My mum Violet stayed in Smythe for five years; she was very happy there. Sadly, she fractured her hip and moved into Berens Unit. The staff and carers on both units were kind, supportive and caring.
The staff would always take time to talk to me. Sadly, Mum passed away in Berens, she was only there
3 weeks. I was with Mum when she passed, and the care and support I had was lovely. My mum's end of life was exceptional. All the staff are so kind, including the office staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbotsleigh Mews. Thank you.

Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home

from D C (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 November 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum was a resident in Calvin House for just over 3 years until she passed away at the beginning of October. She always told me how much she "liked it here". She was always treated with dignity and respect. All the carers were conscientious and had a great deal of empathy, especially during Mum's last
few days.
Mum enjoyed the activities and enjoyed singing and dancing when she was able.
I enjoyed visiting Mum and having coffee and a chat. She loved to talk.
The carers were diligent in recording Mum's eating and drinking. If ever Mum was unwell or needed review the senior carers were always very proactive. I can't fault the care on Calvin House.

My mum has been a resident since April 25
after suffering a massive stroke
As a family we were dubious about putting her in a care home however the staff have definitely put us at ease and we don't have to worry about her being cared for, all the staff play their part in making mum feel at ease and
try to encourage her to take part in any activity that may be going on
If we have any questions or queries relating to anything we can always rely on Akash, Mel or Alice to answer them.

My mother-in-law came here nearly a year ago last year October 2024. She has been looked after very well by the wonderful regular staff and management. She is very comfortable with Asian staff to talk to, and ask for any type of help she needs. She doesn't enjoy the activities because she cannot sit
on the chairs. Management informed us if there is any issue with her health, and looked after by the GP and other services eg - 111. Care home is very secure, clean and very welcoming. Foodwise - she enjoys the Indian Food, Dali, Curry and Rice, and Lentils. So overall, she is happy.

My overall experience at the Arkley Care Home has been and still is excellent. Since the new manager took over, her leadership has seen big changes in the care home. As in staffing, Denisea runs the home to a high level and tactfully pushes all her staff to perform to their best at all times when on
duty. I find all staff in all jobs very efficient, and I am very happy with the care and consideration my wife is given.

I cannot endorse Elmstead Care Home enough. Mum spent the last 4 years of her life with deteriorating dementia, and at all times they treated her with care, respect and love. The last few months, especially, they went the extra mile to keep her in their care when she was very poorly, to ensure her comfort
and happiness, as well as our own relief as a family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done.

We have Mum receiving good care now for over two months. The team are working hard liaising, getting to know one another and we are developing routines and methodologies that fulfill and suit my mother's needs and wants. Changes in flooring and personal care, safety equipment (alarm mat) advice regarding
getting assessment for essential aid equipment to support her changing needs and safety requirements have been invaluable. We shall continue to liaise for her ever changing care needs. Thank you.

I am very happy with the care Ian gets here. The room is clean and very pleasant. Good light from the windows, which helps.
All the staff seem kind and attentive to him, although he gets very confused.
Overall, the home is excellent in my opinion.

Just to provide feedback on the high standard of care that the activities coordinator and staff give to Florence.
They lift her spirits and keep her active and involved.
It's been the best care home she has been in.
