Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home

from Joe G (Son of Resident) published on 18 June 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I would like to thank the management team and all the staff for welcoming my mum into the care home. The transition from her previous home was difficult for her, but it is clear that the diligence, kindness, patience, and attentive care shown by everyone have helped her return to her usual self far
more quickly than we ever expected.
I live abroad, but I speak to my mum every day on a messaging app (with the help of my daughter), and I often see staff coming in to carry out their checks. They have such a wonderful manner with her, and their compassion and professionalism have helped her feel more comfortable, secure, and independent. She now happily accepts support from the caring staff, who have shown remarkable patience and dedication in helping her settle in.
I cannot remember the last time I saw her looking so well or sounding so happy. Knowing that she is safe, cared for, and genuinely settled gives us tremendous peace of mind.
Thank you for the outstanding care and support you provide
Reply from Rachel Crimp, Manager at Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeThank you, so much for this lovely review, we are so pleased that your mum is settled well and you have peace of mind. It really does mean so much to the team here.

We as a family were all made so welcome on our visit to look around Bentley Manor. The care home manager and deputy were both very supportive and understanding of our situation and worked quickly to assess our mother in law and to find the right room within the home. When we moved our relative into
the home, again we were met with very friendly staff including the manager and deputy who presented her with a welcome pack. What a lovely touch. On subsequent visits we are made to feel at home and our mum in law has settled really well. Top marks Bentley Manor.

I cannot speak highly enough of every single person at Regency Care Home and I am so grateful we chose this home for my mum, who lived with dementia. From the very first visit, we felt welcomed, reassured and completely confident that she would be in the safest, kindest hands possible - and they have
exceeded every single one of our expectations.
Dementia brings so many challenges, both for the person living with it and for families, and what makes this place truly exceptional is the way every member of staff understands this deeply. They don't just care for Mum - they truly see her, they respect her as an individual, and they went above and beyond to make sure she feels loved, comfortable, secure and happy every single day.
From the bottom of our hearts I would like to thank every single member of the staff who loved & supported Irene xx

Mum has been resident following discharge from hospital after a fall. The compassion and patience everyone has given her has been second to none as dementia causes her to be difficult at times. The home is very clean and all staff members are efficient, friendly and keen to help in any way. I have
been made very welcome on all occasions when visiting. Well done all.

My friend was transferred for nursing care from a previous care home that couldn't cater for his health needs. His health has improved to such an extent in the hands of the excellent nursing staff at Hollie Hill, that he feels confident to return home now. What he does not realise, however, is that
he'll no longer get a cooked breakfast and 3-course lunch if he were to go home, even with home carers! Hollie Hill staff are friendly and caring. I find it quite relaxing when I go to visit and am able to make us both a cuppa in the little kitchen there. Many thanks Hollie Hill for doing an excellent job!

As a family we were very worried and nervous about my grandma having to go into nursing care, everybody knows that nursing homes get a bad rep but wow, what a nice surprise and huge relief! The care staff have been wonderful, always really welcoming. The nurses on Grandma's unit go above and beyond,
we can't thank the staff on summer unit enough. Grandma has settled really well. Thank you to Julie, the home manager, for meeting with our family to put all of our worries to bed and being so welcoming and understanding. We appreciate how above and beyond you went for us! It is truly terrifying putting a loved one in care for the first time and we couldn't be happier knowing how well cared for she is. The place is clean, bright and homely. My grandma can be a stern woman so seeing her with a smile and saying wonderful things about the staff is amazing! Thanks everyone so much, I enjoy my weekly visits. Keep up the great work!

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mam was given a place at Hollie Hill after a worrying hospital stay, and it couldn't have worked out better. Not only did she get good care, she thrived there.
Another review mentioned the food, and from what we saw it was good, but also frequent, to the point where Mam gained all the weight lost
in hospital and more!
She found a new community, with the staff being caring, supportive and encouraging, and an activity programme with plenty to do if people choose. Bingo, arts/crafts, Owl sanctuary visits, cocktails/pool party in the garden are just some of the things Mam took part in, and residents had trips out to the coast etc.
As a very sociable lady, Mam had a wonderful time at Hollie Hill; we couldn't have hoped for better.

My mother has recently passed away at Treetops after being in their care for ha significant period of time with Alzheimer's. I have nothing but praise for the team who have cared for her with dignity and Compassion. Acorn Unit has been mum's home and for her to be cared for here when she reached the
end of her life was appropriate. The staff seamlessly were able to transfer their skills from caring with someone with cognitive and challenging behaviour to end of life care which was amazing. The staff ensured Acorn Unit was a place where kindness constant and they showed patience and genuine compassion. They are a group of people I will never forget. Not only did they care for mum they cared for me too.

Mum has been a resident on the nursing wing for a couple of months now. The care and respect shown to her by all staff is brilliant. Any suggestions made by myself and other family members are considered and tried and it feels that nothing is too much trouble.

Although mum is not very outgoing, the

staff all try to get her involved in any activities which are going on, rather than letting her stagnate in her room, again much appreciated by the rest of the family as we can not be with her all the time.

Mum has been particularly impressed with the speed and efficiency of the laundry service. This may not resonate with many, but mum has always been smartly dressed and having clean pressed clothes is important to her.

Reply from Louise Porter, Reviews Team at Hollie Hill Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience. My husband has been a resident at Northlea Court for almost 5 years. He requires nursing care and has limited mobility - he is in bed most of the time. Due to his physical limitations he is unable to take part in the several activities however I note there is a good range of activities available to
residents. George is always treated with respect and dignity and every effort is made to give him enjoyable experiences within the range of his capabilities. Whenever an issue has arisen it is dealt with promptly. I have always found care staff willing to go to extra efforts to ensure George is given good experiences.
