassured that he was in the best place possible, right from the beginning of his stay through to the compassion and care shown when he sadly passed away. We will always remember your kindness shown to the very end of his life.

My mum required respite after a fall and subsequent hospital stay, and became a temporary resident in December. We carried out research of local homes and Arbrook, on paper, had all the offerings that mum required. The CQC ratings was also reassuring.
I have to say that it has exceeded our expectations
so much so that Mum is quite sad to leave. She has made some lovely friends, and all the staff have been incredible. I would highly recommend.
