I attended a 40th anniversary celebration of Bupa care homes at Waverley Grange Care home in July 2025 as a stall holder at the event. The staff had organised a range of events for the day, including singers, cooked food and activities for children in the garden. Children were welcome at the event.
The lady at the reception was very helpful and friendly when children and visitors needed to use the toilet inside the building.

Arbrook House Care Home

from Daniel W (Son of Resident) published on 11 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our mother was admitted to Arbrook house, in the later stages of her life. We (myself, my sister and brother), were very grateful to admit our mum into somewhere so pleasant. The home is lovely, as are the grounds, and all the staff creating a pleasant and caring environment.
Our mother's needs changed
over time, and the nurses and wider team knew exactly how to adapt the care she needed, giving her a dignified stay in challenging circumstances. The staff's support also extended to ourselves, ensuring we had everything we needed, including meals and allowing us to stay with our mum as she approached the end of her time.
The holistic support was a great comfort and relief to us. Furthermore, the management team were always seeking and responsive to feedback. We would recommend this hope highly and are very grateful to everyone associated with the home and wider firm.

Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Arbrook House Care Home

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this lovely review. We are sorry for your loss but we hope that the high standard of care your Mum received in her final days at Arbrook House was of comfort to you and the family. Thank you again for your kind recommendation.

So disappointing ..
Not sure my mother is being fed, do they feed her when I'm not there? No one else was being fed by staff.
She needed changing and I had an eye roll!
Do they assist her with drinking? The drinks in her room when I turned up were warm.
Does anyone truly care in the care profession?
The
room is small and incredibly dark, even in the middle of summer.

Having flown back to the UK this month for a holiday, I visited my uncle who has been a resident at Wingham Court for the last fifteen years. It was wonderful to see how happy and well-cared for he is. The staff were warm and friendly, and nothing he asked for was too much trouble. We were lucky enough
to have some good weather and enjoyed sitting in the lovely gardens together.

The food options are great and there a plenty of activities to keep my uncle and his friends busy. I was very impressed with Wingham Court and so pleased for my uncle to be living a happy, fulfilling life.

Review of

St George's Care Home

from David H (Husband of Resident) published on 31 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

I wanted to raise a concern regarding one of the residents who frequently shouts, often quite loudly, both during the day and at night. I fully appreciate that this may be due to a medical condition or something outside anyone's control. However, I've noticed that it can be quite distressing for my
wife and likely for other residents as well, particularly at night when rest is so important. Could I ask whether there is a support plan in place for this resident, and whether there might be any steps that could be taken to help manage the situation, for their wellbeing as well as for those around them? I truly appreciate the dedication and hard work your team puts in under challenging circumstances. I raise this only out of a desire to ensure the best possible care and comfort for everyone. By way of context: while my wife was confined to her room for a few days, I was with her for around three hours (10.30 to 13.30) each day, during which time the shouting was constant and clearly audible.

Ashley Park Care Home

from Melanie A (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

From the moment we arrived to visit Ashley Park looking for respite care for my 92 year old mother we were made to feel so welcome and supported as a family. Moving her in just two days later included a full staff welcome on arrival, was a very positive experience and she settled quickly. Staff are
extremely friendly, caring and nothing is too much trouble, my sister and I feel so grateful for the support from the team. Whilst mum doesn't often participate as she likes her own company, there are lots of activities offered, the grounds are beautiful and events like the VE Day celebrations and the recent Mad Hatters tea party were enjoyed by us all. We really appreciate the extra mile the team go to caring for the residents. Thank you!

My mum has been a resident for nearly six months, following a fall at home and an extended stay in hospital. The building is welcoming, warm and comfortable, the grounds beautiful and the food delicious - but it is the staff that make Ashley Park. The effort made by all staff, from Reception and Administration,
Catering and Maintenance and of course Nursing and Care staff to make Residents feel welcome, cared for and at home is really special. My family are really pleased we (with mum) chose Ashley Park. She is very happy there.

Review of

Arbrook House Care Home

from J H (Respite Resident) assisted by family/friend published on 11 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Respite care was a pleasant experience, and I tried to make the most of what was available. Care was kind and caring, but care givers were often under pressure because of staff shortages, resulting in them feeling overworked, and residents let down having to wait for most basic of personal needs to
be addressed. I enjoyed interacting with the staff, particularly the younger ones from foreign countries. I was very touched on receiving a card and flowers for my birthday just after arrival which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. The grounds are very attractive but unfortunately access to the lake and surrounding area is poor, the right-hand path was closed for the 5 weeks of my stay. The left side path is steep with a gate difficult to operate, not ideal. Goose droppings everywhere are very unpleasant. General maintenance can be an issue as painfully slow. Access for visitors is very welcoming and relaxed, lunch with residents possible and tea and biscuits always available, drinks and ice cream on a hot day a bonus and greatly enjoyed! Food was good on the whole but weekly menus are very unbalanced e.g. lots of pies/pastry dishes or pasta dishes in quick succession and the vegetables always overcooked! Lunch for carers needs to be scheduled so that residents can be taken back to their rooms without a frustrating wait.

From the first moment you accepted our father/ Grandfather into your care home, you went above and beyond for him and our family.
You included him and involved him daily in every activity that he wanted to be involved in. After coming from a home that just sat him in a chair all day, you provided
him with a quality of life again and his happiness and improvement was clear to see.
Just over a year he spent in your care till the day he passed and he was given the love and treatment any person could wish for for their relative. Thanks to each and every one of you for giving him a great last year of his life. love and best wishes. The Family

My neighbour was in Oakcroft for 20 days and was well looked after. Staff were kind. I liked the care home.
The care home was unfortunately unable to meet my neighbour's needs - high level dementia, so they moved her to another more suitable home. I was disappointed that, as her next of kin, I was
not informed or involved in this move, which took her outside our locality.
