Hawkinge House Long Term Care has been a home away from home for my sister. The facility is spacious, clean and welcoming. Both the management team and staff are pleasant, caring and professional. During my visits I had opportunities to join in with planned activities, mealtimes or simply engage
in private time with my sister. I appreciate the excellent care offered by Hawkinge House Long Term Care.

from Stephen H (Partner of Resident) published on 8 May 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I find all the staff at Moorhill are committed to providing an excellent service to residents and their visitors. The carers always anticipate the needs of the residents and are totally happy to serve any requests I have to help my partner get ready to go for an outing and to assist her on our return.
The senior staff are always happy to report on my partners health and wellbeing and are providing great help to her daughter with funding requirements for ongoing care. The building is a superb purpose-built facility and has lots of communal areas, both inside and outside, for residents to get together and relax. I'm really happy that my partner is being so well cared-for in Moorhill and I know she is happy living there.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at MoorhillThank you for your kind and thoughtful review. We are so pleased to hear that you feel your partner is happy and well cared for at Moorhill.

Moorhill

from Gill G (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Totally recommend Moorhill! We moved Mum to Moorhill (from home) in January this year. With no experience of care homes, I looked at many before choosing Moorhill and I have never regretted that decision. The care is outstanding and the friendliness and thoughtfulness of all staff always goes above
and beyond, treating every resident with respect and a ready smile. The social activities are excellent - Mum is never lonely or bored. Facilities are new and varied - it's like a little village! And best of all, Mum tells me every visit how she loves Moorhill and how happy she is! From a family perspective, we know that Mum is safe and cared for and that makes a massive difference to us all.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at MoorhillThank you so much for your lovely review and recommendation. We are delighted to hear how happy and settled your mum is at Moorhill, knowing she feels safe, supported, and enjoys life with us means a great deal to our team.

Your kind comments about our team, activities, and facilities are truly appreciated, and we will be sure to share them with everyone. Thank you again for placing your trust in us and for taking the time to share your experience.

Care home staff on the whole are very good and any issues are dealt with accordingly. Activities arranged during the summer are very good but during the darker nights not as much. Any discrepancies are acted on by the manager and dealt with accordingly. I do have an issue with medication and communication
between the the home GP and the staff at the home. Was waiting 3 months for some medication which I find to long and then most recently medication from Dec 25 not being issued.

My main problem with the home. Not enough staff are visiting my wife on a daily basis. I sit and observe the situation. A big problem I have witnessed is patients falling out of their chairs, and I have personally had to raise the alarm for carers. Staff should put away clothes properly. Some just throw
into the wardrobe. (As I check every day). There are many things that can be improved, and this is down to management.

We are so grateful to have found Harlow Hall. What began as a short respite stay has now become a permanent home, which reflects the high level of care and kindness shown by everyone there.

From the beginning, the staff made mum feel welcome, safe, and respected. They took the time to understand

her needs and routines, making the transition much smoother than expected. It's clear she is not just being looked after, but genuinely cared for.

The team are approachable, compassionate, and professional, and communication has been excellent. It gives great peace of mind knowing she is in such capable hands.

Harlow Hall is clean, comfortable, and has a warm, friendly atmosphere. There has been a noticeable improvement in mums wellbeing, would highly recommended to others.

Massive thank you to all the team at Harlow Hall

Newland House was a perfect choice for my mother for her last 15 months. The staff were all extremely welcoming whenever we visited, offering refreshments and an update on how she was. Mum enjoyed taking part in the various activities offered. Each and every one of the staff were so caring and thoughtful.
It was a huge relief to know she was so well looked after by Sue and her team. Thank you so much.

Alton Place

The over all experience of this home is good.
However, I feel that more staff are needed now that there are more wheelchair users which need more assistance. More sit-to-stands are therefore needed to accommodate these people. Only on the ground floor is not sufficient.
Laundry is a continuing problem.
The
management team should be more evident during working hours.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Alton PlaceThank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your overall experience of the home has been good. We also appreciate you raising your concerns, as we are always looking for ways to improve the care and support we provide. Staffing levels, equipment needs, laundry processes, and management visibility are all important areas, and your comments will be shared with the team for review. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I found the home to be warm and welcoming to residents and families. My grandmother was a resident for 3 years until she died recently. The staff always appeared to be genuinely caring and helpful. They displayed warmth and empathy to her and were always interested how they could improve her well being.
I feel that they genuinely cared that made such a difference to her and to me. I have been in quite a few care homes with my work and not found any of their staff to be as caring as the ones in Ashgrove.
