Woodland Care Home

from Suzanna R (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our mother was transferred from Hospital to Woodland nursing home for palliative care, from the moment you walk through the door your mind is put at ease, this is a home which provides exceptional nursing care. The staff are so warm and friendly and so very very kind. This is throughout the home, the
reception, the carers, the nurses, the kitchen and laundry. Everyone offers a tender touch, and are very much focused around patient centre care. Professional, empathy and outstanding are three words that I would describe the team. The home is spotless but homely and you are made to feel welcome and part of their family. My mums wishes were respected throughout and she was always cared with the utmost of dignity.
We could not have wished for a nicer home for our Mum to spend her final days.
Thank you.
Reply from Claire Royal, Home Manager at Woodland Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this lovely review of Woodland, especially at such a difficult time for your family.
It was an honour to be able to care for your Mum in her final days. Even though she wasn't with us very long, she is definitely a lady we will remember fondly.
The team work hard to provide the best possible care to those that live with us and their families, and they will be heartened to hear your kind words of support.

My husband Geoff came in for respite care but after about 4 days when he was no longer able to walk, I knew he could not come home. The care and attention he received was extremely good, very kind and professional. We were kindly and gently welcomed in and some of our children stayed quite late at night.
My daughter in law is a GP, my youngest son is a consultant surgeon. They too are very pleased pleased and totally in agreement with everything the staff did.

Croft House Care Home

from Bridget B (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From our initial enquiry as a family we could not be happier and grateful of Croft House.
We have been navigating the heartbreaking journey of mum's vascular dementia and Alzheimer's for some years. We knew mum's needs could now only be met in Dementia Nursing.
As a family we did our due diligence
and visited countless Care / Nursing Homes in the Wakefield area.
Croft House just felt right as we walked in. The welcome was lovely and heartwarming. To see our dad smile for the first time in a long time was everything and we knew from our initial visit that Croft House was where we wished for mum to be cared for. Mum has been at Croft House for one month now. The level of care is Gold Standard. It is apparent that the staff are there as a vocation and not just a job. They really do care and with a smile too.
We visit mum everyday. Visiting is welcomed at anytime and never discouraged.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum settled in to Pinewood very quickly and finds all the staff extremely helpful and understanding, as well as very efficient. At times, there has been a shortage of staff, but they all stay focused and ready to help.
The food is excellent, and good to know there is flexibility there.
Rooms are kept
clean and tidy.
All in all, she is happy.
One complaint, though. The windows are very badly fitted, making it very windy. Seals need replacing.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother-in-law moved in last year and settled in very well. She is always encouraged to participate in all activities - the team are absolutely incredible! From music to arts and crafts, to outings or handling newly hatched chicks at Easter. She may need encouragement, but with kindness, patience
and understanding, all carers offer a gentle persuasion to enable inclusion and enjoyment. All staff are professional, kind, caring, encouraging, patient and committed. They are familiar to residents and family as they are long-standing staff with a cheery, lighthearted and warm mood. The accommodation is welcoming and is always being upgraded. The maintenance team are hard working and nothing is ever too much. The care home is clean, as the domestic staff are very hardworking. The menu is healthy, varied and appropriate to the residents. The management team and senior nurses are incredible - nothing is missed and all appointments or concerns are always shared with families. Thank you, truly we are forever grateful and indebted to everyone!

Mum has been a resident since September and as a whole we as a family feel very satisfied with the care she is receiving. Mum's health is going downhill but at any time Daniella or Rose will always be happy to answer any questions and reassure us. Erica is a wonderful member of staff who keeps the room
spotless. Janice on reception is always welcoming with a big smile. Thank you to all for the amazing work you all do.

So pleased with the outcome of mams mood, she seems happier and keen to join in. I hope the sun shines soon so she can sit in the garden (hopefully with garden games), then she would feel she has been out for the day.
Compared to last year in assisted living, mam is clean, always dressed, smiling,
and not so depressed, so you've done a great job.
