My dad has been in the care home for the last 4 weeks after a fall, we were hesitant about him going into care but need not have been. The staff are caring & welcoming, his room is clean & homely & warm, nothing is too much trouble he's really settled in. The staff are friendly I never have to worry
about leaving him, he's happy & content and I couldn't ask for anything more. It was a good choice for anyone when a family member is unable to care for themself. I would thoroughly recommend Colton Lodges.

Since Christmas I feel that the care given by the staff has deteriorated. My mother is much more settled and happier when certain (regular) staff are working than staff we don't see as often. I haven't seen any interaction between staff and residents since Christmas. I know I'm not there all the time
but I visit my mother regularly . The regular staff my mother reacts with a smile whereas I've noticed the ones she's not used to she may shout and swear at them
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Lydgate LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We appreciate you raising these matters and understand how important consistency and quality of care are for your mother's wellbeing. We are sorry to hear that you feel the standard of care has deteriorated since Christmas. Please be assured that the care and comfort of all residents remain our highest priority. We will contact you to discuss this further.

when mum first arrived she was very confused but soon settled in with care and support from the staff team, who listened to our concerns about how much mum's care had changed since August when she was fully independent.
Every member of staff when have ancountered is friendly, cheerful, respectful and
kind. We were worried about mum going into care but the care we have received as a family not just mum has been better than we could have hoped.
Mum can no longer vocalise but we can see by her body language she is relaxed and calm which is a great support.
I am kept aware of any changes in mums health and I feel very confident of the care given to mum is the best she could have as she reaches the end of her life journey.
Words cannot express how thankful we are to your fantastic team. I'm not good at this sort of thing but hope you understand how knowing mum is being looked after by such a great team helps us cope with the changes mum is going through.
Thank you all xx

Before dad arrived he was visited in his rehab centre to assess his needs and preferences. He was transported to Colton Lodge with the help of the manager in charge.
Since arriving on the 4th of December dad's care has been second to none. It's lovely to see him clean, cared for and stimulated in a
happy environment. The staff are always able to help with dad's needs. His room is clean and the home has a hotel feel all been on one floor.
The only negative would be the extras you have to pay for as in toiletries which we didn't
expect.

Newfield Lodge

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My dad has been a resident for nearly two years now and his overall care has been good. The entertainment is good, the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Most staff are lovely, but there are a few I question have the right training and understanding of dementia. We have had a few meeting due to
my dad's care needs not been met but these have always been resolved. My concern atm the lack of staff which is making the units un safe and wearing the staff down. This isn't helped by them having no manager for a month and one not starting for another month. I feel if they up staffing levels and get some management guidance, this home could be one of the best.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Newfield LodgeDear Cheryl,
Thank you for your concerns raised in the care home review. I am pleased to announce the new Manager starts this month and during the interim we have had Management support 5 days per week to ensure the care staff team are supported in their roles. We do monitor staffing daily and can assure you that the home is actually above minimum staffing requirements to ensure the safe delivery of care is given to our residents. We take all concerns seriously and will review this.

This home is out of this world, when looking for a home for my Dad, as soon as I walked in, I was blown away and know this was where I wanted my dad to live. He has instantly settled in and every time we visit he seems relaxed, which is really heartwarming to our family. The staff are all attentive
and willing to help in any way. My dad was missing out on social stimulation and was very lonely before his move, since he moved in December to Hepworth it's so lovely to see a smile back on his face x

Mum can be quite stubborn, but the staff have been great with her, encouraging her out of her room to join in, and we've been allowed to decorate mum's room with things that are important to her, which has helped her settle in. I'd like to see the staff be a bit firmer with mum, as she's actually quite
shy and her default is to say 'no', when it comes to activities but with encouragement, she'll get involved, which I've seen with Daniella.

There was an occasion where transport wasn't booked for mum's hospital appointment, which was disappointing (though the hospital were able to resolve it.)

Overall, I feel confident that mum's needs are being met, and she's been well looked after.

Choosing Greenacres for Mum was a good decision. Mum is content and treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Her complex health needs have been managed appropriately with medical input when needed. The amazing staff have been kind and supportive, both to Mum and to me throughout a stressful transition.
Staffing
pressures are becoming more noticeable and can often affect how promptly residents' needs are met; however, any personal concerns I have raised have always been listened to and addressed professionally by the management team.
I would like to thank the entire Greenacres team for their care, commitment and ongoing support.

Overall the standard is good.
Misplaced clothing is a concern.
Generally the staff are very good.
Christmas Day and Christmas activities were beautiful.
Due to shortage of staff, stimulation of residents is suffering.
However the entertainment is good.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Rievaulx House Care CentreDear Robert,
Thank you for your review and feedback. We'd like to share a few updates with you: we now have a Lost and Found rail that is displayed monthly for families and residents to review, with dates clearly posted at the entrance. To ensure the highest standard of care, our staffing levels are calculated using a dependency tool so we can always maintain safe and appropriate support. In addition, we've recently introduced a Wellbeing Champion alongside our Wellbeing Coordinators, ensuring each community has someone dedicated every day to promoting happiness, engagement, and overall wellbeing for our residents.

Newfield Lodge

Moving my father to Newfield Lodge was the best decision we have ever made, he was already in another care home at the time so we were nervous to disrupt him, but from the first day there it was obvious to see that Dad was so much happier. The building, the rooms and all facilities are all maintained
to a very high standard with a really welcoming atmosphere. The staff there are truly amazing too, they all have a genuine caring and loving attitude and it really does shine through for all to see.
Dad is now 94 and I can rest assured that he is being taken care of to the highest possible standard.
Thank you to everyone at Newfield Lodge.
Christine
