Moorland House

from Richard W (Son of Resident) published on 1 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My Mum was admitted to MH in Feb and I visited from Australia in Feb and experienced her being in MH for just under 1 week, as she was in hospital the other 2 weeks.
I think overall the care was really good. There have been some exceptions:
1. Slow response to some requests for help. I understand
this can happen though.
2. One carer Mum said was rough and caused bruising. I could establish the name of this person but said she had not been seen since the incident by that person. Otherwise really happy. Cake and card on birthday was a nice touch. I feel she is in good hands.
Reply from Carly Theobald, Home Manager at Moorland HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're very pleased to hear that your overall feedback is that you feel your mum in good hands and that the team has made a positive impression, particularly with thoughtful touches like celebrating her birthday. Your mum was quite unwell when she first came to us but it's now great to see her feeling so much better, engaging, and receptive to care being offered.
At the same time, we take your concerns seriously. If you would be open to discussing this further, please do get in touch with us directly.
Thank you again for your comments and for trusting us with your mum's care.

Moorland House

from S S (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We needed urgent respite care for my father.
We were aware he had issues with his short term memory- but were not aware of the extent of his condition.
Moorland House responded very quickly to my enquiries and we were fortunate that they had a room free.
Carly and Shelley came to our house to meet
dad. They were very professional, understanding and reassuring.
Without exception, all the staff at Moorland House were professional, welcoming and so kind with dad and myself.
They were undergoing a major redecoration- so there was an organised chaos- but the place felt warm, welcoming and very homely.
Dad struggled with settling in- but he was looked after with kindness, patience, respect and understanding of his condition.
We were allowed to visit any time and our dog was welcomed in too.
There is always something going. Attention to the needs of residents is excellent.
What could have been a very traumatic experience has been made so much easier because of the care from Moorland House.
Reply from Carly Theobald, Home Manager at Moorland HouseThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how challenging the transition can be, and we're so pleased we could support both you and your dad during this time. The whole team will really appreciate your kind words. Providing compassionate, respectful care is at the heart of everything we do, so it means a great deal to hear this reflected in your experience. We're also grateful for your patience during our refurbishment and delighted that Moorland House still felt warm and welcoming. It's lovely to know your dad has been supported as he settled in, and that you've felt able to visit freely - even with your dog. Thank you again for your trust and support.

I feel so lucky & incredibly grateful that my Dad is at Berwick Grange. The staff are warm & friendly to residents. The manager has always been available for a chat when needed.
The residents are treated with dignity & respect & I particularly like that, (where appropriate) they are given choices.
The building & rooms are always spotlessly clean. The activities are plentiful with local trips & the Garden & gardening activities are a real bonus!

My mother has been a resident in Glen Rosa for 7 years now, and continues to be very well looked after by the excellent staff there. The staff really care about the residents, and I am repeatedly touched by the way they look after my mum. There are a lot of activities arranged, even in Kitwood which
is the dementia section of Glen Rosa). My mother even got up and danced at a recent music session! I would have no hesitation in recommending Glen Rosa to anyone looking for a good residentail home.

Moorland House

from Ian E (Cousin of Resident) published on 30 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
When I moved my cousin to Moorland House over 2 years ago her first comment opening the door was "it's lovely and warm". She'd been very attached to her house for 50 years but couldn't cope even with 3 carer visits a day.

It is most important now that she regards Moorland House as her true home.

The rooms are excellent including high ceilings. The home is in a beautiful area and she is fortunate to have a fine view. There is a spacious garden too.

She needed a high level of care initially but as she adjusted and her health improved she has moved through medium to a low assessment which has helped with the fees. She'd become very confused running her own home and her mental health has improved in Moorland House. She feels very well looked after and is happy and articulate.

The home is well organised and the care staff (day and night) very responsive. Recent redecoration and improvements show management really listen to the residents and help to maintain overall quality.

Reply from Carly Theobald, Home Manager at Moorland HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of Moorland House. It's especially encouraging to hear that your cousin's health and wellbeing have improved during her time with us, and that she has been able to move to a lower level of care. Supporting residents to regain confidence and independence, wherever possible, is a key part of our approach, so your comments are very rewarding for the whole team. We're also pleased that you've noticed the responsiveness and dedication of both our day and night staff, as well as the recent improvements to the home. Listening to residents and their families is incredibly important to us, and we are always looking for ways to enhance the environment and overall experience.

Today was the first time that I have visited my friend in your care home and I was very impressed with the home and the staff. The home was very clean and looked a really nice environment to be in. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and all appeared to be so happy in their jobs.

Dad has been looked after very well and didn't want to come home after his stay had finished.
Reply from Cecilia Adamek, Home Manager at Oak Manor Care HomeWe are so pleased to hear that your dad enjoyed his respite stay with us at Oak Manor. It was lovely to see him engaging in activities and taking part in the day-to-day life of the home, which always brings great joy to our team. I remember that he was taking his time getting ready to go home, which really reflected how comfortable and settled he felt during his stay. Thank you for trusting us with your dad's care. It was a pleasure to support him, and we wish you both all the very best.

Mum moved in the middle of the month and has settled really well. Due to the warm welcome from staff who have ensured mum is well cared for in a kind and considerate and professional manner. Nothing is too much trouble for mum or visiting family. The home is kept clean and tidy, and a warm welcome for
residents and visitors.

Dad says that the staff provide good care and are friendly and helpful. The home appears to be clean and tidy with a good level of staffing. His only complaint (hence 4 stars rather than 5) is the food not being that great particularly anything involving pastry which he finds hard and difficult to cut
through. However he has put weight on since moving in so is definitely eating enough and appears healthy.

My 77year old husband has been living in Glen Rosa for 11 months. He settled in to his new home (upon discharge from Hospital), very well and easily due to the incredible support of all the staff.
Myself and our 2 daughters couldn't possibly think more highly of Glen Rosa. All family members who
visit are made to feel very welcome.

My Dad went into this care home for respite care. The staff were amazing with my Dad. Caring and attentive.
Lovely lounge area for residents to do activities or a meal with relatives. Food was nice, my Dad enjoyed the meals.
Management were also good and quite understanding and accomodating with

My husband spent two weeks in respite care at Glen Rosa in April, 2026.
He was treated with kindness and dignity, loved the food and activities. The staff went out of their way to make him comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. His room was warm and spotlessly clean.
As his wife and living
nearby, I was welcome to spend quality time with him. It meant a lot.

My Stepmum has been a resident in the Dementia section of Glen Rosa for nearly two years now, and settled well into what is a lovely , safe, warm and caring environment. As my sister and I both live overseas, we were concerned that we find the right home for our mum, as our visits are limited. There
is a high standard of cleanliness and catering and a good selection of activities and stimulation for the residents. The staff are all friendly and attentive and provide the care and support that we needed to be sure of for our mums wellbeing.

recommend Westbury Grange enough - this is a caring home where all the residents are content and happy.
