The staff are consistently happy, loving and extremely caring, night and day. I feel very safe and cared for. The entertainment is all round pleasurable and very varied. There is very rarely a dull moment, and entertainment is always delivered with love.
You would have a job to find a better care
home than this one! I find that my needs always come first.

I am continuously impressed by the care and genuine concern all the staff given to my mum and other residents, this includes management. The entertainment is outstanding, be it singing, exercise, art of the brilliant singers. The activity coordinator has a really amazing relationship with all residents,

Alverston Leys has become so much more than an excellent care home. The staff have made mum and myself feel like we are part of their 'family'. As nurses, Mum and I valued the care she received. As she changed so the staff responded with professionalism, care and empathy. Mum received end of life care
in her last weeks dying peacefully with carers and all the staff going the extra mile. Words are not enough to express my thanks. I trusted them they did not let me or Mum down.

A lovely home, all staff (carers, nurses, office staff, housekeepers, kitchen staff, and support staff) go above and beyond. Everyone works together as a team.
I'm pleased that we had been offered a place at this nursing home for my mother. It's reassuring to know that she is well cared for.

A very lovely and friendly care home. All staff and carers/nurses are welcoming. Things that need doing get done quickly. The home makes what is a very difficult time of life more comfortable. It's reassuring that my mother's final days/weeks are the best they can be.

I cannot praise highly enough the staff at Canning Court. Everyone is so kind and supportive. Nothing is too much trouble and I am so grateful to each and every member of staff for their patience and kindness. They somehow manage to be professional in their work whilst maintaining a very personal caring
approach. It is very much appreciated by my family. There is only one area of difficulty in preventing one or two residents from wandering into Mum's room and taking things while she is sleeping which she does a lot. This continues to be a frustrating problem.
Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at Canning Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words about our team at Canning Court, we are all very pleased to hear that the teams support and compassion have had a positive impact on your mum and your family.
We appreciate you raising your concerns in relation to residents entering your mum's room and understand that this may be frustrating and worrying, please be assured we take your concerns raised very seriously and will actively be looking at ways in which we can resolve these incidents.
Please also feel free to come and speak with the home manager to discuss your concerns further.

As a family we are very pleased with the care support and understanding my wife has received since she became a resident of the Canning Court Care Home just over 6 months ago. At first she did not find it easy to adapt to being in a care home environment. Thankfully, the staff appreciated her situation
and were mindful of the need to help her become settled and feel more at home in her new surroundings. I believe we have been very fortunate to have found what I regard as a very excellent care home for my wife's needs.
Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at Canning Court Care HomeWe appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. Mum is on a puree diet due to a choking incident and she tells me the food is very good. A great effort is made with all the activities to include arts & crafts, physical exercise in a fun way ie ball throwing - lots of laughter. Watching films and listening to music both on TV and live music. Great
value for money in comparison to other homes.

Dad enjoyed his stay at Canning Court. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and encouraged him to be as independent as he could safely.
Dad felt comfortable and relaxed which made his recovery time from hospital half of what we expected it to be.
I would recommend Canning Court for the support
they gave my dad as well as the help and support given to me.
The place was clean, the staff personable, the food good and support outstanding. Thank you

I originally left a 5 start review after only 3 weeks of my wife's stay at Cannon Court, however by June 2025 I had completely changed my opinion. In January 2025 my wife had an incident which was described by staff as a 'fall' (although this was unwitnessed). She has a broken nose, badly bruised face
and swollen eye, 12 staples in the other side of her head and severe bruising to her neck (both sides). On arrival at the A&E department in Hospital the doctor asked how she had come to get the injuries and when I said potentially as a result of a fall, she was shocked and stated the injuries were 'not consistent with that of a fall'. My wife suffers from dementia so she could not describe what happened to her. An investigation concluded that there was no witnesses to whatever occurred so it was 'more than likely' a fall! My wife's behaviour was difficult for staff to control and she had regular outbursts but the CH were aware of this and accepted her as a resident.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Canning Court Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback, we appreciate how distressing this must have been for you. Our residents' health and wellbeing is our absolute priority and we take all incidents extremely seriously. We carried out a full investigation into the incident at the time and shared the outcome of that investigation with you. Canning Court Care Home welcomes anyone in need of residential, nursing and dementia care and we continually review our care practices and staff training to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents . If there are outstanding issues which you feel were not addressed following the investigation into the incident, please contact us on 0113 3604832 so we can discuss this further and address any remaining concerns. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

After viewing Alveston Leys to see if it would be suitable for my father to reside, I left feeling extremely happy. The setting is beautiful. The staff were warm and friendly. The food looked and smelled amazing. I knew my father would be comfortable here and well looked after and he is. Fast forward
6 weeks later, he is extremely happy, he loves the staff. He takes part in most of the activities and loves the food. He's settled in well and I leave him after I visit at peace, knowing he is safe and being cared for. I can't thank all of the staff enough for looking after my father.
