I was made to feel at home the moment I entered the building. The staff were friendly and welcoming. MY needs were catered for by all the staff.
My occupational therapists were of an extremely high calibre. I can honestly say that I'd want my mother to spend her days here, and if I had a choice I would too.

Now I'm leaving I feel a great sorrow as I will miss everyone and that is testament to the high quality of care.

The home is managed by a team who really care about the residents. They work hard to make it a happy and enjoyable place to live. They are always ready to listen and take time to speak to residents.

The staff at this care home are so helpful and friendly. I have an extremely difficult relationship with my mum who is a resident here but the staff were able to answer all my questions. I've only visited twice as my mother tried to attack me but staff handled the situation professionally. There's always activities of some kind going on so seems there's plenty to do. Would highly recommend this home for your loved ones and don't worry my mum never leaves her room so you can socialise with normal human beings and not a monster. My deepest sympathy to any staff member that is in charge of my mum

All staff at Capwell Grange and Hatley House made my father welcome from day 1. Hatley House has a homely atmosphere, all staff there have been exceptional in getting to know my father, his condition & needs resulting in person centred care, their communication with him and myself has been clear and transparent. All staff in Hatley House treat my father with kindness, respect and dignity. I can't thank everyone enough, for the care and attention my father receives on a daily basis. I can rest assured knowing my father is in the best place for his needs.

Review of Blakelands Lodge from Simon J (Nephew of Resident) published on 13 July 2026 Submitted via Website

The care and dedication given to the residents of Blakeland's lodge is second to none.
My Uncle has been a resident for almost a year and i feel that the staff and management always go above and beyond.
They have really helped with the passing of my uncle's partner, who unfortunately passed away just after moving into the home.
the team are really friendly and always helpful ensuring that my uncles' needs are met.

I would highly recommend, leaps and bounds above most other homes that i have visited, more like a country hotel rather than a care establishment.

Review of Capwell Grange Care Home from Anne M (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother spent three months in the care of Capwell Grange and I cannot speak highly enough of the team who looked after her. From the moment she arrived, the carers were consistently friendly, caring and attentive, creating an environment where she felt safe, valued and genuinely at ease.
During her stay, Mum underwent physiotherapy following a fall, and the support she received from the physio team was exceptional. Their approach was structured, detailed and thoughtfully paced, building her strength and confidence step by step.

As a family, we are deeply grateful for the care, compassion and dedication shown throughout her time there. The team were so approachable and guided us on aspects of mums care. Knowing she was surrounded by people who truly cared brought us great comfort. Mum has fond memories of the quizzes, games and socials, and values so much the friendships that developed there. She was going home but sad to say goodbye to the staff, who became friends.

Mum thoroughly enjoyed her respite stay at Blakelands and found the amenities and activities to be very enjoyable whilst making some new friends with full time residents. She was also impressed with the friendly and professional staff at Blakelands. My wife and I were able to relax and enjoy our holiday safe in the knowledge that Mum was in safe hands and being looked after.

The manager has a caring attitude and is very understanding and always is available should you need to speak to them. Also the under manager also. And all the staff are helpful and willing to help you if needed. This home from home is excellent. I am so pleased to have my husband Richard here, after a not very pleasant experience previously, it was hard having to be apart after 65 years of marriage. But I am at peace now knowing he is in a lovely home being cared for with care and dignity. Many thanks to you all.

Review of Thorn Springs from C B (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 12 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Thorn Springs is a very special home. Firstly the care and attention given to residents is outstanding, the Managers and the amazing Care Team work so hard to ensure everyone is happy and well looked after. Thorn Springs has such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. My husband and myself visit his Mum regularly and we are so impressed with the level of first class care. My Mum in Law has settled in well and has made many lovely friends. It's joyous to hear the laughter and see the residents having fun and also just chilling together telling stories and sharing memories.
There is always something to do and the entertainments Team with the daily activities are great!

Thank you Thorn Springs for all you do and we highly recommend you!

My partner is currently a resident on a 28 day delirium pathway. He will be returning home. I cannot praise enough the support, care, compassion and complete friendliness of the team in Milliner unit. The staff are amazing, work tirelessly to ensure the residents needs are met. It really feels like a family. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the lounge is always full of people relaxing and socialising. We as a family have been welcomed and completely informed and looked after when visiting. Thank you all for everything

Review of Thorn Springs from K C (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother came into Thorn Springs for respite care after a fall in November for a month. We had looked around a few homes to see which would be suitable for someone who is very independent and sociable. Thorn Springs was perfect as it is very welcoming and homely with lots of activities everyday. There are a lovely group of ladies who mum made good friends with and is now a permanent resident, as physically she couldn't cope at her own home. The carers are all kind and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. My mums mental health has vastly improved since moving in as she has something to do everyday, if she wants to. A gp comes in every week, aswell as a chiropadist/ optician and hairdresser.

I would recommend Thorn Springs in a second as it has help improve everyone's life balance making life a lot easier and happier for everyone.

Review of Thorn Springs from Michael C (Husband of Resident) published on 24 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife has Alzheimers' and became a permanent resident at Thorn Springs last year. It was a very difficult decision to place her in a care home, but I am so pleased that I chose Thorn Springs.
The environment of the home is superb, it is spacious and well equipped. The rooms and the communal areas are very comfortable. The food is good too. There is excellent planning of regular activities, including visits outside the home.
Above all the staff are fantastic - I cannot praise them enough. They are caring and supportive, both for residents and for families. Supporting someone with Alzheimers' can be very challenging, but my wife has always been cared for respectfully and kindly. Their concern has been to understand my wife, her difficulties, and how best to care for her.

I am a regular visitor, and I have seen that over the time she has been at the home, my wife has become settled and content. This is entirely down to the support the carers have given

My mother has called Thorn Springs home for over 2 years now and in all that time we have been very impressed with the level of support and care she has received.

The team of staff involved in running the home are always friendly when I pop in and are familiar with how my mother has been. More importantly, my mother says the staff are lovely and very kind which our family very much appreciate.

Review of Thorn Springs from Lois E (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Mum moved to Thorn Springs just over a year ago, a somewhat difficult decision as she had lived in her home for over 60 years. However, there has not been a single day when we have regretted choosing Thorn Springs. The home is modern, well-equipped and clean and the staff deliver excellent care on a daily basis, despite the obvious pressures of their roles. Mum has always been treated with kindness and respect and staff have taken the trouble to get to know her, and us as her family. I have always been greeted warmly when visiting.
The management team is strong and really dedicated to caring about residents' welfare, which is reflected throughout all levels of staff. They are always open to suggestions for improvements, for example, we have seen a vast improvement in the quality of the meals after the opinions of all stakeholders groups were sought.

There is also a wide variety of activities on offer, although these are by no means compulsory. Thank you for all you do
