Always most welcoming. We really do feel at home here ourselves.
Caring for Dementia patients is difficult for all of us & we feel to be part of the team. We are kept well informed & feel well supported when our visits to our loved ones have proved a bit distressing.

Willowdene Care Home

from P P (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Prior to admission, contact was made by manager, which was reassuring. Mum settled in well and all her needs were met whilst at the home. I had some concerns about the delay in commencing a drug treatment managed by the GP surgery connected to the home, but the nursing home staff were on the case to
get it rectified so the treatment could start.
However, I feel she was discharged too early (encouraged by the hospital social worker to have 2 weeks of carers left of her care package) - but was readmitted to hospital 2 weeks later! (Needed a tavi within a tavi.)

Reply from Ruth Wilkinson, Home Manager at Willowdene Care Home

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. It's great that your mum settled in well and her needs were met. While the delay in treatment was concerning, it's reassuring that staff acted quickly. We appreciate your comments on the discharge process and areas for improvement.

Princess Lodge Care Centre

from P M (Sister of Resident) published on 25 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

As a family we were quite apprehensive of our relative going into Princess Lodge. From day one we were greeted by a friendly team and now after 9months we still get that warm greeting at reception. My sister has dementia and I observe her nearly every day being treated with such kindness and professionalism.
Whether it be the care staff, nurses, cleaners or the management team they all talk to her and always use her name. Her room is always spotless, her clothes are well looked after by the laundry services and the kitchen provide her with a varied menu. Entertainment is provided for her if she wishes and as a family we are invited along to many of the events. It's lovely to see how the staff, despite many challenges treat EVERYONE with such kindness and dignity. It's lovely to see staff who really do care about their work, and nothing is too much trouble. As a family we are really pleased and grateful to all that work together to make this home the safe and welcoming place it is.

Excellent staff. Very friendly. My cousin seems to be well cared-for here. (And the recent renovations are amazing!). The garden is so much better these days (though you might want to sort out the tree roots (or use a plastic ramp) for easier wheelchair access

Manorhey Care Centre

from Janet G (Sister of Resident) published on 24 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Manorhey care centre has looked after my brother since July last year. They have supported him clinically and holistically ensuring that his views are always considered.
They have settled him into residential care when he was less accepting of a formal care setting, which has relieved our family greatly.
He reports that he likes the staff; he says they take time to chat to him about his likes and dislikes and more generally his interests. He says he feels safe, supported and listened to.
From my point of view, I can't believe my brother has settled so well. He can be tricky, not always recognising his limitations. But he's been won over by the person centred care given at Manorhey.
Thank you so much from me and my family, knowing that our relative is living in such a caring and supportive environment means that we can enjoy good quality time with him when we visit.

My wife, suffering from dementia, has been resident for over five years. In that time there has been little change in staff which speaks for itself regarding staff quality and satisfaction. She has been well cared for during this advancement of dementia symptoms. I'm always welcomed with a smile when
visiting and care is carefully administered with dedication. Overall experience of The Devonshire Care Home is excellent.

Chartwell Manor

from Annabelle B (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I received a call from a senior carer to update me on how my mother was following a bad night. I told the carer I would visit the following morning but having put the phone down decided I wanted to see mum myself. I arrived at the home and was as always greeted in a very welcoming way. I made my way
to mum's room to find the senior carer who had called, with her back to the door and hence unaware of my presence. She was showing mum such gentle care and making sure her sheets were tucked in to keep her feet warm. Knowing this is how she is treated when no one is around was a wonderful thing to observe. I listened to staff interacting with the residents over supper and yet again was so impressed to hear their compassion and care. A visit that made me realise Chartwell Manor is a very special place.

After nearly a month he increased his mobility, regained his appetite and to go home and live independently.
The staff were professional,

The Centre was clean, comfortable with numerous facilities.
My father really enjoyed his stay there.

A very pleasant experience.
Warm and friendly staff. I had to ask on occasions for help and that was no trouble at all. I cant fill all boxes as no experience of category.

Review of

Cedar Court Care Home

from I M (Son of Resident) published on 23 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Dads stay at Cedar Court was brief as his health was failing, however in the time he was a resident he was made to feel comfortable and welcomed. The staff were kind and considerate caring for my father and made his final days as easy as could be. Carers deserve massive respect and Cedar Court is no
exception - as he said when asked "you have to have a heart"
