Mum had to go into Sandygate due to having dementia. She has now been in approximately 5 years and looks so much better than when she first went in. She appears healthier and happier now.
Really well looked after by an amazing team that work there.

Due to a culmination of circumstances my mom went into Sandygate Care Home in 2021 at short notice in that her dementia had progressed to the point whereby my father could not care for her and he had been admitted to hospital. From my very first conversation I had with staff at Sandygate they have been
outstanding on all levels. Mom has remained there ever since. Being 2hrs drive away I needed to be sure mom was getting the very best of care. I can honestly say each time I have visited mom she has looked lovely. Her room has always been immaculate. Any incident involving mom has been reported to me immediately and I've been kept fully informed. Every time I've been there has been interactive entertainment.
Overall I have to say a benchmark level of care.

Having recently moving into Warde Aldam nursing unit, my sister is being given a very high level of care. She really likes it and says all the staff are so friendly. As a visitor I find it a really welcoming home and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff acknowledge me and senior care staff are
always on hand to discuss how my sister is doing. All in all I find it a very reassuring atmosphere.
Reply from Mark Quarmby, Home Manager at Warde Aldam Nursing Home

What a lovely comment to receive, this fills our hearts with immense pride as we aim to deliver a professional service but always with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble for all our staff to assist one of our residents or their families. It really does make a difference when we receive this sort of praise and reassures us that we are doing our job correctly and to the best of our ability.

Since my Mum went into Willowcroft she has gone from strength to strength! From being a very frail, unwell lady she has now put over a stone on in weight and is in far better health.

She joins in all the daily activities, made new friends and is really happy.

The staff at Willowcroft are amazing!

They are all lovely and look after the residents with patience and understanding. We as a family now have peace of mind that Mum is being well looked after and she is happy. We wouldn't want her to be anywhere else!

Both of my parents have been at Bradbury Grange for over a year and I have been very pleased with the standard of the care provided.

All the staff, from the management to the cleaning staff and the nurses, have been exemplary in their kindness and patience with me and my parents, and when visiting

I am always made to feel welcome. The staff, although sometimes extremely busy, are always caring and responsive to Mum and Dad's needs. If a problem ever occurs with my parents the staff are always quick to let me know.

The home always seems clean and there are activities and entertainment on offer to help keep my parents occupied. I have no hesitation in recommending Bradbury Grange very highly.

MHA Handsworth, in my father's words, is the very best care home. He particularly likes the food, friendly/ caring staff, lots of smiles and the homely atmosphere.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum and Dad moved to Montpellier for two weeks respite a year and a half ago. We quickly realised it was the best and safest place to be. Dad was terminally ill; mum has dementia and we were exhausted trying to look after them at home. Dad passed away peacefully with the upmost care, compassion and
respect. He was loved and cared for. Mum is cared for, respected and encouraged to live her best. There are activities she can join in with if she wants to. The spiritual care and support is wonderful, it's very much appreciated. The friendliness of the staff and their support of one another helps create a family atmosphere. We are grateful to have found such a special place for mum.
Montpellier is clean and spotless too which is wonderful.

My sister has been in Mapplewell Manor for more than a year. She seems to be entirely content with the facilities and the care provided. She enjoys the meals and has a good appetite. She does not participate much in the activities offered but I think this is due to her dementia. She is certainly much
better and safer than when she was living alone and looking after herself.

Glen Rosa

from S P (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad settled in surprisingly quickly at Glen Rosa which came as a huge relief to the family as he was always adamant he would not go into residential care.
He's been a resident for almost 3 years now and we've never looked back.
The staff retention is excellent. Most of the staff have been there many
years and they have built up a very good rapport with Dad who enjoys the banter and attention.
Dad can, on occasions, be a little tetchy if he's not feeling 100% but the staff have got to know him so well that they know exactly what to do in those situations, which is very reassuring.
The staff and management are all very approachable, professional and totally "on the ball".
The home is spotless and the en-suite bedrooms are of a high standard.
Meals are made from scratch. There is a good choice, including a vegetarian option and it all looks very appetising.
There's always something going on in terms of activities and various groups visiting to entertain the residents.
Highly recommended!

Oak Manor Care Home

from John P (Son of Resident) published on 18 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
A year ago my elderly mother was in a private flat and unable to cope, due to lack of mobility, severe hearing loss and mental decline. My sister and I visited several care homes in the area, and noticed how much more engaged with residents the staff at Oak Manor seemed compared to the others. That
first impression is reinforced on every visit. The staff all seem to enjoy their work and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are incredibly kind and patient with my mother, who can often be moody and difficult, and always have time to chat with me. Oak Manor is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Her room is a good size and the ensuite bathroom is always immaculately clean. One of many examples of staff going the extra mile happened on Christmas Day 2024. I'd left it too late to book a restaurant for lunch, so staff carried a dining table and chairs into the room, and served up a 3-course traditional Christmas dinner complete with table decorations! Oak Manor are a class act.

My mum has been a resident since January 2023 and seems to be settled and happy at Handsworth and will often comment on how good the staff are. The only grumbles she has, occasionally, are about the food. However, she particularly enjoys the jacket potatoes which, apparently, are better than the ones
my dad used to make at home!

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We're really pleased to hear that your mum feels settled and happy here at Handsworth, and it's lovely to know she speaks so highly of the staff. We'll make sure to pass those comments on to the team, as it will mean a lot to them.It gives us a different perspective having feedback from families, as you have a history and relationship that can sometimes bring out different thoughts than those your mum shares with us. We do regularly ask her about her meal preferences, but we'll continue to check in and take on board anything she raises with you as well. It's wonderful to know that the jacket potatoes are a particular favourite - what a compliment that they've even overtaken your dad's. I understand that she doesn't take part in group activities, but it's good to hear she enjoys her one-to-one sessions with our activities coordinator, as well as the outside musical entertainment we host.

My brother has been in Handsworth Care home for over 5 years now and I have always felt that he has received excellent care. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the home and the staff at all levels are wonderful: caring, cheerful, helpful, very hard-working and very approachable - it is clearly
a well-run care home and it's the staff who make this home such a wonderful place.
The home itself is bright and airy and as I walked in today, there was a lovely display of photos from a residents trip, being put up on the wall ..so nice for the residents to look at and enjoy! I feel my brother is in the right place and it's perfect for him.
