Overall Experience

My mum experienced seven different care home settings throughout her dementia journey, and Arbour Court was a cut above the rest. The care and support she received were excellent, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I was always greeted with a friendly smile, and I felt complete peace of mind knowing

that when I left after visiting, Mum was in very safe hands.
Arbour Court is a warm and welcoming place. Mum has sadly passed away now, but I can't thank Lisa and the rest of the team enough for the outstanding work they do.

Overall Experience

It is very early day (only in residence for 4 days so far) and John has not settled in very happily. He wants to be at home and feels no restraint against shouting about his plight. It has been very stressful visiting him but I have tried to be calm but firm. I would welcome more advice/support from

the care/nursing/staff on how to deal with his rage and agression. They will be much more experienced than I am and could help me to learn what to do. But I - and he - will soldier on and I am confident that in such a good environment things will get better.

Overall Experience

My mom was in here for two weeks as we needed emergency care, the world was promised when I came to visit but none was given when we agreed to come and stay. We were told that a certain room was available and then when we turned up it was no longer which seems strange considering it was only couple

of days before we turned up. The cost also changed when we got there and suddenly become more expensive. The care that we received in the first week was great but then one of the caring nurses Nancy went on holiday and it all changed. My mom was left unattended and sadly had a fall which resulted in a trip to hospital which for a dementia patient is confusing and extremely traumatic. I wish I could add the pictures of the mess that the fall had caused. We stipulated that my mom had to be on a low fat diet and the food that was given was far from low fat. Clothes went missing as well as her cushion from her wheelchair, this was eventually found a week after she had left. Run out of space!!

Overall Experience

My mum unexpectedly had to go into a care home and was transferred to one under a D2A. With no experience of care homes, I thought it was "normal" but was devastated every time I visited and left her there. I decided to look elsewhere and came across Arbour Court. From my first visit, I was

blown away. Every single staff member is fantastic, and it is more like a hotel than a care home. I visited mum multiple times daily, and loved just being there, and she was really flourishing in the environment too. The activities are amazing and the staff are so attentive and thoughtful, I could not have asked for more. Unfortunately my mum passed away soon after moving to Arbour Court following a short illness (which the nurses picked up on immediately), and I am deeply regretful that my mum did not get to stay longer here. If you are looking for a nursing home for your loved one, I couldn't recommend Arbour Court enough - I would have moved in myself!

Overall Experience

During our initial visit to Arbour Court with the General manager we were not only impressed with the home but also the advice & support we received to help us through what had been an extremely difficult period in trying to find a suitable home for Mum. It was by far the best home we had visited -

it is a lovely place with a very 'homely' feel.
Mum has been there for 3 weeks now & a special effort had been made to accomodate her in a room with a garden view with very calming decoration in the room. Moving her in was seamless. The care she has received has been excellent & she is settling in well & showing and interest in the many activities they have.

Overall Experience

The entire staff at Arbour Court are, without exception, brilliant, caring, professional, always cheerful and above all compassionate. They treat my husband with respect at all times and ensure he still has his dignity. The general manager and finance manager have been nothing but helpful. Although

the fees are high, the home is good value for money because it gives the family peace of mind that our loved one is receiving the best of care. I cannot fault the home in any way. I would thoroughly recommend Arbour Court to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.

Overall Experience

When my wife needed end-of-life treatment, my daughter and I visited Arbour Court. We were so impressed! The building was bright and clean and the staff warm and friendly. When my wife moved in, her room was nicely decorated, with good lighting and little touches, like photo frames provided. During

all my visits over 5 weeks, I never saw residents treated with anything other than compassion and respect. My wife's team of carers were so caring and good-humoured, forming a lovely, even affectionate relationship with her and the family. A wonderful team of medical staff monitored her condition regularly and she received effective medication to control pain and distress. Her family and friends were also very well looked after; we could not have asked for better.

Overall Experience

Caring for my mum was an isolating experience - she looks well - she looks young - in shops & cafes, people had no time or patience for her & that experience isolated us both. Since Mum moved to Arbour Court, I no longer feel alone. I have 20/30 other people around me who understand and care! I became

isolated from friends & family, & now I feel we've all become part of an extended family. The caring environment has benefited us all. Allowing residents to live with their dementia - live in their world is commendable - thanks.

Overall Experience

My friend moved into Barchester Arbour Court Care Home just over two years ago and I have visited her most weeks since then. On every occasion, my friend has been very well cared for, well-presented, comfortable and as I would here for her.
Staff on every occasion have been friendly, helpful and supportive,

that includes all staff, those on reception, cleaners, nursing staff.

Overall Experience

Dad was a resident at Barchester Marple Dale Care Home for eighteen months and I have reflected carefully on his time there (management initially sent us this review to complete after he had only been there for one month which felt too soon to give an accurate assessment).
The home itself is very well

presented in a peaceful setting and there are activities for residents, including days out. The staff were generally good and some were excellent. I didn't have much contact with the manager but the deputy manager was defensive and unhelpful when an issue was raised about Dad's care. Food, whilst generally good, was at times poor - too much chicken nuggets and chips. Admin was very efficient and helpful.
This was a corporate-run care home and as such, it met all the required governance and care standards but probably lacked a more intimate and homely care environment that you might find in smaller care facilities.

Overall Experience

My dad was fast tracked from hospital, from the minute he arrived he has been treated with the upmost care and respect. I cannot thank all the staff for the kindness shown to him and also to me. Dad is poorly so will not see just how beautiful a place Barchester Marple Dale Care Home is. Outside everything

is maintained to a high standard, inside the lounge and bistro areas are decorated and furnished beautifully as are the corridors. I would not hesitate to recommend Marple Dale, it is 10/10 from me.

I just want to thank all the staff at Barchester Arbour Court Care Home. My husband has been there a long time now. When I go to visit him, the staff are all lovely, pleasant and I really feel they care for me as much as my husband. The home is beautiful and my husband is spotlessly clean even though

he's bedridden. Very high regards to this place.

Overall Experience

The constant care provided by Barchester Marple Dale Care Home for my mother has been exceptional. They have made her feel welcome whilst she transitioned from living a totally independent life to needing full-time care due to medical conditions.
The nursing staff have been fantastic with all her specialist

care she has required, ensuring the correct treatment and dressings have been carried out, getting her from bed-bound to being mobile again with the help of a walking frame.
My mother feels comfortable and has a good rapport with the majority of the care and management staff and has a smile on her face most of the time which tells me she is comfortable.

Overall Experience

My brother was admitted to this care home 5 weeks ago. The home is beautiful, that's why we chose it. However, the care in this place is awful. Some careers were fine but there were a few that were incompetent. The food is absolutely horrendous. We talked to residents who order out 4 times a week because

the food is so bad. My brother had a medical emergency and the nurses did nothing but stand at the bottom of his bed and watch. We had to ask them to do something to help him. The manager is absolutely appalling. We had a few issues and she refused to speak to us. My sister went down to speak to her and she hid in her office and sent her an email saying she was busy. I would not recommend this care home to anyone. They have no compassion for the vulnerable residents they are supposed to be looking after. They have been reported to CQC and the Council by my brother's social worker.

We do have some younger residents who enjoy eating fast food takeaway as their preference and were very happy to support them. We understand that your brothers needs are very complex and assisted to ensure he has the care needed including in an emergency. Sadly, due to the complexity of the care required, the decision was made they were no longer able to sustain the placement. I visited my friend with many doubts, having visited many care homes but my goodness, what a wonderful experience! My friend was settled and happy after only a couple of weeks. The environment was exceptional - clean, bright, fresh and well cared for. All the staff I met were true carers - wanting the

best for the residents. They were professional, friendly but most of all, caring. Nothing was too much trouble. All the questions of a new resident were answered and dealt with immediately. I came away happy that my friend had found a home from home - with the help she needs. Thank you.

I would like to thank all the management and staff for looking after my best friend, they are all caring and will do anything they can to make the residents feel at home and at ease. It is a lovely care home, very clean and the lounges are very pleasant to sit in, the residents' rooms are lovely, meals

are very nicely cooked and served with staff on hand to help others who need it.
Plenty of entertainment and gardens for them to sit out in the nice weather.
Would definitely recommend Barchester Arbour Court Care Home, one of the nicest homes I have visited.
