The Rowans Care Home

Staff changes a bit unsettling, have felt that both mum and I have not always been supported by the new staff. Room always clean and welcoming. Mum does not join in activities unless persuaded. Staff that know mum always kind and patient have listened to my concerns and action has been taken regarding
her mental health. Mum content with things a.t.m.

My brother and I have cared for our father for almost 12 years. In March 2025 because of his dementia and recent missing episodes he was too vulnerable to live independently. Neither my brother nor I could accommodate him so we placed him into residential care at The Rowans. This has taken a great amount
of anxiety and stress from us. He has never complained to us about his care here and this is a great relief. We know he has been well cared for and treated with dignity. For this he and us thank all the staff.

I visit The Rowans with my therapy dog and spend time with some of the residents. The staff work extreamly hard and are very caring. The home is kept lovely and clean, the meals are lovely with a choice given to the residents. Over the year I have visited quite few home and The Rowans is one of the
best. Residents all seem happy and content and staff seems to know all their names and treat them with respect.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Overall, Woodthorpe Lodge is a really lovely place to live. It is very clean and modern, and from what I have seen, the food is very good, and most of the staff are very friendly and caring. The only problem I have is the lack of TV channels in residents' rooms and the lack of Activities. Which could
lead to some residents getting bored.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Woodthorpe LodgeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to make improvements where required. We are grateful for your kind comments about our cleanliness, modern environment, food quality and, most importantly, our caring team. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the TV channels and activities provision. Providing meaningful engagement and ensuring residents feel stimulated and fulfilled is extremely important to us. We are pleased to share that we have recently appointed a new Activities Coordinator and now have two dedicated activity team members working alongside each other within the home. This allows us to offer a broader range of activities and increased opportunities tailored to individual interests and preferences. If you would like to discuss any suggestions further, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the staff at Magna for the care and support they provide to my mum. The team are always approachable and responsive to any questions or concerns raised by our family.
Communication is open and respectful, which gives me reassurance and confidence in
her care.
Staff interact with Mum in such a gentle and compassionate way. They take the time to engage her, even if only for brief moments due to her communication needs and it is lovely to see that they can still make her smile. These small but meaningful interactions make a real difference to her wellbeing to us as a family and me as her daughter.
I truly appreciate all the kindness, patience and hard work shown every day in looking after my mum. Thank you for everything you do Magna staff.
