My grandmother was in the care home for 2 years and had the best time. She always commented in how nice the staff were, how good the food was and her room was always nice and clean. She loved her trips out on the minibusI would recommend this care home to anyone

My brother was reluctant to move from hospital anywhere but his home however the staff at Drummohr are welcoming and friendly. What's more they are consistent. No agency workers and this makes a big difference. The room he has is small but all he'd really need is room for a second chair as visitors
have to sit on his bed. He likes to stay in his room at the moment. The food has tempted him to eat more and is varied. The activities he is yet to take part in, but thankfully shows an interest. I looked at so many places and it is a huge relief to have him settled and thriving in a warm, safe, friendly place.

Although my father took time to settle, the staff were/are super in helping my dad and us as a family to adjust to our altered arrangements. It is reassuring to know that my dad is well looked after. The nursing support gives us extra confidence. My dad is always up, out of bed, clean and dressed. We
like to get Dad out his room, in his wheelchair, and it's good we can use the quiet lounge and other areas for our family chats.

All staff are very welcoming & approachable. If our family have an issue it is resolved fairly quickly. The food is excellent from what I see & what my father in law tells me. Down side I feel the bedrooms & bathrooms need updated. Much brighter paint on walls & new bathroom facilities, they are looking
very old & tired. Also safety guards for the sides of the toilet that can lift up or down if needed for safety of client & to feel secure when sitting on the toilet.
I have rated activities as don't know . I haven't myself seen much going on in the home , but feel alot more stimulation for the clients could be improved upon. ie singsongs, story telling reminiscing, games for fun but would also help phyisically
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Tranent Care HomeThank you for highlighting areas you feel we can improve on in Tranent Care Home. We acknowledge your concerns regarding the bedrooms and bathrooms and will update residents and their families as upgrades are planned. Any repairs needing to be undertaken in the meantime are addressed as they are identified by our colleagues. If visitors to the home identify areas of concern, we are very appreciative if these are highlighted so we can take action to address them. We want our residents to feel comfortable and at home while they are staying with us and are happy to decorate their bedrooms to their wishes. It is important to us that residents feel at home and have input into the environment they are living in. Residents’ needs are assessed on an ongoing basis, and any equipment identified as being needed for safety and comfort are purchased. Once again, we would encourage relatives and friends to speak with colleagues if they have any concerns. Resident safety and comfort are our priority. Activities are on offer 7 days a week in the home. Each resident is given an activity planner at the start of each month so they know what is happening in the home each day. There is also a copy on the noticeboard in each community. Our colleagues will be more than happy to provide a copy of the planner to friends and relatives if requested. All residents have a care plan in place detailing the types of activities they enjoy participating in and are encouraged to do so regularly. We are always open to suggestions and ideas for new activities that our residents may enjoy.

Warm welcoming staff who treat residents and family members as if they are one of their own. Facilities are very good and always clean albeit some updating of fixtures and fittings would really make it stand out.
Meals are second to none and I know Dad looks forward to these each day especially as
we look on enviously!
Location of home, and ample parking for visitors is perfect, and makes Dad still feel part of the local community.

The care shown to my mother in the nearly 2 years she stayed there was amazing. During that time she had a major illness and arrived back from hospital unable to sit or stand by herself or feed herself. With the support of the staff she is now able to do all these things again. Staff are friendly and
approachable, went out of their way to help and support me managing things from 200 miles away and cared for and spoke to mum with affection.

Insufficient food and drink due to sleeping at meal times. Few activities for totally deaf. Carers using mobile phones at work. No hairdresser for months.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Drummohr Care HomeThank you for sharing your concerns. We take all feedback seriously and have taken steps to support improvement, including meeting with staff to reinforce expectations and reviewing our activity programme to better meet individual needs, including those with sensory impairments. We are also ensuring residents who miss mealtimes are still offered appropriate food and drink, and regular hairdressing services are being reinstated.

My dad moved in to Drummohr care home at the beginning of April. The kindness, care and support shown to my dad (and to our whole family), from the outset has been incredible, and far beyond my expectations. The staff supported me with the transition of settling my dad in to Drummohr, and now every
time I come in to see my dad, I am greeted with open arms and smiles, and I feel as if I belong to a special caring community. It has been an absolute joy to meet so many caring and kind individuals (staff members). I know my dad is in safe hands. My dad loves the staff, and it is lovely to see him smiling and talking to staff as if he has known them all his life. Whether I call to speak to a member of staff, or I am talking to someone face to face, nothing is too much trouble. They always follow up on what they say they will do. My dad is safe; he is being cared for; and he is happy. I am grateful to everyone at Drummohr for looking after my dad as if he was a part of their own family.

Overall good in how the care home is run and how my mother is treated. Staff show a good level of training and dealing with residents. Staff are very approachable and nothing seems to be too much of a problem for them.

A Truly Exceptional Place. I can't speak highly enough of the care and compassion shown by the team at Drummohr Nursing Home. From the moment we first walked through the doors, it was clear this wasn't just a care facility-it was a warm, welcoming home.
The staff go above and beyond in every way,
treating residents with dignity, patience, and genuine kindness. It gave our family such peace of mind to know our loved one was not just being looked after, but truly cared for.
The communication from the team has been excellent, and they always take the time to keep us updated and involved. The home itself is clean, bright, and thoughtfully run, with a real sense of community and respect.
We're incredibly grateful for the dedication and professionalism of everyone at Drummohr. Thank you for making such a positive difference in all of our life.

My mum always seems happy enough. It is good that we can use the quiet room when visiting as we often take our grandchildren to visit their Great Granny so gives us more space. I have no problems with the care home apart from feeling that they don't go on enough trips even though there is a Care Home
Bus. I also feel that mum doesn't get outside enough although smokers do! I also feel that the people on the ground floor seem to be shown more on social media so it looks like they have more activities.
