Dad was a resident in Lucerne for three years until he sadly passed away in November 2025. The staff provided exceptional, compassionate care, and unwavering professionalism. They were incredible with my Dad, who was living with dementia, treating him with patience, dignity, and genuine understanding.
The team created a warm, reassuring environment where we could see that Dad was safe and loved . Staff consistently went above and beyond, responding to his changing needs with empathy and skill. Their expertise in dementia care is clear, and their kindness brought our family real peace of mind. I wholeheartedly recommend this truly professional 'home from home' to anyone seeking the very best care, and as a family , couldn't have wished for anything better for Dad. Thank you .

My mother June stayed at Lucerne for two years until her passing in Nov this year. Throughout her care she was treated with dignity and respect but most of all love. As a family we were welcomed into the Lucerne fold. Cared for as one of their own as they appreciated that the family are often silent
sufferers after the emotional turmoil of putting their loved one in care. Lucerne has a Dr from the local surgery on call, a physio, podiatrist and hairdresser all superb. The meals are cooked by the resident chef with menus to suit every palate. There is an entertainment team in place consisting of Alex, Jan and Kirstie who go out of their way to keep the residents active and interested. The care staff in Ide ward were second to none managed by the lovely Ron. Tea was provided with care by the ever friendly Julie and all this is overseen by the brilliant management team of Sally and Grace
Reply from Sally Coletti, Deputy Manager at Barchester Lucerne House Care HomeThank you for your kind response. We take pride in our team approach, where every team member plays a vital role in providing a positive experience for both the resident and their entire family. Building trust is essential, so you can feel confident knowing that your loved one is being well cared for.

My 95-yo recently bereaved father moved from residential care to Tyspane in September.

His day to day experience is massively improved over the previous home in almost every way, as is mine as his primary contact.

Staffing levels and proficiency are excellent. Everyone always seems to be very

smily, friendly and helpful. When the occasional problem does arise (as it inevitably does anywhere), there is a genuine desire to understand the issue and to resolve the situation. (As the relative, this is enormously reassuring, as I know we won't get "fobbed off", and if he ever did feel that way, that the staff and I would work together to get to the bottom of it and sort it out.)

My father has found the food very much to his liking, and raves about the quality of the ingredients, the menus, and the cooking.

The physiotherapy team is a huge plus. Babs has got my father's puffy legs, ankles and feet down to a sensible size through targeted exercises.

I could go on, but out of room!

Reply from Aime Bown, General Manager at Barchester Tyspane Care HomeThank you for your feedback, its great to hear that your fathers time with us has been positive. It has been a delight to get to know him in the short time he has been with us. I will share your feedback with the team.

My mum receives outstanding care at Mount Tryon Care Home. The carers are truly wonderful-attentive, compassionate, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure she is comfortable and happy. The management team is excellent, and the home is run with real professionalism and warmth.

There

is a fantastic range of entertainment and activities organised every day, which keeps residents engaged and brings so much joy. The food is beautiful, thanks to the amazing chef and her team, and the entire home is kept wonderfully clean.

I look forward to my visit to see mum each week, and I love to catch up with all the wonderful team at Mount Tryon.

I have complete peace of mind knowing my mum is so well looked after. I highly recommend Mount Tryon Care Home.

The team at Raleigh Manor have provided excellent care to my father. The communal areas and the individual rooms are well-appointed and welcoming, with beautiful views over Exmouth. The standard of care from each member of the team was second to none. We looked at many options and Raleigh Manor was

My mother is on the Memory Lane floor of Cumberland Grange and has dementia.I visit her regularly and can state rhe following. Her room is always warm, clean, and homely. She is happy and likes the staff. She always looks great and is offered regular activities and trips. Her meals are frequent and
beautifully made and presented. The carers are hard working, good humoured, and friendly. From the minute we walked through the doors we knew that Raleigh Manor was the right choice for our father. He moved in at the end of September and the staff couldn't have made dad and our family more welcome.
The environment is inviting, warm, cosy, friendly and inclusive. We were offered endless
cups of coffee and cake and the whole experience has been nothing short of 5 stars.
Dad has mentioned that this is the closest he can get to feeling at home and feels cared for which is so reassuring as we live so far away. We are so grateful for the respect and kindness of the hardworking staff, the attention to detail and dad's beautiful room with that nearby view of the estuary!
Thank you Raleigh Manor for everything. x

My sister moved up to the first floor due to her increasing needs. She's been in her room for a decade (downstairs). The move was handled so well by the staff, who were kindness itself.
The upstairs staff were so welcoming - especially Jane, who organised a pamper day to welcome her.
She's very happy

I cannot express enough gratitude to the incredible team at Lucerne House for the exceptional care, compassion and patience they have shown while looking after my father who has advanced dementia, can be very unpredictable, confused, agitated and unfortunately even physically aggressive. Despite these
challenges the staff have never wavered in their kindness. They treat him with upmost dignity and respect always seeing the person behind the illness rather than judging him by his illness. Every carer, nurse, manager has shown him and us as his family professionalism, genuine love and empathy throughout.

My friend joined the Cumberland Grange as a permanent resident in June. He had the warmest of welcomes and nothing was too much trouble in settling him in. The food is excellent and the fresh daily cakes are yummy - he has declared Cumberland Grange as the house of cake!
All the staff are a happy team
and they are kind and helpful. The management team are efficient and very good and always available to answer questions. The carers team take care of his medical needs very well.
The activities on offer are varied and interesting and include outings. My friend was taken to an exhibition in Exeter. Everyone is encouraged to join in but there is no pressure.
My friend appreciates and enjoys the church services held a couple of times a month.
Cumberland Grange is an oustanding home all round.

I have worked in and visited a few care homes. On arriving at the Cumberland Grange I felt warmth and friendship,it's an amazing care home, the best. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, they go above and beyond. They always have time to talk to the residents and treat
them with respect and as an individual. Giving them the dignity they all deserve.
They have activities daily, morning and afternoon for those who wish to take part. The mini bus is also used weekly.
