When mum came to Manor Court in December, she really brightened up! The staff have been so caring and supportive. The care given is exceptional. Mum's condition means that she is deteriorating, but the staff keep her comfortable and treat her with dignity. Mum's taste for food changes, and she wants
home-cooked meals. The staff here try to cater for her needs, but mum isn't eating very much.

The Sidcup Care Home

from Roy C (Husband of Resident) published on 3 February 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
This review is based on my limited experience of two previous care homes not BUPA) that my wife resided at for two very short respite periods. Without doubt I was well satisfied with my overall experience compared to the standards that existed at those homes. On the downside I thought that at times
some staff could have carried out their duties with much more diligence. On the other hand, pleasingly, there were staff who far exceeded my expectations. One of my niggles is that no real effort was made to make her room homely. Also, from time to time I was left asking myself the reason why no attempt to address her concerns about things that had not been done or needed to be done. For example, in regard to the latter, on one occasion my wife tried to indicate to me (she could not speak) that a tooth that had been bridged had come out. I could not make head or tail of what happened and just left it at that. However, on a subsequent visit, whilst in her bathroom, I found that tooth in a tray. No mention whatsoever had been made to me of the occurrence.
Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at The Sidcup Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear about your experience with us, this isn't representative of our usual standards of care. The welfare of our residents is a priority across our homes. We can't discuss specific cases or personal details here, but we've spoken to the home, and made them aware of your feedback. They'd be happy to speak to you if you'd like to discuss this in more detail.

I was charmingly shown round the care home by a member of staff. She took time and trouble. The decor in the public rooms is relaxing and smart. The bedrooms, which are small were slightly smothering and predominantly beige. It was this overall beige of the bedrooms which makes me wonder if I could
live here, particularly if I was losing my faculties.

My dad has been there for nearly 3 years. The care he has received has been excellent. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the staff always seem to have a smile on their faces. When Dad has been unwell, they have immediately dealt wtih it, and helped his recovery enormously. In addition the range of
activities is wide and great seasonal on religious events. The food is also varied and tasty.

Wonderful! All staff at Elmstead are professional and knowledgeable, but above all, caring. They take a lot of time understanding my mother's needs and really have empathy for her character and subtle ways as her dementia progresses. The relief for me of her being now safe and cared for is palpable.
They keep constant contact with me and the family. So happy mum is at Elmstead.

My mum has been staying here for a few months now, and I cannot fault any of the staff or facilities. I have peace of mind knowing my mum is here, which means a lot for anyone in this situation. great.

My mother is a resident of "Hibiscus" and has settled in well without any problems. This is due to the staff who treat her with respect and dignity in a warm and friendly way. The staff are well managed by Marcia, who is an amazing person, with a lovely personality, who treats residents, staff and visitors
in an engaging and professional way. Her wide knowledge of the caring business keeps everything running smoothly.
PS - Manu, who also looks after mother, is dedicated and good with her.

My partner has been here for 7 years. I noticed the nursing has been improved a lot more and the maintenance and the food. I never encountered a problem with the staff they were all nice, and the administration is so helpful when dealing with paper work for my partner. Hope you carry on with the good
work, and more importantly, for the future, in order to have an excellent Nursing Home.

Made to feel very welcome, introduced to all staff and other residents.
Encouraged to join in all activities and suggest new activities. Food requirements taken into consideration. Never had any requests that are reasonable turned down. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.
