Barchester Highfield Care Home

from A R (Sister of Resident) published on 17 March 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister went into the home for 3 weeks in August. At the end of this stay she was not deemed fit to return home. She has since deteriorated and is at end of life. The care she has been given has been outstanding. The carers are kind, jovial and very patient with her. The surroundings are luxurious
and welcoming to visitors, Tea, coffee and home made cake is on offer in the reception area.
M only concern has been that the door to her room wouldn't stay open. It took 5 months to rectify this despite the problem being brought up on a regular basis

My Auntie has been a resident at Leeming Bar Grange Carehome for nearly two years. I have found the home to be clean and well presented on every visit, all in-house services are first class. The staff are always friendly, upbeat and very helpful. The activities available are always interesting and fun,
whether inside the home or out and about in the local area. Over the two years on occasions I have asked for little jobs to be completed the hanging of pictures to tidying an area of garden which needed some attention, all requests have been met with a helpful staff and been completed quickly.
My Auntie moved up from Swindon to be near family, she is very happy and settled at the home, she speaks very highly of the home itself and more importantly, how nice and friendly everyone is.
LeemingBar Grange has a real "home from home" feel to it.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to any one.

My mother arrived at Mount Vale. Shortly before her 101st birthday, on 4th February, she had been very ill. She has improved since arriving. The staff have been very caring and supportive of my mother's needs. They gave her a marvellous Birthday. The children from the playschool sang her Happy Birthday
& they also organised balloons and cakes and many cards and flowers. She was overwhelmed!

The care home used to be a happy place with many regular staff. Many of these staff have now left and, although new staff are very good, there appears to be a real shortage of staff and morale is low. I feel this is contributing to my brother's depression in the past few weeks.

Barchester Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

from Ian B (Son of Resident) published on 4 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Father moved from Scotland 6 months ago after not coping well on his own, he had already had a short term stay at Boroughbridge Manor so he knew where he was going. He initially found it difficult to adjust to the change and the staff were amazingly patient with him, always calm and considerate of
his feelings.
Unfortunately his health declined whilst he was a resident and the team made sure that he received everything he needed, from the small comforts to all medical care required. After brief stay in hospital he returned for end of life care. During this time his care was truly excellent, many staff members went above and beyond, even spending time with him after their shift to stop him feeling lonely.
I cannot thank the team enough for all they have done for him. He was safe, comfortable and well cared for at all times.
He passed peacefully whilst sleeping.

Our thanks to all of the team.

My Mum has been in Meadowbeck for a number of years now and I cannot speak highly enough about the care she receives there.
The building is well kept and comfortable, but most of all, the staff clearly enjoy their jobs, and it shows in the way they naturally interact with the residents, showing care

In the time my Mum has been in there I have always been very happy with how well she is looked after.

During my mums stay at the home she was well cared for by the staff. I felt she was kept safe and happy. She was encouraged to be involved in various activaties.
The rooms were always clean. ALthough the laundry system, seemed to be very confusing and a number of items did go missing.
The food was
always well presented and plentyfull
I found all the staff to be helpfull and supportive regarding any issues.
The garden appear a little run down and neglected.
Not very encouraging, although very spacious.

This was an excellent care home for my father, for the last few days of his life. He was 96 and had mild dementia and by the time he got to the home, he was cheerful, but ready to go.
The staff were fantastic - discreet, caring, attentive and highly sympathetic. You could not ask for more.
The care
home itself is very clean and well maintained: it is clearly a well-managed property with staff who feel sufficiently rewarded to reflect kindness and compassion to the residents.

I had 3 weeks respite care at Ouse View after fracturing my leg and being immobile. I was very well looked after by kind and friendly staff 24 hours a day. My room had a lovely view onto fields and trees, with a comfortable bed.

There was a wonderful warm, friendly atmosphere everywhere. I have already recommended Ouse View to friends.

When we have raised issues with Nicky, she has been proactive and spoken to staff on our behalf. The permanent staff are nice and caring. However, the time between a patient pressing the call button and anyone responding - especially at night - is incredibly slow. Many of the contracters (non-permanent
staff) seem to have little to no idea what they are doing, which is worrying. But the permanent staff are good. There is a lack of consistency.

Our brother has been a resident in the Grange for approx 18 months. He is very settled here and has no anxieties or worries. This is in my opinion down to the way the Grange is run and staffed. Carers/cleaners and management staff are very caring and supportive of the residents and there are plenty
of activities for them. The main areas and rooms are kept in good order and cleanliness. There is a possible case for some internal bathroom doors to be replace due to age and moisture issues but nothing critical

Barchester Rivermead Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Step father passed away in June 2025 . We looked after my mum for a while at our home but it was evident that we couldn't provide the care mum required.
To say it hurt to even consider the thought of mum going into a nursing home was an understatement.
We chose Rivermead because we had been told
that the level of care was good.
That isn't what we experienced. It was well above good , it was exceptional
It is clear that all the staff take great pride in their work and are honest and kind .
Even when staff were dealing with the most difficult tasks I was in awe of how their professionalism shone through.
As the months progressed it was clear that due to mums ill health , mum was slowly getting less able to get around and her condition worsened.
Mum spent some time in hospital but we wanted her back home , back in Rivermead.
Mum sadly passed away but the care she received from the staff was more than we could ever have wished for .
Love to you all Paul , Helen and Beverley

Barchester Threshfield Court Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad is becoming increasingly frail and following a fall my brother and I felt he would benefit from a period of respite care. On admission his mood was very low and his appetite poor. Although Dad's stay was only brief, by the time he returned home to Mum a week later there was a marked improvement
in his wellbeing, thanks to the wonderful care he received. It has been lovely to see Dad taking part in social activities, smart and well groomed, regaining his appetite, some spirit and his smile. The Threshfield Court Care Home environment is welcoming, caring and it feels very safe/ Every staff member we encountered was cheerful, kind, positive and happy (always) to answer family questions. If Dad needs more respite or full time care we will have no hesitation in approaching TCCH.

Excellent care in a lovely environment. Feels more like a hotel than a care home.
Christmas decorations, activities and ambience excellent.
The staff are friendly and interact very positively with the Residents. Catering is very good
In summary an Outstanding Care Home.
