I always feel relaxed and welcome when i go to visit my aunt in this care home. The staff are always communicating and catering for the residents individual needs and seem to know the families well and always welcome you with a smile and say hello. They are always having activities etc to get not only
the residents involved but their families too. Any suggestions etc are always welcomed and appreciated. Thank you to the manager and wonderful staff for their hard work and dedication!

I think this is brilliant care home. It is warm, and there is a friendly, welcoming and caring atmosphere throughout. The manger is always very welcoming when you first go in and takes the time to speak to everyone. Her staff team are always on the go but their also attentive, kind and caring towards
all the residents. The care home is always trying to get families etc involved and always open to suggestions and ideas. You can really tell this is more than just a job to the staff and the genuinely care about the residents which I think is the most important thing. Thank you to the manager and your wonderful staff team for the amazing job you all do!!!!

What can I say about Castle View. From the lady in admin who goes out of her way to help and explain anything to m that I don't understand. To the staff, nurses, care workers, cleaners, male and female... they are great.
I can approach them if I have a problem, and they keep me well informed in what
is happening with my husband's care. He has a lovely room which is always kept clean with bed linen changed daily.
Castle View is a warm and friendly place.

I have had a very good experience from Castle View Care Home. Mum is very happy and nothing is a problem for the staff, only problem is two pairs of slippers have gone missing these items have been labeled I inderstand this is a big task. The laundry with all the residents and a small problem for us
as long as Mum is happy. Castle View Care Home is fab.

After looking at other care homes Mavisbank was the one that my sister and I decided this one that we wanted dad to be in. From the moment we were introduced to the Manager then the Deputy Manager gave us a tour of the home. Staff and residents are friendly and dad has settled in well and its peace
of mind for the family that he is well looked after and at 96 years young he is keeping the staff on their toes. Dad enjoyed his day out, a credit to all the staff.

What a great time my dad had today in Mavisbank. Local singer in today for residents. Dad loves to dance and hardly sat down today apart from drinking his tea. Thanks to all the team for organising this. Hopefully there will be more of this to come

My brother has been a resident in Castle View since 2020. He has received wonderful care and support throughout. the staff have gone out of their way to get to know him and his likes/dislikes. Contact with family to report any concerns they may have about his health is always prompt and detailed. He
has established great relationships with all the carers that have contact with him. Other staff i.e. admin, housekeeping and maintenance, are also attentive and caring.

On looking at MB as an option for my mother, I was very impressed with the enthusiasm & genuine interest shown in the residents' care. This clearly filters down to the nurses, carers & auxiliary staff. They know everyone's name & always stop & talk to them; there's lots of laughter & a very homely atmosphere.
As a relative, I feel welcomed, & comfortable when I have questions or concerns.
I moved mum to MB after 2 years in a different care home. I now know she is well taken care of has settled well despite her dementia. Faced with a sad & difficult situation my parents and I definitely feel my burden has been eased by the caring and compassionate staff here.

Mugdock House Care Home

from Alison K (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum moved into Mugdock House in August 2024 and was very warmly welcomed by management and staff at all levels. She had a lovely garden room which was very well maintained and spotlessly clean, as were all areas of the home. Staff made time to get to know her and she regularly commented on how nice
everyone was, taking time for chats and a laugh. She was encouraged to participate in all activities by the wellbeing team and especially enjoyed her 100th birthday party in October! I was a regular visitor and was always made to feel welcome. Staff had a very good understanding of working with elderly people with dementia and there was always a friendly, caring ethos throughout the home.
Sadly my mum passed away in January, the end of life care she received was excellent and I greatly appreciated the kind support from staff. I was concerned I would always regret having to move my mum into a care home, however I needn't have worried, Mugdock House proved to be a perfect choice.

We have an ongoing issue with laundry. Wrong clothes put in room - clothes not put away properly.
The condition of the window frames in the lounge and bedrooms is shocking. Window frames need to be replaced urgently.
Also, residents' en-suite bathrooms are freezing - heating needs addressing.

My mother-in-law has been a resident of Mugdock House for almost four years and her care has always been outstanding. Recently there has been even more opportunities for outings and this has been appreciated. She is always looking her best when we visit and the staff generally catch me before I get
to her room to update me about her current wellbeing and mood.
The leaders, care givers and all staff should be proud of the difference that they make on a daily basis. Very personable, approachable and kind. Always well informed about my mother-in-law when we call as well. Many thanks.
