Care Homes Owned by Barchester Healthcare Ltd in Lancashire

My husband as been a resident at the care home for the last 3 months. I was quite worried when he moved there, but he seems to have settled in quite well which I'm very pleased about. The home is very homely and his room is comfortable. The staff are excellent with him, and very caring. The food is good, always a choice. I carn't thank the staff enough for the care they show him.

Management were pleasant welcoming & efficient. All staff polite friendly to visitors & cheerful. Almost without exception staff were friendly patient & understanding, & hard working. Their interaction with dementia patients in particular impressed me - polite, but/and not condescending, willing to listen. This was especially true of the two nurses with whom I came in contact; they were so good at avoiding any confrontation, always pleasant caring, & efficient & calm & kind.

I am so happy that we chose this setting for mum's care.

My wife Dorothy has been in Glenroyd as a dementia patient for almost one year. She is 90 & semi mobile and I as her husband, am very pleased with the care she is receiving. The setting is delightfully informal & very much down to earth

The only frustration I had was items going missing, but on a dementia unit it's inevitable and I just changed my expectations.

We have been really happy with the care my Dad has received in the few months he has been there. He has settled in well and feel the staff all know him well in a short space of time. The home feels very homely, a nice addition is the cafe for a change of scenery and we've enjoyed sitting in the garden with my Dad. All staff have made us feel very welcome and you can see the respect they have for all their residents. My Dad coming here has been hard for us all as a family as we live almost 2 hrs away and not able to visit as often as we would like. But we feel comfortable leaving him, as we know he is safe, settled and very well looked after. Since coming here I feel like ive gotten a little bit of my Dad back, which has meant everything to us all.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Glenroyd to any families looking for a home for their loved ones.

The team at Glenroyd have always been 5*. First in looking after my wife for 3 years in nursing care enabling her recovery to home, and now for my mother-in-law as a full time resident. The entertainment and activities for residents is exceptional. The photos and videos of events helps us to see our loved one's enjoying themselves even when we are not able to visit.

Laurely Bank has a lovely atmosphere and great staff. The staff make every effort to maker sure my mother is well looked after. Laurel Bank is a nice place to visit and I always enjoy my visits and interaction with the staff! Although its not an ideal situation for Mum being disabled the staff are great helping her to cope - of course its not perfect but in comparision to all the care home's in our area its the best by a mile!

A special mention for Aga and Karen who recently created a most marvellous 100th birthday party for my Mum and family.

Dovedale provides an environment and atmosphere that genuinely feels like "home" rather than "a home". The layout is thoughtful, with beautiful places to find quiet space and a change of scenery and garden space that is cared for and lovely to spend time in. The warmth and general atmosphere here is in no small part a result of putting together and leading an engaged resilient and long serving team of nurses, carers and staff who are directly employed. The use of agency and contract staff for cover is avoided and the vital nature of nurses and carers knowing the people they are looking after protected. Anyone who is experiencing this journey with a loved one will understand the relief that comes when the care they are receiving is good. In the Tesseyman suite at Dovedale it is exceptional and beyond any comparison. My Dad is the happiest and most settled I have seen him in a number of years. I hope that your care endures for My Dad and others and that those that need you find you.

I strongly recommend the Barchester Glenroyd Care Home to anyone looking for a genuinely personal, caring and sharing home either for themselves or a loved one. The rooms and building are all purpose built and designed around the needs of the residents. All are clean, well maintained, warm and welcoming. However, it is the staff that are the most important element of what makes the Glenroyd special. The staff are all positive, friendly and genuinely caring. Residents are truly treated as individuals, and time is taken to chat, to understand and even anticipate needs, and to help new residents become part of the wider community. Visitors are always welcome and feel able to stay for as long as they feel they need; and there is always a cup of tea and some cake on hand for them too. Moving a relative into care is never an easy thing to do, but the Glenroyd really has made it as good as it can be for my mother and I.

Since my wife went into Sherwood she has been well cared for. They provide her with care and dignity even though she is unaware. As a family we could not provide the support my wife needed at home, but Sherwood Court have stepped in and are looking after my wife in a supportive and caring manner.

She has improved with her mobility thankfully.

Sadly dad passed away in the home at the end of February but the care he received and the dignity with which he was treated was outstanding. We were able to spend his last days and nights with him as a family and what a comfort that was.

My mum has only been in a short space of time but, by goodness, do we see a difference in her! She so much more relaxed and alert and this is all down to the staff and the lovely, welcoming feeling you get at the Glenroyd. We, as a whole family, thank you all!

At all times the family was treated helpfully from all members of staff including the auxiliary staff.

The staff meet all needs and make the Resident comfortable and relaxed.
