Review of Gledhow from A T (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

After Dads 5th stroke I knew I couldn't look after him on my own as he wasn't mobile. I had heard that Gledhow was the best nursing home locally so we contacted the manager & found Dad a place. That was 18 months ago. The team have worked their magic & Dad is now stable. What a team! Well managed & it's wonderful to the consistancey of staff. We love you all.

Review of Mapplewell Manor from Wayne G (Son of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Mum was still independent at 89 years and despite failing health had managed at home until that age. She was not at all wanting to enter residential care but her health and my circumstance meant there was no option, initially resistant to moving in staff treated her with dignity and genuine friendship, mum's view changed 180 degrees she now says there isn't anywhere better to live. Staff help her maintain her independence and care for her with great kindness

Reply from Karen Hugill, Home Manager at Mapplewell Manor

Mum is 94 yrs old totally immobile/bedreliant, with deaf and dementia needs requiring 24-hour nursing/care attention. She has been at Gledhow for a month.

We were so worried and guilty about placing Mum in a home. In the event, all staff at the home have been so kind and reassuring, and most importantly we have observed them provide first class care and attention to her. We can see that she is comfortable, treated with respect and dignity and good humour. We are so grateful to all of the team for taking care of our dear mum.

Review of Homewood from W F (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum moved to Homewood in October 2025 following her Alzheimer's diagnosis. The staff are caring and friendly and Mum has settled in well. I visit most days and the staff are always so welcoming. They do not have set visiting times which is great. The programme of activities that Jackie organises for the residents in vast and caters for everyone's interests. Mum enjoys the musical performances especially. The food is very good and varied. They are given a choice of meals each day. Putting Mum into a carehome was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make but she is so settled and happy. Thank you Homewood!

Review of Gledhow from D B (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Dads care at his Care Home was excellent, from management, nurses, carers, kitchen staff, laundry staff and maintenance man. Communication was good, we were regularly informed of dads health issues and asked our opinion. Dental care was arranged for as when needed. Dad received good nutrition, hydration, that was documented, hygiene and safety. The chaplain was good at involving dad with services, discussions and visiting one to one. Entertainment was well planned, he had a lovely day out with staff and residents. He was taken outside in good weather when dad was well enough. his room was cleaned and hoovered every day. The entire family was reassured to know dad was well looked after.

Review of Alexandra House from Karen T (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Website

Massive shout out to the Manager and her Team for the support they have given to my father who moved in at the end of January this year. It's been hard for my father to accept care and I know he can be hard work at times but the Team that Work at Alexandra house have been very patient caring and shown respect and dignity at all times which has put my father at ease. This has made the transition of his life easier. The staff in the care home always have smiles on their faces and spend time with clients and work hard. The Home itself is a very relaxed atmosphere it is also spotlessly clean and that's down to good housekeeping. The only complaint my dad has is there is too much food which is so great to hear so again thank you to the cooks.

My family and I are very impressed with the care my father has received thank you for your care and support.

Reply from Kerry Graves, Home Manager at Alexandra House

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, I will be sure to pass this to the whole team. I am glad that both you and your father have had such a positive experience at Alexandra House and that your father has found happiness here.

Review of Hall Grange from Amanda D (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We are so grateful for the wonderful care my dad receives. The staff are truly amazing-kind, caring, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. The home itself is warm and welcoming, with excellent facilities that make it feel comfortable and homely. Moving dad into a care home wasn't easy, but the staff made the settling-in process so much easier for both my dad and our family during what was a very stressful time. We can't thank them enough for their compassion, support, and dedication. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for exceptional care.

Review of Hall Grange from P M (Brother of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My brother moved into Bluebell Ward for respite care over Christmas 2025 and became a permanent resident in January 2026.
The staff are all amazing , very kind and caring and my brother is safe and very well cared for.
There are varied daily activities and Fun Friday in the hub is not to be missed.
All the staff are friendly and helpful from the most senior members of staff to the most junior and know all the residents by name.

Many staff have worked there for a long time and the continuity of care is excellent ,which is very important for the residents and their families.

Mum was in Fitzwarren House for palliative care. In addition to medical care, the Nursing Team treated Mum with profound compassion and dignity. Review of Hall Grange from Chris S (Son of Resident) published on 23 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We moved my dad into Hall Grange due to his dementia progression. I had visited a few homes in addition to this one, and I was keen for dad to come here. The environment is great, the gardens are fabulous. The staff are incredible; dad can be very difficult but they have all been brilliant with him.
They encourage making the room as homely and familiar as needed to make the residents feel more at home.

I would have no issue recommending Hall Grange to anyone who might be looking for a care home for a loved one.

Review of Ty Gwyn Care Home from R F (Wife of Resident) published on 22 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband has been in Ty Gwyn for three weeks. As a family we are very impressed by how thoroughly they acquired information about him to ensure that his transition into the home went smoothly. On the day he was admitted we were met by Callum who helped us in with everything we had brought with us. This included a television that he set up immediately in my husband's room. The care and nursing staff are caring and helpful. He has had an appointment with a podiatrist, a GP and an optician. This has lifted a weight of responsibility from me. A hair cut will be next. They have ordered him a wheel chair. They have an open door policy so he has already had multiple visits from friends and neighbours

My mum has lived there for over four years and she is so very happy and it's peace of mind for me because I know she is getting the best possible care and love from the staff
There are always lovely activities, I always joke that my mum has more of a social life than I do.
