The Elms Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Sister has broken her leg & required respite care for a period of time. From the moment she arrived the staff have all been so lovely & kind & made us laugh ! Nothing has been too much trouble, especially a male member of staff JJ who sourced a wheelchair & blew the tyre up for her, nothing seemed
to be too much trouble, but peace of mind for her sisters knowing she is in good hands with smiling kind staff every one of you, from the lovely activities lady to the gorgeous little black cat asleep at reception. My sister said the food is also excellent.
Reply from Gill McLean, Deputy Manager at The Elms Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. We're delighted to hear that your sister felt welcomed and well cared for during her respite stay. It's wonderful to know that our team helped bring some comfort, kindness, and even a few laughs during what must have been a difficult time for her.
We'll be sure to pass on your special thanks to JJ for his extra support, and we're glad the rest of the team-from our activities staff to our resident cat-helped create a positive experience. Hearing that the food was enjoyed too is the icing on the cake!
It means a great deal to us to know that you and your family felt peace of mind while your sister was with us. We wish her a smooth recovery, and please don't hesitate to reach out if we can support you again in the future.
Warm regards,
The Team

Stokeleigh was the fourth home I visited and I liked it straight away. It has a friendly and positive attitude. My dad has settled well and all his needs are being met. The staff are lovely and always available to tell me how dad is and if he needs anything. I like that there is a regular hairdresser
and podiatrist available and a variety of daily activities. The management team are very approachable and easily contacted. Having my dad settled and well cared for has given me peace of mind.
Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at StokeleighThank you for taking the time to write this review. Dad has been in long term care on the ground floor for almost nine months. He has a slow form of motor neurone disease and is 85 years old. Since moving into Hawkinge House, the staff have been extremely attentive and caring towards his needs. From the management & admin team, to the nurses, frontline
carers, entertainers, cleaners, chefs and maintenance crew, their experience, professionalism and friendliness towards residents, families and friends is second to none. With Dad's condition continuously worsening, the staff have been proactive in liaising with medical professionals and keeping us informed at every step. I am very pleased that Dad was welcomed into Hawkinge House and the transition was seamless. Although Dad cannot communicate like most residents there is always an underlying sense of friendship & community. We appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining these standards from day to day and would like to thank the entire team for their ongoing efforts.
Reply from Tara Peacock, Registered Manager at Hawkinge HouseThank you for your lovely review of our home. It really is a privilege to care for your father and I know the entire team are committed in providing him with the best care possible. Thank you again.

My mum has resided at Cotswolds Rise Care Home since June 2025. She is treated with compassion and care by all staff. The residents have regular activities to keep them engaged. The food is also superb. Mum was taken to hospital. Special thanks to Poojs (senior carer) for her care and compassion whilst
mum was ill. Pooja also took the time to contact me to keep me updated via mobile.

I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The standards of hygiene are very high, and I am always kept in touch with how my Uncle is doing. He is not the easiest of residents, but the staff always treat him with respect and dignity. I would highly recommend this home to others and
cannot speak highly enough of the staff.

Mum originally went to HH for rehabilitation following a hip replacement.

Mum was rehabilitated and now walks really well with a zimmer & receives regular exercise

Mum settled well & we as family including Mum decided HH would be Mums new home

Her care suite is home from home and is surrounded

by some of her furniture & personal items that are precious to her

Staff are attentive, kind, caring & meet Mums needs
Nothing is too much trouble for them

With a choice of home cooked meals, lots of activities tailored to individual needs , regular medication & company, living at HH has been a big benefit to Mums health & wellbeing both mentally & physically
Thanks so much for all you do not only for mum but for the peace of mind we have knowing Mum is so well cared for

Mum has been in the home for 7 months. It was an awful decision to place her there.
We picked this home having seen others within the Towns boundaries.
The quality of the care is impressive. The food is very good, with a choice each day, perhaps a little too much.
The activities are good. The external
entertainers are different and good
The feedback from staff is very assuring
A Doctor comes in every week. she is better than Mums GP.
The District Nurse, system works well. The foot doctor and the hair dresser are regular
The laundry is a known problem, not the cleaning but the return of clothing to the right person. I have no answer to this other than the families help out a bit.
The Georgian Town House, and its extension works well. The walled and railed garden is secure and safe. The building had a problem around the front door from above, with water ingress, post a cloud burst. It has been fixed after they were let down by "preferred contractors' timewise, local maintenance people may do things quicker and as well

My mother stayed at Wantsum Lodge for two months while recovering from a broken pelvis, and we were very pleased with the care she received. Her room was comfortable, and the staff were competent, patient and friendly. They made my mother's visitors feel very welcome.
During her stay, the team arranged
for her medication to be reviewed and for an audiologist and an optician to visit, ensuring her wider health needs were met. On the day she left, they helped her with a shower, gave her an early lunch, and provided two months' medication to take home.
I first visited Wantsum Lodge on a Sunday morning without an appointment, and the staff were happy to show me around. I found the building light, bright and welcoming. Later, when my mother wanted to see the home before moving in, the staff again gave us a full tour.
Most importantly, my mother said she was happy there and enjoyed the food. Overall, she was very well looked after, and we are grateful for all the care and support.

I have spent much of the past two days in Pine Lodge. During that time I have seen the usual high standard of compassion and care. But what has been amazing and very heart-warming, has been the way the activities have brought joy into the lives of so many of the residents. This morning Sadie, the
Activities Co-ordinator had a table of ladies cackling with laughter over some decorations they were making and later in the day a young pianist led the room in singing, whistling and dancing; he also allowed one of the residents to surprise us all with how well she can play! The joy was palpable.

Harlow Hall

My dad who suffered a stroke back in July is now a permanent resident in Harlow Hall, as he needs 24 hour care which I am unable to provide for him. It is something we both didn't ever want to happen, but there wasn't really any choice. Dad is very limited as to what he can participate in with the activities,
as he is visually impaired and hard of hearing, but the staff have made him so welcome. He seems to have settled in very well, even though he still thinks at times he's coming home. Harlow Hall is very clean and tidy, and the food is good. Snacks are always available. The carers are absolutely brilliant with my dad, and they tell me it's a pleasure looking after him. That is really nice to hear, as I still feel guilty about having to put him in a care home 5 months later.
I would recommend Harlow Hall to anyone looking for a care home.
