Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I have always found the staff on the 2nd floor south of Hawkinge House to be helpful and caring. They look after mam very well, and she is happy there. Whenever I take her out, they help get her ready and transparent. There is a nice atmosphere, and the environment is very welcoming. They understand
mum's needs, habbits and listens and respects her wishes.
Reply from shelly Watson, Registered MAnager at Hawkinge House 2nd Floor UnitThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that your mam is happy on 2nd Floor South and that you continue to find the team helpful, caring, and supportive.
Our staff work hard to ensure every resident feels respected, understood, and comfortable, so it is wonderful to know that your mam's needs, habits, and wishes are recognised and honoured. Creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere is something we pride ourselves on, and your feedback means a great deal to the whole team.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum stayed at Stokeleigh for respite care for a fortnight. All the staff were very professional, very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was obvious that the staff treated their residents with respect and were part of a family not paying guests.
I would not hesitate using Stokeleigh again.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at StokeleighThank you for sharing your experience. We're delighted to hear that your mum's respite stay at Stokeleigh was positive and that our team made her feel respected, supported, and part of the family. Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit

from T P (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 March 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has now been at Hawkinge for a year and the care she has received from all the staff originally in PAU and now on second floor has been amazing. The individual attention that residents receive is truly outstanding. I've seen staff take the time to sit and hold someone's hand to reassure them, laugh
and joke with residents and treat them with dignity and respect at all times.
The atmosphere at Christmas was lovely with all the staff dressed in festive jumpers and a beautifully decorated table ready for lunch which itself looked delicious!
Mum recently celebrated her birthday and we arrived just in time to celebrate with the staff who provided cake, a card and a present! It was a really lovely gesture and made the day special for mum.
It's been a really tough year for us as a family but knowing that mum is safe and well cared for has made all the difference.
Reply from shelly Watson, Registered MAnager at Hawkinge House 2nd Floor UnitThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. It means a great deal to all of us at Hawkinge House to know that your mum has felt safe, supported, and well cared for over the past year.
We are delighted to hear that the teams in both PAU and on the second floor have made a positive difference to your mum's wellbeing. Our staff take great pride in offering personalised, compassionate care, and your comments about the meaningful moments-holding a hand, sharing a laugh, offering reassurance-truly reflect what we strive for every day.

Having to place a loved one into care is an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking decision that no family makes lightly. I had been dreading moving my uncle into a care home, but choosing Bethel House has been one of the best things to happen to him in years.
The level of care is outstanding, and
the home is always clean, welcoming, and full of warmth. Staff treat residents with genuine kindness, dignity, and respect. There is a real sense of community, with a wide range of activities tailored to individual tastes and abilities.
Communication with families is excellent, and there is a true family feel throughout. It is clear that every effort is made to ensure residents feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. We are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown every day.

This review is based on Broughton Hall operating as a care home within another group.
Managament have always been open to any concerns and being resolved effectively. Staff are wonderful in their care of my mother, it is reassuring to know she is well looked after.
A separate room would be benefical
to go to when visiting.
Feel staffing levels are low at certain times.

My brother arrived n Christmas Eve. The move caused some minor confusion and it took some days for him to feel settled and this included the need to change rooms. The staff has been unfailingly kind throughout all of this and helped him to settle in. They understand his individual need and are kind
to him. The senior staff have been very helpful to me as I navigate the systems. This home is way ahead of his former home and I rest easy knowing he is in good hands.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Woodchurch HouseThank you for your kind review. We're so pleased to hear that your brother is settling in well and that our team has been able to support both him and your family during this transition. We understand how unsettling a move can be, and we're glad the initial adjustments and room change have helped him feel more comfortable.

Thank you again for placing your trust in us to care for your brother. It means a great deal to know that you can rest easy knowing he is well cared for at Woodchurch House.

My mum was sent to Hazeldene care home from ashford for a 4 wk assessment
Upon arriving there to visit her I was greeted by staff who were smiling and making me very welcome
My mum was very poorly and was treated with kindness care and expert nursing she was quickly seen by the doctor a care plan
was put in place the care staff were attentive and visited her room regularly as did the nurses on duty they all made her feel safe and listened to she had a motion sensor was placed in the room to alert staff of any movement especially at night and they attended quickly
my mums health deteriorated and she was placed on palliative care I cannot praise enough all of the staff who looked after her they kept me fully informed when she had DKA she refused to go to hospital so they treated her there and respected her decision
My mum died 5 days later in a calm atmosphere with no pain
This is a special place people are respected loved and so are their families

My mum lives at home with me and my family, but I was in need of respite. Mum stayed at Moorhill Care Home for the month of January, and I felt 100% assured that she was in the best hands. The managers and staff were all extremely kind and caring. The vibe at the home is cheerful and relaxing. The interior
of the home is spacious, pristine, fresh and calming. The building is new and well thought out, and the grounds are beautiful. The Care Home is in a beautiful location. We live in Portsmouth, but this home is so conveniently situated just off the M27, that the 20 minute drive was not a problem. Mum had 9 night stay in a reputable Care Home in Emsworth last May, but Moorhill exceeded the Emsworth Home by a long stretch. I won't hesitate should I need respite again - I wouldn't mind booking myself into there!!

Mum initially went into Woodlands House for 2 weeks respite, but settled so well that we decided she would be best served remaining there. This was the best decision we made in terms of her care. The staff were so attentive to her needs; always encouraged feeding (despite her reluctance); and provided
exceptional care to her. Sadly her time at the home was limited, as she passed away after only a few weeks. Nevertheless we couldn't have been more impressed by what was provided to Mum, and the compassion that was shown to us following her passing.

My mum moved into the care January 2026 after her health declined a hospital admission and increased memory loss. I live in Spain and came to see her. I visited her for 5 of the 7 days in UK. I was very impressed with the care mum is receiving. The staff are lovely and treat mum kindly and with respect.
She has told my brother she feels safe there which puts my mind at rest. I just wanted to say thank you to all who look after my mum. I will be back in UK the end of April and look forward to seeing my mum again.

From the moment I arrived at Hawkhurt House, somewhat dispirited after a brief, painful post-operative hospital stay, I was received kindly and gently taken to my spacious, comfortable room. All the staff are professional, caring and cheerful and they tend their patients, doing their best to encourage
us in our efforts to regain strength and move forward and achieve independence.
Activities are regularly organised to stimulate and entertain us. Armchair keep fit exercises, word games, musical sessions, as well as occasional periods of animal/pet interaction. Patients/visitors are readily welcomed and offered a warm drink (sometimes a sandwich or cake), much appreciated after a long journey. Menus are varied and plentiful. All the plus points make patience stay a positive experience.

I truly did not know care homes could be this good! Mum wasn't keen on going into care until we showed her her fabulous room at Woodlands and the smile on her face said it all. All the staff were amazing, they had time to help everyone or to just have a chat when passing. Great food choices for each
meal and plenty of it! The activities & outings schedule was amazing with something for everyone. Mum particularly liked the regular quizzes that took place indoors or in the beautiful garden, as well as listening to the visiting singers and speakers.

He soon looked on it as his home. The staff were very attentive and kind. I can't praise them enough for their efforts with his care.
Physically and mentally. I could visit any time, day or night. Our dog, 'Poppy' was allowed to visit as well. We were made to feel like part of a family. A truly memorable experience. A huge thanks to everybody from me.
