All the staff have been nice, helpful and always have time for a little chat. The top floor corner is far too small. Why not open mid-corridor door at pool table so residents can go for a wander up and down the corridor. Food basic, cheap bread for sandwiches. Cakes are nice.

Would like to express my gratitude to all the staff within High Gate Care home , my husband Frank has been a resident in the care home for over 3 years.
And has always received excellent care and attention 24 hours a day .
Each member of care staff go out of their way to ensure Frank is comfortable
and takes part in all the activities he is able to do .
The Care home do a wonderful job in keeping him safe and taking Frank out on some day trips , which is important for his well being .
I feel so comfortable he us in good hands .
I would also like to say thanks for his Birthday celebrations and setting up the room recently to allow me and my sisters to Celebrate our recent Golden Wedding Anniversary. Again so appreciated for the flowers and beautiful cards
I visit Frank 3 to 4 times a week.and am always greeted by all the staff and made very welcome , nothing Is a problem even for Frank' s cousins and my family who visit regularly.
Thank you .

Hatton Lea Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our family experience of Hatton Lea was excellent. My mother was cared for with dignity , respect and compassion. All of the staff - admin , domestic , nursing staff and all others involved in mums care were welcoming and even when doing such a difficult job , were always smiling and pleasant. The
standard of care was exceptional by staff who really do care. Staff provided help and guidance where needed. The unit my mums was resident in was well equipped and very nicely decorated which added to the feeling that this was a home from home for the residents there. There were also activities regularly and although mum was unable to participate it was certainly a good idea for the residents able to do so. As a family we were very happy with the care mum had at Hatton Lea and would be happy to recommend.
Sincere thanks to all the staff for making mums final time comfortable.

Very warm welcome from staff on arrival. Every staff member came and said hello. My mother was offered a cuppa, and off she went and didn't look back. The ward sister checked her needs, and we then went on hols. We phoned 2-3 times and got an immediate rapport on my mam from whoever answered the phone.
Food looked good, also cakes!! Rooms and hallways were spotless. Staff were also checking residents.

The Village Care Home

Generally the home is good, and the new management team have made clear progress with further improvements planned. However, I feel the use of agency staff should be reduced so residents can build stronger relationships with consistent carers. Communication is another area needing attention: updates
often come late or only when we visit, and we've received different explanations for the same issue (e.g. a large bruise). Phone calls can also be difficult due to language barriers, though I understand this is being addressed. I would also like to see more outings arranged, as my mum has Alzheimer's but can still enjoy trips to cafés, parks, and community spaces. While many staff are kind, at times care staff appear disengaged, which can affect the atmosphere. Overall, progress is being made, but consistency, clearer communication, and more activities outside the home would really enhance the quality of life for residents.

We were quite hesitant regarding our relative having to get cared for outside of the family but since day one coming into the premises and meeting the staff and some of the residents we were overjoyed by the atmosphere, the attention the staff gave each person and the cleanliness of the whole place.

My mum came into The Village Care Home on Christmas Eve 2024. She settled in very well in Ballock Unit. Recently something has happened to her in the unit that had her scared. The management and staff have been great and she got moved to Carbrain Unit recently. The staff always keep me up to date with
any changes or concerns they have about mum. We have been delighted with the care that mum has received.

I wish to thank the staff of Hazlebank who cared for my mum up to her passing away on the 4th August 2025. For the short time she spent there it was evident she was cared for in a kind and compassionate manner. It is so comforting to know. I would thoroughly recommend this care home to family and friends
making the decision to place their family in care.

My Mum stayed here whilst I went on holiday. We were dubious how this would be but the staff are wonderful. She said the food was great and she met some other residents, one of whom she became quite friendly with. Mums room was always clean and tidy as was she. The rest of the home is also very well
kept. The weather was good so Mum was able to spend time in the garden. Overall our experience was very good and I would recommend this home.
