Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We are so grateful to have found Harlow Hall. What began as a short respite stay has now become a permanent home, which reflects the high level of care and kindness shown by everyone there.

From the beginning, the staff made mum feel welcome, safe, and respected. They took the time to understand

her needs and routines, making the transition much smoother than expected. It's clear she is not just being looked after, but genuinely cared for.

The team are approachable, compassionate, and professional, and communication has been excellent. It gives great peace of mind knowing she is in such capable hands.

Harlow Hall is clean, comfortable, and has a warm, friendly atmosphere. There has been a noticeable improvement in mums wellbeing, would highly recommended to others.

Massive thank you to all the team at Harlow Hall

Alton Place

from J M (Wife of Resident) published on 27 April 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The over all experience of this home is good.
However, I feel that more staff are needed now that there are more wheelchair users which need more assistance. More sit-to-stands are therefore needed to accommodate these people. Only on the ground floor is not sufficient.
Laundry is a continuing problem.
The
management team should be more evident during working hours.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Alton PlaceThank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your overall experience of the home has been good. We also appreciate you raising your concerns, as we are always looking for ways to improve the care and support we provide. Staffing levels, equipment needs, laundry processes, and management visibility are all important areas, and your comments will be shared with the team for review. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I found the home to be warm and welcoming to residents and families. My grandmother was a resident for 3 years until she died recently. The staff always appeared to be genuinely caring and helpful. They displayed warmth and empathy to her and were always interested how they could improve her well being.
I feel that they genuinely cared that made such a difference to her and to me. I have been in quite a few care homes with my work and not found any of their staff to be as caring as the ones in Ashgrove.
Reply from Lilly Mcneill, Marketing Apprentice at AshgroveThank you for such a touching review. We are so sorry for your loss, and we are deeply honored that you chose Ashgrove for your grandmother.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mother has been a resident of Woodlands House for nine years now and she continues to be very happy and settled in this very comfortable environment. Staff are always very responsive to her needs and support her very kindly. There are many activities offered here and Mum particularly enjoys the weekly
quizzes, art and craft activities, keep fit, music and games. In the summer it's good to be able to go out into the gardens and enjoy the flowers, trees and birdsong which Mum particularly likes. She says they're a friendly lot here and she feels she's among friends. She seems very happy. The environment is very warm and comfortable and is kept very clean and fresh. Mums room is welcoming with some of her furniture and possessions bought from her own home. The meals are all freshly cooked and usually served in the dining room which is sociable and bright. There are always food choices to suit everyone. She is very well looked after and I am always informed if there are any issues.

This review covers 2yrs and C's time with you and all our very regular visits to her in your care.
The outstanding care given to my very dear friend as been brilliant, I cannot find fault ANYWHERE with it. ALL care staff are so friendly and welcoming, each and everyone of them is a credit to the care
industry, and Rhosyn Melyn are incredibly lucky to have them, they truely are worth their weight in gold.
I cannot thank you enough especially for the long visits we have had over the last difficult week, your friendliness and hospitality with us as been phenominal.
An extra big thanks must especially go to the 2 night nurses who have worked this week upto 26.03.2026, they have been so compassionate and caring with our friend and us, it warms the heart.
Thank you all for helping to make the world a better place.

Victoria Lodge Care Home

We have found Victoria Lodge Care Home to be warm, friendly, clean and welcoming. The managers and staff are very efficient, understanding & quick to ammend any issues. Despite this being a difficult change for our sister they have done everything within their power to ensure her care needs both physically
& mentally are met. The building is always very clean, the staff are always focused on residents Care, the building is quite modern, nice outside spaces, a good sized car park, the decor inside the home is more like a boutique hotel (which is fantastic for both residents & visitors) the laundry service is very efficient and we have notice the residents are regularly offered drinks food snacks ect.
Reply from lilly mcneill, Marketing Apprentice at Victoria Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that your sister has settled in so well and that you are happy with the care, our facilities, and our team. It is reassuring to know that we've made this transition easier for your family. We will be sure to share your kind words with the team at Victoria Lodge.

The Elms Care Home

The Elms was chosen as a stepping stone between leaving hospital after nearly a month, and going home. I had to learn to live with a catheter and manage the regular changing of its components after the hospital doing it all without much advice. That's why my wife was with me most of the time at The
Elms. Everyone at The Elms worked together as a good team and their skills were comforting as their kindness to one and all. Accommodation was clean and bright and food more than adequate. In all a friendly caring place with I would think most happy occupants. Being a tempory, fleeting visitor I don't think my stay was typical.
Reply from Gill McLean, Deputy Manager at The Elms Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. Were really pleased to hear that your stay at The Elms provided a supportive stepping stone during your recovery after hospital.
Adjusting to something like managing a catheter can be challenging, so its good to know you felt supported during that time, and that your wifes presence was welcomed. Your kind words about our teams skills, teamwork, and compassion mean a great dealthey work hard to create a safe and reassuring environment for everyone in our care.
Were also glad you found the accommodation comfortable and the atmosphere friendly and caring. Even though your stay was temporary, its lovely to hear it made a positive difference during an important stage of your recovery.
We wish you all the very best as you continue at home, and thank you again for your thoughtful feedback.

My mum was admitted to the PAU Unit at Hawkhurst House in March 2025 after suffering a broken hip. The staff are wonderful, kind, compassionate and caring, managed by the manager Gail. Her office door is always open, and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum has now been transferred to the ground as a permanent
resident - I cannot speak highly enough of Gail and her team.
Reply from Gail Watkins, Registered Manager at Hawkhurst House PAUThank you for taking time to complete a review. It was our pleasure to care for mum on PAU and meet all the family. Although mum has moved downstairs to long stay she comes up to see us most days and she is always very welcome.
Thanks again

I visited Hartford Court today for the first time and was really impressed. The home was welcoming and the administrator asked me who I was here to see and made sure I went to the right place. The home was immaculately clean and the staff were really helpful. My friend said she liked being at Hartford
Court as it was cheerful and she has made new friends. What she really likes is the fact that the staff treat her with dignity and respect. She has the options to join in activities as she wishes. This was a really nice visit and I look forward to returning. She also said that she enjoys the food - there is plenty of it and she always has a good choice. She told me that she had made the right choice when she chose Hartford Court.

Dad went in for respite care on New Year's Eve 2025 / 26 and will now stay permanently.
The house and his room are lovely, the staff are very friendly and caring. I enjoy visiting Dad there and it has now started to feel like a second home for myself!
Dad is well looked after, he has good days and
bad days and often wants to go home but the staff are very patient and understanding with his mood swings.
I couldn't think of a better place for Dad to be, the house is lovely and well kept, and the location in the forest is gorgeous.
Unfortunately I have dropped one star as sometimes he cant reach his buzzer or phone when he is alone in his room.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Woodlands HouseThank you for your kind review. We're so pleased to hear that your dad feels settled with us and that you enjoy visiting - it's lovely to know Woodlands House is starting to feel like a second home for you too.

Our team works hard to provide compassionate care, especially on the more difficult days, so your kind words will mean a lot to them. We also appreciate you raising the point about the buzzer and phone, and we will certainly review this to help ensure they are always within easy reach.Thank you again for your feedback and for trusting us with your dad's care.
